"Spirit-dammit!" Belmarniss comments when she realizes the computer logged her off. She attempts to re-enter the bogus credentials that got her access last time, asking Marisol's help to make sure she doesn't screw up.

"So it sounds like we need to decide what we decide to focus on," Belmarniss says, nodding. "Either we make for the Wishing Engine to try and sabotage it, or try to decapitate the Legion by taking out their high command. Either choice will likely make the opposite objective harder to accomplish, they'll know we're coming and throw everything they've got at us."

She bows her head.

"I personally think sabotaging the Wishing Engine is what we should prioritize: the Legion's chain of command is clearly strong enough that even if their high command is taken down, their underlings can seamlessly step up to take their place, minimizing the amount of chaos it actually causes. But if we knock the Malikah's prize out of her reach, it just might make them desperate enough to try something stupid in hopes of saving face with her."

Over in Interrogation, Hazl steps forward. Without the distortion of the force field, you can see her much better. The woman is well muscled and has a stern gaze, with deep furrows on her forehead and cheeks that suggest she spends a lot of time maintaining a worried frown. Right now she's looking like she's seen better days - she's sporting an array of old and new bruises and burns, and is clad only a loose shirt and pants. She's sweating badly in the heat of the Crucible, heat that you haven't had to worry about in your armor. You look at the readout and see it's currently 165 F. The fact that Hazl is surviving under these conditions suggests that she may have some heat-mitigating augmentation or trait.

Hazl stretches, winces at her wounds, and asks "What's your story? I sure as hell wasn't expecting a rescue here." She looks around the room and points at the cabinet at the western end of the room "If anyone can help get that unlocked, I saw them store my gear in there."

Belmarniss nods and rushes back to the cabinet and attempts to unlock it for Hazl.

Seeing the munsahir has nowhere to run either, she makes her way into the chamber to Flint's side and lays her hand on his solar blade, causing it to surge brighter than ever before.

Belmarniss, having mostly kept quiet herself as they've made their arrangements and begun their insertion, conjures her junksword and summons her mirror images.

Using a 3rd level analog junksword here with the block, reach and trip properties, so it'll do 2d4 bludgeoning and slashing damage.

"Roger that, Captain!" Belmarniss says, shuddering a bit as the tablet's whispers tickle her mind, the self-inflicted trauma of Ezorod lingering still.

She is visibly impressed as they enter the bubble and she sees the facilities within including either a captured Far Portal or a copy of it.

"Feels like we're coming full circle, doesn't it?" she says as she takes the Torrent in for a landing.

I'll be honest, I didn't think we still had that. I thought our entrance to Ezorod had "used it up" so to speak.

Belmarniss' sensitive ears perk up.

"Wait...you hear that? Sounds like humming..."

She gets up from the pilot seat and follows the sound.

"Coming from the hold..."

After a brief search, she exclaims "A-ha!" and returns to the cockpit, tablet in hand.

"Looks like if they reverse-engineered Ezorod's protections, they did it too well. The original tablet may be able to get us through this new one!"

"'Looks like' were the key words, it seems. This is an illusion. There IS something alive out there, but the debris isn't. Some magical deep-sun predator trying to lure in prey, maybe?"

She returns to the pilot seat and gets the Torrent moving again. When Popoko alerts her to the new discovery.

She may only have just come to pilot this ship, but it was a rebuilt ship. A life couldn't be rebuilt the same way.

Honestly, this feels like a relatively straightforward moral choice: Do we help someone at the cost of some damage to our ship or enter the battle with a fully-intact ship at the cost of an innocent's life. I'm not gonna push the button to save Rikard without the approval of the party, of course, but it would be in-character for Belmarniss to do that.

Belmarniss' eyebrow visibly rises over her shades upon receiving Girsten's message. This was...not necessarily the strangest thing they'd encountered inside Mataras yet, but there was a lot of logistics to consider if they really wanted to play rescue-pilot in the extremest of extreme environments. Still, she was loath to leave someone stranded in such an environment. After all, it was in a similar situation that her life had been saved by the woman who'd become her mentor and change the course of her life forever. Maybe it was time to pay that forward...

Dumb question, how much do we have left to spend? I'm mostly recovered from the holiday chaos and still need to decide on my stuff...Part of me's actually tempted to abandon my precious Junksword and take something like that maze-core dueling-sword and pistol, since I've been reading some guides on technomancer stuff and it suggests junksword is about to fall off in terms of damage compared to actual weapons...
