Elias, with long greasy hair covering the rounded tips of his very human looking ears, thanks to an application of Disguise Self, scratches one sweat stained arm pit and asks distractedly, "Oi! What they pay you here? Better than this lot I reckon, and nowt so much time in the chill and rain yeah? How you lot get such a posh gig? Kin I get in onnit?" His two remaining yellow teeth almost meet when he grins at the guard.

Elias nods firmly, "I am certain. Despite the optimism of my compatriot, we can't justify even seven hundred. The work we do is incredibly dangerous, and money we give you is money we can't spend ensuring we will not be captured or killed. As we already have a potential source for such documents as you might have provided, and were simply seeking alternate sourcing, I cannot justify such an outlay of funds. Good day to you madam, you have our words that what we have spoken of here today will not be spoken of again."

With that, Elias turns on his heel and begins to walk right out the door, before pausing, as if in thought, "...however. Your work. Undermining this corrupt, established government. It is not also without import. I might see clear to offering some smaller amount, along with the backing and protection of the Ravens in your future endeavors if you are interested, in exchange for the work. Say, three hundred and fifty gold?"

"Do you truly believe I spoke of every man, woman, or child who has taken from Barzillai's hand? Those we released today were no town guardsmen trying to do a difficult job. They were not the citizen's group, attempting to find a place in the new regime. They were Excruciators. Professional torturers, Euphemia. They locked a man into a cage meant to break him, with every intent of feeding the scraps to their hounds. Those were the men who drove my people from the city, and dragged those who openly remained to the rack. I believe the scope of my anger to be very, very appropriate. We are a symbol, as you say, and I fear tarnishing that symbol by setting torturers free."

Elias passes a hand in front of his face, a sudden exhaustion writ large on his fine elven features. "...and yet we did let them go."

He slumps onto a stool.

"I do not wish for blood-washed streets in our silver city, though I fear it will come to that. I do not want pogroms. I do not even want the Excruciators tortured in return for tortures inflicted. So. A compromise. You do not wish to act as executor? Very well. Before I put those men to the sword, I will use the blessings of my lady to determine the worth of their hearts. If they be evil men, then I accept your assertion that they deserve death, and I will carry out the executions myself. If they are free of that stain, I will allow such...clemencies, despite the cruelty of their crimes. That is the most I will offer you."

He waves a hand, as if to clear smoke. "None of this affects the goal to rescue our erstwhile Hellknight ally. When last we spoke of it, we came to a choice, night or day? I would propose night. Our actions at the... doghouse, will make movement during the day more difficult."

Elias turns to Femi, his eyes grow cold, "I, however, do have one problem with how that operation went. We released the torturers, instead of cutting them down as they deserved. I will not gainsay your decisions in public, but rest assured the cretins will be hunted down and slaughtered when I have the time, assuming they remain in the city. Their actions deserve pain, their victims deserve vengeance. I will do no less."

Elias calls up to the rafters, "I speak now to you, invisible malefactor. What price for you to stop these attempts? If you continue, eventually you will be found and slain, unless you make alternate arrangements with us now."

Elias heads upstairs as well, casting Disguise Self as he moves, his form blending into that of an attractive, swarthy human man, with a wide, thick mustache. Elias regards Kalem seriously for a few moments as he weighs his reply.

"Potentially, yes. I will neither temper, nor apologize for my devotion to the Lady. It is the price I pay for my power, and I pay it proudly. A cleric who is unwilling to live the beliefs of his calling is little more than a charlatan who preys upon the hopes of his followers. If that devotion brings a problem to this group, I will deal with it as well as I am able. If the scope of the problem outweighs my contribution to the reborn Silver Ravens... I will excuse myself from our alliance before I allow that to happen."

As the group continues down the street, Elias constantly checks side alleys for trouble, but his tone softens, "I do not intend to cause any...tactical problems for us. Vengeance, as they say, is a dish best served cold. My anger at the young man wasn't because he relinquished his right to redeem his ill treatment upon his captors, so much as his dismissiveness of vengeance itself as valid expression of fury. There are many who need to partake in that cold dish to move past the harm that has been done to them. His words not only insulted the Goddess, but those poor men and women as well."

Despite the shrill cries of the maimed Regin, Kryolani does as he's been practicing these last few weeks and carefully dismounts from his nervous horse. Then he turns to the slavering beast, a boar larger than any he had seen. Not that he had seen many alive, instead of turning slowly over a spit at his cousins country estates. He was never one for the hunt, and this was entirely closer to the action than he would like. No matter, the beast had to burn, before it finished off Serolt's pet. Gesturing in the air to summon forth the arcane power, the sorcerer called to the beast.

"Hey! Hey! Look here! Not at the cat, HERE!" as he unleashed a Burning Hands spell directly into it's face.

In his spare time, Kryolani also decides to take up a new hobby befitting his status as an adventurer and woodsman. Borrowing some of Oleg's artisan tools, specifically some of the finer files, Kryolani spends part of the morning looking for a likely stone, and the afternoon beginning to polish and shape it.

Craft: Stonemasonry: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

The result is decidedly amateurish, but the work was fun. By the end of the day Kryolani is in possession of a serviceable, if somewhat shiny, stone brick. Upon consideration, he's certain that with practice he could advance into the production of actual art.

Every nobleman needs a hobby, and by golly, this shall be mine. Stone sculptures for everyone! Once I figure out how!

First, we basically are the law out here, so no worries about misunderstandings of that sort. The promise was more implicit than explicit, which is why I'm enjoying this so much. It seems exactly the line where a LN follower of Abadar would come down on the other side from Kryolani. Good job Jacobus!

That being said, Kryolani is siding with a hanging as a purely practical measure. These people are undoubtedly guilty of banditry, which comes with the death penalty. And we don't have a jail, as I posted.

I enjoy that a game that's supposed to be about kingdom building is taking a look at some of the basics of how societies work this early in. I think that bodes well.

Also, Kryolani might have to pick up Geas and Lesser Geas somewhere down the road. All the better to legally bind you with!

The Human looks up at the Gnome for a moment, then speaks slowly, thinking as he goes, "Well, yes, actually, kinda. Some have said that power runs off the edge of a blade. I've been taught that's true, in a lot of ways, but not how people think. Civilized folks want safety and security, and they'll fight to have it. To rule, you have to convince the people that if they are willing to follow you, you can arrange things so they get it. The safety, that is. Good rulership is honeyed words, backed up with a knife, or arcane fire, or what-have-you. It's just not directed at your followers. It's directed at whoever would remove their safety from them. Could be bandits. Could be a famine. The method of threat and resolution vary, but power is what ties them, and the faith that it will be used wisely."

Background:
While the Surtova family is known throughout Brevoy for it's crafty and underhanded guile, Kryolani's particular branch eschewed most of the guile for straightlaced loyalty, and suffered thereby. The Surtova reputation followed them like a plague, and hounded their fortunes into the dust. Kryolani was forced to take a position as a minor barrister in a minor town when he came of age, and he found the work dreadfully unfulfilling. Upon hearing opportunity cry in the Stolen Lands, he stuffed his purse with his few coins, grabbed his dueling blade (a true noble would never be without it, no matter his lack of skill) and immediately set out.

Personality:
Kryolani is a light hearted young man, with a keen eye for the finer things in life, and the jawline of a born hero. This belies a buried temper, that he fears he shares with his father, and so avoids hard drink. Eager to see the world beyond the parlours of Brevoy, he is at turns excited and nervous.

Appearance:
Kryolani is darkly attractive, and when not paying attention seems to naturally brood. His black hair and eyes both seem to have faint tinges of red buried deep down, and his pale skin is positively flawless. He's slightly on the short side, at five feet, eight inches, but he does not let this trouble him unduely

Casual Negotiation!:

Fssst rises, ash billowing off him in a chalky cloud. He scoops up two fists full of the cremated remains and walks to the entryway of the room, where he carefully pours one handful across the threshold. Having done so, he takes a torch from a nearby sconce and stands in full view of any who might approach.

He turns to the others, "Hide yourselves as you will. A flame does not disguise it's presence, so nor can I. If they wish us harm, I will draw them into the trap by fleeing through the trap-door." He memorizes the location of Smoog's deadly little gifts before inscribing words of warning in the ash upon the threshold with a claw.

Fssst then bellows in the common tongue as best as he is able, "The Necromancer is Slain! His Thralls, Destroyed! Commune peacefully where the torchlight falls, in this hall of civilization, or be made into dry blood and cold flesh!"

Moth To Flames, to bring the Dwarves into a parley: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 = 10

Looking after the wellbeing of my allies!:
Fssst grips Grick roughly by a heel, drags him bodily to the center of the room, and stalks over to an altar. "The decision is already made. Grick will keep his mind. The flames will seal the poisons away. His hunger for flesh will not be...uncontrollable."

Fssst wrenches a fist-sized iron holy emblem of Enoreth, rusted to a blood red, from the altar. He turns it over in his hands, feeling the civilizing influence of the divine power within. Structured, beholden to the strictures of civilized life. This was not the way of an Immolator, but if the poisons coursing through Grick were to be turned to a new purpose, they would need a balancing power. Even a tainted Enoreth could fill that need.

The mad flame-tender walks a circle around Grick, pouring flaming oil from one of the lanterns that lit the room onto his path. "He will be born again as something...new." he said, as he leaps upon the fallen Shaman. "Call to your spirits, Shaman! Drink them down! Sate your gluttony for flesh upon those unworthy to serve you!" Fssst leans down and grips Grick's jaw tightly on one claw as he held the holy symbol of Enoreth above his mouth. Fssst whispers, with quiet glee, "Now be still. This will sting a bit."

The holy symbol burst into molten iron, pouring down onto shaman's teeth...

Generosity!:
"You have not seen me burn my own, because I prefer to make sacrifice in private. Speak not of my path, of which you know little." His eyes flicker to his right hand, holding the pewter acorn just beyond the heat of the flow. "But...your point is not missed. You have given to the flames before, Sees-Death. You have given, and so your account is not without worth. Take the acorn, if you deem it of value."

Fssst tosses the small lump of metal, still cool to the touch, over to the bard. Then he raises his other hand, glowing, to his ally.

"Now, would you accept the blessings of fire once again? Though it bears pain and worth in equal measure, I shall not force it upon an ally unwillingly."

As Fssst bundles the last of the dry brush up against the number three flop house, he drizzles a trail of oil from it the middle of the encampment. There lay a stinking puddle where other such trails from the other flop houses converge. "Burn, fools. You deserve nothing more."

Summoning a spike of solid fire: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3) + 3 = 9

A sliver of crackling flame appears in his hand, and he drives it down into the oil, igniting an inferno...

Smoog had taken the wrong lesson the right way. It was enough. People, even those as enlightened as Kobolds, hear what they expect to hear, not what is said. Fssst said that the power did not make Smoog special, Smoog hears that he is not special. For some, a little light in the darkness illuminates the path. For other, it blinds them. At least the young kobold was headed in the proper direction now. He had come close to worshipping the power he brought out of the mountain. The power is just worthless ash, next to Smoog's decision to grasp it. Being a Kobold who would do take such a strength into himself, that was a fire to be respected.

Fssst takes the tools, old and worn down, smooth wooden handles strapped in place by pig sinew. He runs his ruined hands over the items, feeling them with scar-deadened fingertips. The metal heads have borne up well after years of use, scraped clean and shined bright by the rocks they shattered.

"You are made anew, and wish your weapons made anew to match. Will they be clever and sharp as your tongue? Quick and razor edged?"

Fssst hands the tools back. "My hands do not spout the flames. Tending the fires of the warren for many years have caused my hands to become a home to the fires of our mountain. Within, they are always burning. This was a natural thing, an extension of being who I was, doing that which circumstances bade me. It did not make me 'special'. Finding a mote of power in the dark has not made you 'special' either. New Smoog, old Smoog, same Smoog."

The flamekeeper stares at Smoog in the pitch black belly of the water beast, orange light glowing in his eyes. "I will do this thing you ask. Remake your tools. In exchange, you will spend more time discovering what makes you better, more worthy, than our kin that bled and died under the mountain. I assure you, it is not power."

"But, I will do this thing when we are no longer buried in the throat of a monster. I am mad, Smoog, not a fool."

What form would you like them to take? I'll make the roll as soon as we're out of here and have a moment to rest, as it requires some safety precautions to shape the steel.

Fssst stares at the Druid, contemplating the potential affront. The blood of their home weeps down into the swamp, making a pyre of it's inhabitants. Who is to say this is not exactly the honor the death of their home deserves?

"You want to call the flames away from being what they are. This is... it is not a task likely to succeed. Fire burns. It consumes. To calm the hunger of a flame is to kill the flame. Nothing more or less. I am not sure I could do this for you. If I can, even in part, your debt would be great indeed. Your suffering for failing to pay it, legendary. Are you certain you wish me to try?"

Personally, I'm running an investigator as a bit of a melee glass cannon. I picked up Mutagen ASAP, and use a 2-handed weapon. You've got a lot of options that make melee more viable, so get Power Attack and then Extra Inspiration so you can blow Inspiration points right and left and you can't go far wrong.

As an alternate build, go Empiricist Investigator, Pick up Unarmed Combat, and Snake Style. With the right talents, you can get your Sense Motive to truly hilarious levels, and then use that for your AC. Investigators get a lot of shapeshifting magic that could mesh well with this, but talk to your GM first.

I need more than "Everyone is benefiting from an issue, but he's doing better than anyone else" to assume a person is exploiting. Especially since the first portion of the video takes place next to a tower, not next to the hex border.

From initial testing, we are now considering adjusting the hitbox size (this will likely become even MORE important when small PCs are a thing, for obvious reasons) and dealing with the issue that tracking a moving target to click it seems to be triggering the "mouse click to look/turn" rather than the "mouse click to target" which is a bug. This doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough to be annoying.

Other potential issue here, as I see it: flagging for opportunity appears broken in the video - I don't just mean on Slammy. A LOT of people were moving around at faster than a walking pace without triggering opportunity. This does point to an issue. It does not point to cheating on the part of a single individual.

Finally, flagging for PvP: I'd love to know if he was jumping into a preexisting pvp situation or not. It APPEARS like he starts off jumping people who are already flagged for PvP, then moves on to chasing people down who weren't flagged, at which point he finally did flag. But this is supposition on my part. I can only see things from his view point, and thus far I've not had a lot of luck reproducing this issue as described. Am I missing something here?

Anyway, I just wanted to post here to mention that we are looking into it, and to share our initial findings. If there are deeper issues, it's going to require more testing to find them, which is why that's on my docket for the rest of the day.

Yeah, our smoke test is currently something like "Turn it on. Do these 30-some odd steps. Did anything break? If so, do not post build to live servers."

A good smoke test should be quick, and should only test features that are required for release. Ours includes stuff like "Can you take damage?" and "Can you move into a new hex?" and "How about respawning, does that work?"

Hello all, I'm Rob, QA guy for Goblinworks. I should be getting my handy dandy forum tag shortly, but I wanted to go ahead and address the question of what information a bug report submits.

The bug system is still in an alpha state, just like everything else, but it does give us a pretty healthy amount of information.

It includes (but is not limited to):
Player name
account name
player location
player facing
...and some various information about what server the client is on when the bug is submitted.

This means that when you are submitting a bug, it's helpful to do so from the location where you encountered the bug. If you wander off and keep playing for another hour or two, and then submit the bug, it'll be a little harder for me to reproduce the problem you encountered.

There is not currently a method to include screenshots, but that's certainly on my list of long term upgrades to the bug reporting system. It's a rare problem that I can't figure out what's going on between a location and a bug description.

TL:DR - You can submit a bug by hitting ESC and selecting "Submit Bug". If you see something wrong, Submit a bug. We appreciate them.
