I want to give a great big, THANK YOU! to all of you. You have done an excellent job of posting over the last couple of days here, taking advantage of my days off from work to make huge advances on this level! We still haven't truly gotten to the part of the level that I am most curious about, so you have not really had a chance yet to figure out the big 'mystery' about this level so far. Let's just say that black lever in the first room (F8) was just barely the beginning! :-D

Again no traps are detected. When Uriel touches the sword, suddenly an arc of electricity shoots out of the pedestal connecting to the other pedestal across the room! Uriel's Reflex save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 Uriel manages to dodge out of the way partially, but he still gets hit by some of the electricity ... (Reflex save for half) Electricity damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 1) = 10 / 2 = 5 Electric damage Uriel has electric resistance 5, so no damage taken! :-) Uriel then proceeds to look at the sword he has taken, and he realizes it must be made of Adamantine judging by the color and weight of it. (Your welcome!)
Thank you for your attitude and understanding!!! I find it so refreshing to have a player wanting to calmly 'debate' an issue like this! I really do appreciate it! I can certainly see your point of view. Please allow me to give a little more of my opinion on that. True there are two elementals. But at the time you moved, only 1 of them (Green) was standing and attacking. Cyan was still in his prone/stealthed position. For that matter, green only just had started moving. It has not even been a whole round yet, so less than 6 seconds ago. It seems to me that two large elementals lying prone and trying to be stealthy (and again thinking of that "patient, relentless creatures" description) would actually help keep the water quite calm. I see them as two large creatures, which occupy a 10 ft cube each when standing, and for them to hide in only 2 ft of water means they would tend to spread out more like a 'blob' or jelly spread out on bread, to make themselves thinner and fit in the 2 ft of water. I'm no scientist, but it seems to me that while they were doing that, it would make the water around them be quite calm. Then there is Chalkou & Uriel entering. Uriel at that point had not yet attacked anything, only moved in at full, double-speed. Chalkou, moved only at the normal speed & made 1 attack. So yes, they would cause waves & splashing, but only within the first 10-15 ft of the room. You moved at full speed for another 20 ft beyond that. Through a total of FIVE threatened squares (10 ft reach). Then there is the fact that the elemental rolled a Nat 20 on the perception. He's gonna see something. And these are not mindless creatures, they do have an intelligence score. Not much (only a 6!), but they have enough intelligence to realize something was up. It was VERY unlikely that anything was going to happen to you when you moved. But, it rolled a nat 20 for perception and beat the stealth, the miss chance, and your AC. FOUR different things it had to pass. You just ran out of luck this time. ;-) Sorry. And again, I just want to say thanks for the great attitude! EVERYBODY!!! Raziel is giving us all a GREAT example of how to handle a disagreement with your DM, whether in a PBP or a tabletop, or any other format, and whoever the DM is, this is a most excellent way of dealing with a situation like this!

First let me say, not sure what's going on with Paizo. It was not indicating any new messages to me. I just happened to open up and find FIVE new posts!?!?! *************************************************************************** ** Chalkou wrote: ... Scout by bumping into things, as it were. ... Hahahaha!!! Now I'll just reference a quote here that at least some of you will recognize (And if you don't well then, Gorram it! you need to watch Firefly & Serenity! :-D) ... so here's the quote that Chalkou's post made me think of: Zoe: First rule of battle, Little One: Don’t ever let them know where you are.
Or if you prefer you can watch this scene at 4:20 on this clip of firefly quotes. Sorry - I couldn't find a clip with just that scene. ****************************************************************** And Raziel, yes, you have done well being "more or less constantly available and active" on here. I meant no disrespect or anything bad by what I said. I was mainly saying that it seems to me that some people simply post on here more frequently than you do, but none of that is a bad thing. Just a timing/coordination thing.

There is NO way I am allowing a race with +4 Dex, –2 Con, +2 Int, +2 Wis, +2 Cha. An extra TEN to your ability score? Vrs the normal + 4. I do not know of any DM that would. If you look at the RP cost of a standard Drow (14 RP) vrs a Noble drow (41 RP!!!) there is a reason for that 27 point difference! I am disinclined to allow even a 'Standard Racial Trait' Drow, for 2 reasons. Spell Resistance from the start and it goes up as you level up? And we have a Paladin in the group.

Not a huge deal this early (unless you take a lot of AoOs), but it'll matter later when iteratives start to come online. Of course, by then you'll have plenty more feats to have spent on WF. Just to be clear, Weapon Focus is + 1 to all attacks with the chosen weapon, not just all attacks because THAT would be a great feat! So, yeah, I thought about it, and at this level it seems to be mostly 6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of the other. Obviously yes, Weapon Focus - Nodachi will be one of the next feats - probably THE feat - that I will take next. Like you said, lot of feats for fighter. Definitely Improved Crit, or Keen on the Nodachi asap. And just to be clear, since the Nodachi is an 18-20 crit threat range, keen or improved crit double the range right? So, it would become 15-20? Yowzers! Hmmm . I just realized what your saying about the AoO's though. Yeah, Weapon Focus would give me the + 1 to attack on those attacks as well ... Okay, Switching back to Weapon Focus Nodachi! Yes! Wow! Well written Quint! You have quite the imagination! I especially liked the idea you had of a barred 'window' with chainmail between the bars, and the gate designed to drop and close off the door! If I may ask - and I mean nothing derogatory or accusatory, I simply wish to know - did you come up with those ideas yourself? Or did they come from some other source? However, I could have done without the buttcrack image! Hahaha!

Got the new job!: Just a heads-up, that I got the new job so I start training this Wednesday through the next Wednesday (No Sat or Sun!) and then I start what is for me a VERY EARLY shift, where I will need to be up by 6am at the latest to be at work by 7am! But, at least I will get that $2.00 more per hour! Which figures to somewhere between a 17-18% raise! I just hope that doesn't put me in a new tax bracket where the government just collects all that extra pay!
I am glad this is happening cause I really needed a change from my current job anyways. Thanks to all the well-wishers!!!

Just stuff about possible good news at my job. Nothing about the game: Wuhoo! Oh Yeah! - Sorry, let me explain. At my job, the client I have been working for for over 2 years now, Notified us in January that they will not be renewing their contract with us in June. So I've been facing the possibility of losing my job. But this past Friday I found out my company is looking for a bi-lingual Spanish/English speaker to do customer service over the phone, which is what I like to do & am currently doing for this other client.
Today I had to go and take the written test to see if if I knew my Spanish & I got them all right! Tomorrow I just have to do the interview portion to see how I do speaking it (which should be no problem what-so-ever!). According to the rumor mill, if I get that position it pays $2.00 more per hour! YAY!!!

Jun! You rolled a 1d2 on that first attack instead of a 1d20. I'm guessing that was a typo. Might make a difference? Luna looks around & sees no one asleep. "Shenkt?! Why aren't you attacking? WE NEED YOU! Shake it off!" Luna really wants to go after the big mother worm, but seeing as how she is currently being confronted by both of these guardian worms she will focus on eliminating one of them hopefully. Attack on Orange: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Using inspiration to gain advantage, means I roll twice correct? Attack on Orange: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Luna walks over towards the group looking around at them. Three gnomes? Really? And ... one of those as she glances towards the dwarf & then quickly glances away, her eyes finally settling on the Half-elf, Well, thank Aldellion for small favors! In a somewhat lofty tone, and clearly ignoring the dwarf, "I am Bellaluna Liaqirelle, daughter of Amra, daughter of Malgath, daughter of Denoniel, daughter of the great Aldellion herself. You may call me Luna. I am certain that joining OUR knowledge together with yours" ('yours' being said in what is clearly a derisive tone) "shall be of great benefit." The implied: 'to your group' is not said, but clearly understood. For the people we are just meeting: I apologize. I am not that way! I am just roleplaying my character, the haughty elf, great grand-daughter of the high queen, and great, great, grand-daughter of Aldellion herself! *** She wears a simple outfit, a variety of greens all mixing together, no armor whatsoever, and the only weapons visible are a dagger at her belt and a shortbow over her shoulder. Also, occasionally while settling down for camp, people may see her pull out a parchment and look at it. She makes no effort to hide this and will even show it proudly to anyone who shows the slightest interest.

This game is hella fun. :) Just couldn't resist commenting on two twenties in a row, good on ya Gansu!!! I like the idea, and in this particular instance it doesn't really apply since the very first damage killed the goblin and the second damage killed it again!!! And each time with enough excess damage that the total means he had enough to kill it THREE TIMES OVER + 1!!! But, here's my house ruling on it: Two Nat 20's in a row = TRIPLE DAMAGE Three Nat 20's in a row = INSTANT DEATH Sound good? And in a campaign I once ran where RL Tamlara played, her husband once killed one of the big bad bosses that way and I believe it was the first round of combat? I wish you had waited on the healing, no sense in not using up Alex's healing before he leaves! Though that would technically be meta-gaming, so, well done/well behaved in that sense! After saying their sad farewells, Alex and Tangar will leave the party to head back to town. As the rest of the group searches the rest of the room, they realize there is nothing of any value or higher than goblin-quality (useless) materials on the alchemy table. As some of you study the green glass-rock material you realize it looks just like the spire that you could see outside jutting up about 150 ft in the air in the middle of the ruins. The top of the spire was clearly broken off in a very jagged manner. Could it be that some of these pieces were at one time a part of a higher part to the Spire? You also remember noticing that there was some structure/s still - as in small, higher, floors potentially? - surrounding that spire. As Brother Guiness studies the material, he comes to realize, to his complete and utter amazement, that his axe would break before he could cause any of this green glass-rock to break! Easy to work? More like impossible by any means known to man or dwarf!!! So, if that's the case, what on earth could have been so powerful as to make this enormous Spire which was perfectly rounded and smooth from what you could see outside? And worse yet - WHAT WAS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO BREAK IT OFF IN SUCH A HARSH JAGGED MANNER?!?!?!
