Kalistrine

Sandru turns to Lothi and says, "Foul manners and who exactly are you? Most Irriseni I have met keep to themselves because they don't want any unwanted trouble. But you feel you must interject in mine and Kalistrine's conversation... Irriseni orcish whisky is for babies... made from poor ingredients and is only potent because it is ethanol which means they don't know the common practice of throwing the first third away and to age it in casks... but of course. where are my manners?"

Sandru gives her a grin, "Remember that time in Magnimar when I drank too much Chelish hot buttered rum and fell into the fountain... but I swam out anyway... "

While you are setting up camp, Sandru walks over to speak with some of the other Varisian merchants. He returns a few minutes later, half-smiling.

"Ran into some old acquaintences, up from Magnimar, they came way of . Gave me some good words on the situation here. First off, the Kalsgard folk aren't keen our kind of caravan coming and going, so we're only allowed to setup here in the Bone quarter. We can come and go through the rest of the city, but have to leave the wagons here." He shrugs it off. "The good thing is I've got some friends here. We can merge our caravan with theirs for appearances and blend in... Gerik also gave me some names where we can get some quick supplies and repair stuffs."

Sandru walks over to a sandy patch and draws a U-shape with a stick, then a big wavy line across its open end. He then segments the U with internal lines. "A rough map of the city. We are here, in the Bone quarter," he points to the south-central subdivision. "Newer quarter of the city, which is why its got so many open spaces, but kind of a haven for the down and out." Sandru goes on to explain the rest of Kalsgard. "The Horn quarter is basically farmers and ranchers from lands nearby the city. The Stone quarter has a good number of smiths, stonemasons, and 'learned'. The Ivory and Amber quarters are together, and comprise the hub of manufacture and trade for the city. The Oak quarter on the eastern shore has a lot of the lumber industry, shipyards, and woodworkers of all sorts. On the far west is the Jade quarter, where a large number of Tian immigrants gather. Lastly, the Fire and Ice quarters are the heart of the city; the oldest parts, and they hold most of the river and sea trading markets, inns and taverns of all kinds."

His long talk done, Sandru sighs. "Now, I can stay here and arrange repairs and resupply. You all can hub out of here, of course, but you might consider getting a room in a busier quarter. Remember, we need to find a guide; someone that knows the Path of Aganhei, so while you're asking around about the family sword, see what you can get."

Sandru looks around the group. "Anything I missed?"

Sandru looks at the Ulfen and says, "Never seen these people in my life. The lion is probably significant, we could prolly check it out when we get to Kalsgard."

Sandru is doing a preliminary inspection of the wagons of the caravan as Vermundr moves closer to the carnage of the caravan.

Sandru turns and says, "I have no idea, those guys came out of nowhere... Tough sonsab*&#!es, I must say..."

Koya seeing Ahiko down channels positive energy 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

Sandru's eyes open and he looks down where the mighty tusk tore his shirt and chuckles to himself. "Right quick wadn't he..."

He then gets up and says, "Is everyone else alright?"

He looks at the Ulfen and says, "Who you callin purty, i've been doin da durt long 'fore you was burn.. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

After concluding their business and signing a few contracts, Sandru has a large smile on his face as he returns to the caravan the night before you will leave for Kalsgard.

"Kali, I was able to get the contract to be the exclusive caravansman between Varisia and Jol. This is great! I have hired some Varisian caravaners and they are going to Sandpoint and further to Magnimar to further strengthen the trade. Bevelek is going with them to run it from there. With Ameiko's crew we can corner the market across the Roof!!!" he says as he gives her a hug.

Sandru looks at the Ulfen, "so the Thanelands, the locals and the Thanelanders do not get along so well, they dislike more King Bloodeagle of Kalsgard, just take the attitude with a grain of salt. The king here, Eightfingers hates the man to the north for annexing his copper mine."

He then listens to Ahiko and to Kali and says, I don't see why not.

He then takes a peak at the chest, looks at the lock and then kicks it with his toe. Hmmm

"I will be right back, I have to go through my gear and find the right tool" Basically, I have to run right now and post the info later, but feel free to RP

Sandru says, "The last time I was here the best areas for adult entertainment would be over by the Tangles in the Southern part of town. Vermundr, quick question, which Linnorm Kingdom are you from?"

Sandru says to the people, Sure, we are heading towards Jol, so if you would like to join us that would be fine, however it will not be free.

The man says, "Of course we will pay you, right now, we are sitting ducks for the Nolander tribes and any wandering monsters."

The people join the caravan and the oxen are added to the horse train increasing the burden available to be carried by each wagon.

Shortly thereafter you reach the intersection where and start to travel in a westerly direction towards Jol.

GM Rolls Day 6 1d100 ⇒ 35, Day 7 1d100 ⇒ 81

The caravan moves at a brisk pace and makes better time on roads that are used more often, these roads enable the party to arrive early in the afternoon on day 7.

You see Jol in the distance and that it is an extremely old
city with strong walls and numerous solidly built structures within those
walls, each constructed to withstand the
rigors of combat.

Knowledge History DC 15

Spoiler:
The city itself is built on a much
older city—the ancient ruins of the Thassilonian city
of Torandey. While no remnant of that city remains
aboveground, deep vaults and strange dungeon holdings
deep underground are constantly being discovered as
new foundations are dug. In some cases (most famously
with the abandoned Grand Arena), breaking into these
ancient vaults releases strange monsters or magical
aff lictions that require the abandonment or destruction
of buildings aboveground.

Sandru turns to Vermundr and says, "Those people are probably members of the local barbarian tribes who live in this area, the Nolands were primarily where the Linnorm Kings throw their criminals."

Sandru sees Kalistrine throwing Chakrams into the log and moves over to her with a glass and a handful of daggers and says, "By Desna, give me a dram would ya?"

Without looking he throws all five dagger into a 1/4 inch grouping. Hearing the thud he smiles.

Sandru frowns at Kalistrine a bit and then says, "Ami is one of my oldest friends but she is well er, making noise in that language of hers ca-i-yen't make heads nor tails of it."

He then says, "Seems that Ulfen got an EYE on you, HAHAHAHAHa!!!"

Well, basically Ameiko has some sort of family business regarding her ancestors up there and she hired the caravan as a mode of transport up there and back, if you want anymore information you should speak to either her, Takeshi or Liu, they have the deets... says Sandru cheerfully.

In response to Ahiko's question says, "For centuries the peoples of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings have been exiling their criminals and lawbreakers to this no-man's-land, a practice the Shoanti have followed as well. Descendants of these individuals eventually formed into bands and camps, continuously warring against each other and striking at the communities to their north and south. These groups are generally too disorganized to prove a true threat to northern Varisia, but that doesn't mean that the folk of the Velashu Uplands and the Red Mountains don't keep a constant lookout. But we on the other hand are going into their territory, which means we need to keep our guard up. I have heard some disconcerting news that they have become a bit more organized. Best I can say is keep your head on a swivel and I think we should be ok. Jorland might be a good person to talk to, he may have traveled through her on his journey south when he was younger, although he may have traveled by ship"

At around dusk, Sandru along with Enril and Ahiko walk toward the caravan where the rest of you crash for the evening. He steps out into the light of the oil burning lamp and clears his throat in a somewhat terse manner and then says, "Seems as though Zhenzhen has decided to try her luck in Riddleport and well, I am extremely excited to say, I have hired on two new folks for the caravan. Here is Enril and Ahiko, please feel free to introduce yourselves to these nice people."

After a little bit, he says, "We'll be leaving for Brinewall in the morning, it should take us between three and four days to get there from here, so be ready and get a good night sleep."

After Koya's service, Sandru gets the newlyfound treasure and cargo put on the wagons and within 20 minutes he pushes the caravan further. The pathway north is rough that skirts the Fogscar mountains. Sandru pushes the caravan past the normal time he usually stops but it is obvious he wants to camp in Galduria this evening.

About an hour past dusk, the caravan pulls up to the outskirts of the town.

Sandru says to the group "I think we will spend two nights here, I want to get these damaged wagons fixed and it should give me time to do some trading as well."

Gear you find on the ranger is a very well made falchion, an interesting composite longbow, 2 arrows wrapped in red paper, 20 arrows, 26 gp, 3 potions of differing colors. The sorceress has 2 potions, and three scrolls plus a nice longsword and a bow with 20 arrows. You are able to find in total 327 gp off the dead bandits, 80 arrows.

Sandru comes back after checking the dead bandits the caravan killed and says excitedly "Well we were able to pick one cord of wood to sell from your efforts and one full crate of arrows and bows that we can sell. All in all a very profitable encounter for the caravan, what do you think?"

XP 852 for everyone and 150 for Kalistrine for going out and chopping wood.

Is everyone alright? says Sandru.

A member of the caravan Bevelek who stayed with the caravan to do damage assessment runs up to Sandru and says, Well boss, seems we lost two ponies but were able to scrounge up four from the bandits to replace them. Everything seems to be in good enough shape to get to Galduria.

Spoiler:
The frames of the caravan are still in good shape but an axle on the fortune teller's wagon can use to be replaced. The canvas tarps are filled with arrow holes which can stand to be replaced.

I have a rerecruitment up with a few candidates, feel free to chime in on my PM to tell me if you have a preference

I know becoming more friendly with your sister is a bit odd... Takeshi its up to you how you want to play it or you can try to develop a relationship with the other 3 npcs as well.

Sandru looks at Kalistrine and says, Thanks for the information. That can save the caravan a whole mess of time... Let me think. We've got some two man saws and horses or you could use axes

You can use the saws, or think of another way to clear the path.

Kalistrine Diplomacy DC10 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Sandru's eyes light up at the first few questions. I love travel you know that. Sandpoint is my home but I am always glad to leave, my older brother casts a large shadow.... he becomes listful and then coughs and answers.

It seems that the FNGs are adapting fairly well. We did pick up a married couple who are traveling with us to Roderic's Cove. But that shouldn't represent any real issues. Hahaha!

It was a long time ago which harbors for me a lot of bad memories... I really miss my little brother Alder, brave lad, brave brave lad

Sandru coughs and unrolls a gigantic map of Varisia and says, "Thanks Ams! Well, here is the situation: Brinewall Castle and its former settlement lay around 500 miles from Sandpoint. With the current complement of horses and wagons it should take, barring inclement weather and the like, about sixteen days to get there. We shall start north along the Lost Coast Road following the coast until the road turns west towards Windsong Abbey and we will then continue Northeast to Galduria, Wolf's Ear and following the Lampblack river and then briefly through the Churlwood towards Roderick's Cove. Kalistrine and I know of a not so often used smugglers track around Riddleport which would shave about a day off of our journey. This is also a good business opportunity to trade with those villages and such"

He then hands everyone a map of Varisia so that they can understand what he is talking about.

He also takes out a pencil with both types of compasses.

He then winks at Kalistrine and says under his breath "What do you care as long as the gold is the right color?"

Walthus declines any money, being glad to be alive.

Ameiko's band is playing tonite... Seems like she has a rather large following. says Sandru answering Lina and then turns back to Kalistrine and Shalelu.

I think Ameiko will be done in about 20 minutes. So how was the Marsh? Find any interesting things we could sell for the caravan?

Sandru turns to talk to Kalistrine and says, Ha! We figured you would have been back two days ago shoot it feels like it has been seven months, you must've liquidated a battailion, been gone so long....
