"Objections, You Honors." interjects Faustus on this line of questioning. "This IS a Court of Law. As such, we cannot try something merely because of something that they might do, but only what they have done.

"My client has already served centuries of penance for her acts."

He turns directly towards Tenth-By-Third. "As you just stated, the Ruby Phoenix, Hao Jin, has spent centuries in self-reflection.She has learned the faults in what she has done, and she is remorseful for the pains she has caused the denizens of her realm. But the time has come for her to prove that of her own free will, she has learned. Where before she was ignorant of Cosmic Law, she is now informed.

"This is a Court of Law. We deal in the Truth. We deal proof beyond a reasonable doubt. We do not deal in conjecture and assumption. This is the grounds of my Objections."

"Walk? Ride a camel? That seems so barbaric!" spouts Ethan. "I'd prefer flying... or a carriage... but I don't think that will be possible. And what sort of Venture-Captain wouldn't provide their team with mounts? This is preposterous!"

He then tells the team his plan. "I am not going to use any mundane, smelly beast to carry my esteemed personage around. I will use magic to do this far better. In fact, if a few of you wish, I will allow you to ride with me. With my magical prowess, this chariot will be able travel over the sandy deserts as easy as a paved road, which should increase our speed over mere camels.

"Gavin, I assume you know how to handle a team?"

"Oh, and I alwyas make sure to have the tiny hut spell memorized. No need for me to sleep out under the stars like barbarians. I suppose I could share it with you lot as well."

With a sneer he looks at Gavin as if to say, 'This is why you need a wizard.'

As at his level it has a speed of 80', it can make 64 miles a day

Ethan will purchase the phantom chariot spell. He will take the time to scribe it into his spellbook, and then use his arcane bond to cast it for today.

If the GM permits, and the players agree, this would supplant the need to purchase mounts. This costs Ethan 240gp... and he is going to do it regardless.

Ethan's Purchases:

Scribe Phantom Chariot: 160+80=240gp
Trail Rations for 20 days: 10gp
2 barrels (for water): 4gp
TOTAL: 254gp

this is on top of the 5 alchemist's fire he purchases, which he plans to use as alchemical power components, if needed.

"Oh, and don't worry. I can always teleport myself as well as three of you home safely."

After the crowds calm down, and the Starfinders make their way off of the stage, they are ambushed by a squealing Zigvigix! 'It was so cool seeing all of you up there! The costumes were amazing, and the way your fight was worked into the music. I wish I could have been up there with you!'

Historia-7 is less demonstrative, but obviously glad for Zigvigix. She does seem concerned about the plot that you discovered, and plans to interrogate Lanzio once she has the time.

A conveyor robot approaches you shortly after the concert. The robot relays a brief message about how the band members wish they could converse with you in person but that their schedule requires them to leave right away. It carries a small chest of Strawberry Machine Cake paraphernalia that the band wants to gift to you all to convey its parting and heartfelt thanks. The stash contains a set of elite stationwear armor (emblazoned with a massive strawberry), a glamered fusion seal (7th), four screamer grenades I, and a thunderstrike sonic rifle made to resemble Bone’s koto.

The silence of space lies in stark contrast to the clamor of the concert, and the starry void outside of the starship’s viewscreens is even more striking when compared to the brightpink lights of the quickly vanishing Songbird Station. Historia-7 seems relieved by the respite from the noise and chaos, using the quiet to concentrate on streams of information on her computer.

Even Zigvigix seems happy to be away from the crowd. “Today has been a productive day for you, hasn’t it!”[b] the shirren says, still hopelessly excited by recent events, despite their clear exhaustion. [b]“Uncovering conspiracies, fighting alien technology, and saving Songbird Station. I’m not sure how either you or the band are going to be able to top that next time! But I have faith that you can do it. Good luck!

[b]“You know...” Zigvigix continues, their psychic voice turning soft. “I haven’t felt this way in a long time.” The shirren stands to return to the piloting console, turning only for a moment to add, “Hey, Historia-7, get some rest,” before they depart.

The next day, Chip is distraught to discover that his 7th arm has disappeared over night!

While Kane is not nearly as stealthy as he would wish to be, perhaps because on this lighted stage there aren't any shadows to hide in! However, he does land a shot, just barely dropping the holographic mecha!

The mecha collapses into individual metal plates and then dissolves into pink dust that artfully blows away. The music suddenly stops, and the lights on the stage go dark. Just as the crowd begins to murmur among
themselves, the lights reappear on the stage—in the form of life-sized holograms depicting Zigvigix’s missing friends. The band suddenly starts up a never-before heard song, in a surprise memorial that Strawberry Machine Cake managed to create 10 minutes before the concert.

“Hello, everyone!” CAPTAIN✶CARMINE’s voice calls out, prompting a deafening roar from the crowd. “Hello, Songbird Station! Hello, everyone watching! We love all of you!”

“Today, we found out we had some fans who didn’t make it here because of a tragedy,” the lead singer continues, causing the audience to quiet down. “These brave Starfinders were lost in the Scoured Stars system a few months ago. Their friend brought their holograms here so they could still be with us today. So, I want you to get ready to cheer for them! Cheer so loudly that they can hear us, even out in the Scoured Stars! Let’s let them know we love them!” At that, the crowd erupts into an even more deafening roar, with people from every corner of the Pact Worlds, the Veskarium, and beyond yelling at the top of their voices.

“That’s right!” CAPTAIN✶CARMINE cuts through the screaming cheers. “Everyone, get ready to cheer one more time! Because not only are the missing Starfinders with us here in spirit, their friends are here with us in the flesh as well, and they just saved our concert and Songbird Station! Everyone, give it up for the Starfinder Society!”

At CAPTAIN✶CARMINE’s exclamation, the stage spotlights come back on, and the spot light is aimed at Mustachio. Tsuchi-ko calls out, "Starfinder Mustachio Marino!!!"

Mustachio has a chance for a personal shout-out in front of the
live attendees, as well as the untold thousands of people who will watch the eventual rebroadcasts of the show.

That. Do more of that.

Do people agree with this sentinment? I've had a lot of feedback in PMs/messages/conventions that points me to believe that GMs prefer all their DCs listed inline in a scenario.

So, I'm curious as to what the prevailing majority would like to see... ok, maybe not here. Might be a good opportunity for another thread if someone cares to create it!

I have gotten used to the charts that came in with the specials. I find them easy to use, since worst case I can just print out the chart.

However, I do think that they have the risk that standardized DCs will allow players to meta game their rolls a little.

I also like the scaling, it was helpful in this scenario. Plus, I always like make a DC of x for a certain level of success, make x+5 (or whatever) for better success.

GMs can rule 3 rounds until they die... but I would like to see the PC's actions show that they are trying to prevent death.

I have ruled in such a way that it is moot, but I do suggest making a point that you are not trying to kill... firing non-lethally at -4 to hit would be a good way to do that :D.

If it looks like you are trying to kill him (as Mustachio's attack looked like), the target may just be dead.

Plus, be wary of massive damage.

Most monsters and NPCs don’t have Resolve Points, so injury and death work differently for them. A monster or NPC reduced to 0 HP is dead, unless the last bit of damage it took was nonlethal damage (see page 252), in which case it is knocked unconscious. If it is ever important to know exactly when a monster dies, such as if you want to capture the creature alive, the GM can decide that a monster reduced to 0 or fewer Hit Points with lethal damage dies in 3 rounds unless it takes any additional damage or receives healing. If a monster or NPC has Resolve Points, the GM can choose whether the monster dies at 0 HP or if it uses the normal rules for dying and death.

Assume the possibility of table variation on this. A GM is not required to give 3 rounds.

Yes, Chip, you could do that. However, I am going to use some GM fiat to say that since Chip comes after Mustachio in the order, THIS TIME ONLY, I will say that Chip fired his non-lethal atack after Mustachio.

With Mustachio and Chip attacking, Lanzio falls to the ground, unconscious.

Disclaimer: I never GM'd part A, B, or C of this special.

Really, it is up to the PCs to decide what skill that they are going to use.

The way I have done it is to have PCs roleplay out a little of what they are saying, and then pick the skill they would like to try. I then match their words and skills to the likes/dislikes of the face to pick the DC.

Example: Someone cracks jokes at the joker face, using Perform: Comedy -- this gets a Hard DC as it goes against the face's dislikes.

I should think we should start discussing,

One thing I noticed was that there is a bit of an issue in regarding Eshimka’s gender pronouns. In previous parts, Eshimka is referenced as “he” , and very clearly so. In part D, the text refers to Eshimka as “she” in most places, though the artwork would normally be referenced as being quite masculine.

I am not sure how to best approach this, to be honest. I am guessing this was an accident, but....

Ran this one Sunday, with four players.
Mechanic, Envoy, Operative, and Mystic at 3-4.

Most of it went really well, but even with the sickened modifier the crest-eaters really did a number on them. 3 of them were dying at least once during the encounter. Two went down twice.

Other than that, we really enjoyed it. The cave-shrimp were particularly cool.

So, there are apparently no CORE tables of 8-99D?

This greatly saddens me, as it will mean that Alaric cannot finish the series.

Is it wrong that I really just want to see 10-13 feature a log trap (big, heavy, and wood) that rolls over a ranger's dog wolf?
That would be better than bad. One might even say "It's good!"

groans!

Yeah, the pacing going on makes it seem like the faster times would really work here, Shifty.

Of course, Seeker time is a little different, though my table is about to finish their first encounter.

Man, running this tier is a pain. So much to remember as a GM, without the table able to remind you before you press “Submit Post”

”I regret to inform you that Master Rutowski is not currently accepting visitors.” says the manservant. ”If you would like to leave you names, and where you might be found, I will let you know an appointment time.

“Good day.”

Grippli, Gresh, Neal:

Bel Canto SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Grippli SM: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Gresh SM: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Lemford SM: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 2 = 13
Shadowhand SM: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
You get the idea that you might need to make him friendlier towards you, to get him to do something for you, as he is pretty indifferent towards you. Also, you notice a bit of a sneer when he sees your appearances.

Bel Canto:

You are pretty sure that no amount of persuasion will get this man to let you in. Damned Taldans.

Lemford:

You have an axe, and he has a door.

ok, just to be clear, if folks are uncomfortable with my character hitting on them (or any other suggestive comments), please let me know, and I will tone things down.

I've got a certain personality picked out for Antonius, but I can tweak it as needed.

What would I like to see offered at GenCon?

PFS 1.0 tables during every slot. Have some 1.0 tables during the StarFinder special. Some of us would like to use that time to GM or play some. If the PFS 2.0 special doesn't sell out quick, you could open up some 1.0 tables during that slot as well.

This, exactly.

Last year, at least 1/3 of the room was empty during the SFS special. We had GMs that would have been available to run during this time, if PFS 1 was offered.

For the PFS 2 special, perhaps it would be ok to also have SFS and/or PFS 1 running. There are a good number of folks that will not be comfortable running a new system with even a month's time to really get to learn it.

Last year's slack channel should be repeated. It was helpful in many ways.

Having some sort of GM meeting prior to the specials would also be helpful. I know that we can no longer use the hallway behind the Sagamore, and that mustering will be happening as we would be doing this, but what if we got some volunteers (myself included) to run quick briefings in room corners, or something?

You mean the Grenadicorn?

The Combat Assault Unicorn?

The Chargicorn?

Maybe it was the just the Murdercorn.

Wait... these were all names my players gave her...most did not fight her... one party fought her TWICE!

Initial version of my character sheet is posted. Still have to purchase gear, but skills and feats are probably set.

I did take Skill Synergy so that I could get Diplomacy as a class skill. May tweak the second skill here... currently physical science.

My best skills are:
Acrobatics +8, Athletics +4, Bluff +6, Computers +9, Culture +8, Diplomacy +6, Engineering +11, Perception +5, Piloting +8, Sense Motive +5, Sleight of Hand +9, Stealth +10, Survival +7

Because... operative.

Eventually, I'll be buying almost all of the skills, so I at least get my operative's edge on them.
