Please, everyone, let's respect the requests campaign leadership have made not to publicly discuss which chronicle sheets various boons come from.

All students in this session of GM school will participate in a classroom, and also be placed at a table with a mentor. That table will play together through a scenario, with everyone acting as GM part of the time. I will be leading the classroom discussion. Your mentor will be an experienced GM. Not new at all, but I do have a goal to get the Five Novas for Starfinder. Is there a benefit for someone like me signing up, or just simply ask when it comes time?

GM school is really intended for GMs with little or no experience in GMing play by post.

For more experienced GMs who want to improve their skills, I would suggest joining our GM lounge. We have a few times run a game where a very good GM runs a game for intermediate GMs, explaining what they are doing. Such games are announced and recruited from the GM lounge. You also can contact me and I can help put you into contact with a mentor who can work with you one on one.

He's called Cornid by the others. He listens to the story of Harik with interest. He explains that he understands such actions, but he will remain loyal to the Legion. He just wishes he could get the legion to 'fight cleaner' and not hurt people more than is needed.

There is enough variety of meat that you can certainly eat heartily without eating anything you should not.

You notice one of the ranking officers among the hobbogobbos looking slightly uncomfortable with some of the badder stories being told over the meal, and being a bit cautious about which meats to eat. You also overhear him being called by name, and realize he is the one who the plotters were trying to frame for 'elf magic.'

Interesting Character,

This is indeed a PFS lodge. Most of those who partipate in our GM school tables are already experienced GMs in some context, but want GM school in order to teach them how to run Society games on Play by Post.

Also, there can be a great deal of disagreement as to what makes a good GM. In the context of a Society game, some of that disagreement is reduced because we've all agreed to follow the rules, which included running the scenario as written.

Seelah chooses to examine the top card of her location at the start of her turn. Due to its trigger trait, it removes her curse. Then she chooses to use her knowledge of the divine to try to defeat the Theletos.

divine, smiting, blessing of iomedea: 2d8 + 2 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 8) + 2 + (4) + 1 = 19
(blessing of Sarenrae recharged for smite)
damage for overshooting: 1d4 ⇒ 2
(only card in hand is longsword +2, which is discarded)

fort check to close, smiting: 1d8 + 1 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + (2) + 1 = 9
blessing of sarenrae is recharged for smite, location is closed, no card to discard as damage when closing.

draw up and end turn.

The situation is resolved, but I'm exhausted, so I'll be ready to resume in a day or two. Well, I may just wait a little longer than that, rather than try to resume on Christmas Day, since the odds are good several people will be distracted/unavailable that day. :)

Some of you are goblins, so I think it's fair to say you should automatically know enough about hobgoblins to realize that they look down on arcane magic and describe it as 'elf magic.'

The conspirators do not seem to realize you are around.

I'm not a fan of botting spoilers, because the situation is usually far more complex than a spoiler can summarize. I tend to think that GM judgement, based on an observation of how a character has acted in the past, is better than a pre-written spoiler. If the GM is not comfortable botting a player (for example, if they're not familiar enough with that class), then another player doing it is a good option. (I've also on occasion as player arranged for another player at a table who was familiar with my character to bot me if needed, if I expected I might not always be able to post in a timely manner.)

I do feel strongly that delay is not an appropriate way to deal with the situation. I would rather a game halt waiting for a player than delay be used in such a way.

I think the best conclusion here is that this is something that should be in a GM's profile. If a particular solution to the problem bothers a player, they can try to avoid GMs that rely a lot on that solution.

I don't think this scenario is exactly fair to tell you there is a time limit and then punish you for going straight for the needed result, so I want to warn you that failing to explore the other rooms on this floor can reduce your rewards.

The humans do their best to listen to Kwiazy's instructions. The woman seems a bit restrained in her screaming, but the teenage boy enjoys the chance to practice his blood-curdling scream.

The guards do indeed move away, and seem to be just within hearing range when the screaming happens. They continue to move away.

The off path is actually great. I'm having a lot of fun.

My posting has been very delayed because my baby came home. Things were very very busy getting things ready for her, and then helping her settle in at home. I won't be back to normal posting for a while, but I do hope to get things slowly rolling forward and keep them moving.

My baby is almost six months old, but was born very prematurely and has not yet left the hospital. She is making lots of progress and getting close to ready to come home, which is why she needs me so much right now. This situation is why I've been so slow as a GM, and I apologize for that.

OK, team, I'm going to declare that you've figured out how the levers work. Making you try all the possibilities just is not workable in PbP. You would definitely eventually get it, we could just stall the game for a week or two at each intersection. For that reason, I'll allow you to go through any intersection with a turntable as if the turntable were going any direction it can go.

Seelah discards her Blessing of Iomedea for a boost, and also discards (actually recharges because it's a spell) Abeyance as the top card of her deck.

stealth check, blessing, smite: 2d6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + (3) + 1 = 12

stealth check successful, so henchman not encountered.

The watch commander seems overwhelmed by your obvious amazing monster-ness and ability to help the Legion, and so gestures for you to follow. He takes you into the camp, and stops outside a tent. A hobgoblin standing near the tent moves towards you, clearly annoyed you are there. He seems to look down on goblin pipsqueeks.

I have a question. On scenarios like 5-08 The Confirmation, is it cool to roll in advance what enemies the group will be fighting on the variable encounters? Does that need to be done in forum, or can that one be made off-screen?

That can certainly be done before the scenario starts, and does not need to be rolled in public.

Let's look back at the history of this, and hopefully that will help everyone.

It has (as far as I know) always been true that you could only have a character in one game at a time. Several years ago, this wasn't a problem with playing pregens, because you didn't choose where to apply your pregen credit until after the adventure. Then, the rules changed and you had to choose who got the pregen credit at the start of the adventure. Due to how things were worded, that meant that the character who was going to get the credit counted as 'in a game,' including for the rule of only one game at a time per character.

I cannot say for sure yet about how this applies to PF2 games, because I have not been able to carefully digest the rules yet. Hopefully that background will explain the discussion about PF1, however.

She values goodness more than following the rules, although she strives for both. On occasion, when needed to pursue good, she has 'failed to notice' things such as companions telling lies.
