Could more items be written as modifiers to base items. instead of unique items. For example the holy avenger. In 1e its only available as a cold iron longsword, but why not make it a set of powers that could be applied to any weapon like a battleaxe or a starknife, based on diety.

This format change could also be applied to specific magical ammunition and alchemical weapons like the tangleshot arrow to allow for all types of ammunition to be used. Some abilities could still list restrictions on the types of weapon/armor that they can be applied to.

In a homegame you could make whatever alterations you wanted to any given items, but in PFS items tend to be more by the book. Which means that by formatting all items as modifiers to be applied to a category of items would create a lot more options for players.

Back in 2012 I accidently deleted my -2 character from my account before I had a chance to report any games to the character. The character isn't dead.

At the time I sent Paizo a message, and spoke with Vic and Ross if there was any way to restore the character. They said there wasn't any way to restore it. Basically once it was deleted it was gone from the Paizo system.

The error message "wrong type of character" shows up when I try to report a session with my deleted -2 character. Is there going to be any way to fix this, or is the character completely unreportable now?

Misfortune (Su) Anyone attacking the waterway mistress must succeed on a DC 17 Will save or suffer misfortune until the start of their next turn. Anytime the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, it must roll twice and take the worse result. An attack during a new round triggers a new saving throw. The save DC is Charisma-based
Transparency (Su) When underwater, a waterway mistress's body becomes transparent, effectively rendering her invisible. She can become visible or transparent at will as a free action.
Water Dependent (Su) A waterway mistress is mystically bonded to a single city's water supply and must never stray beyond its border. A waterway mistress who moves beyond her bonded city's border immediately becomes sickened. Every hour thereafter, she must make a DC 15 Fortitude save to resist becoming nauseated for an hour. If she remains outside the city for 24 hours she takes 1d6 points of Constitution damage, and another 1d6 points of Constitution damage every day that follows-eventually, this separation will kill her. A waterway mistress can forge a new bond with a new city by performing a 24-hour ritual and making a successful DC 20 Will save.
Fountain's Favor (Su) With a touch, the waterway mistress can read the faint magic of a wish made on a coin or small token before it was thrown into the water supply of her bonded city. If the wisher's intent is noble the waterway mistress grants them a small boon. She consumes the wish from the coin, and grants a single reroll on any ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check made by the target while pursuing their wish. the target must decide to use this ability before the first roll is made, and the boon remains until used.

The shy waterway mistress enjoys watching the political games of civilization, and making contributions while trying to remain hidden. She travels the city's interconnected waterways looking for new secrets and lost treasure. While animals help her gather information and delivering messages to local heroes. She helps protect good communities while helping downtrodden folk fight back against cruel rulers. Several waterway mistresses might divide up a larger city. They prefer garden fountains and pools as their homes. They tend to attract song birds who act as their informants. Their homes often attract the local residents due to their fountain's favor ability.

Do the feats Ammo Drop and Juggle Load, from Halflings of Golarion, work with the Halfling Sling Staff?

Ammo Drop (Combat)
Source Halflings of Golarion pg. 23
Your coordination is so perfect that you can simply drop ammunition from your hand at the exact moment required for it to fall into an open sling as your twirl it around.
Prerequisites: Sleight of Hand 1 rank, proficient with sling.
Benefit: You can load a sling or one end of a double sling with one hand as a swift action or move action. This does not provoke an attack of opportunity.

Juggle Load (Combat)
Source Halflings of Golarion pg. 23
Your fingers are so nimble that reloading your sling is almost effortless for you.
Prerequisites: Ammo Drop, Sleight of Hand 1 rank, proficient with sling.
Benefit: You can load a sling or double sling as a free action. This does not provoke attacks of opportunity. This feat allows you to fire your sling as many times in a full-attack action as you could attack if you were using a bow.

The halfling sling staff is an exotic weapon(martial for halflings) that takes a move action to reload, and reloading provokes an attack of opportunity. limiting you to one shot fired a round unless you can reduce reload times.

The Warslinger FAQ on the racial trait sets the precedent that the word sling only covers the sling, and not the entire sling family of weapons. Since ammo drop and juggle load, from Halflings of Golarion, use similar language to warslinger by saying it works one way for a sling and another way for the double sling. They now only work with the specific weapons listed, and not the broader sling family. This means that there is no way to reduce reload times for the halfling sling staff down to a free action allowing it to get multiple attacks in a single round, or to prevent provoking AoO for reloading the sling staff.

Does anyone know of a way to work around this new limitation? Otherwise the sling staff is useless to anyone with more than one attack a round.

Trait and Feats:

Warslinger: Halflings are experts at the use of the sling. Halflings with this racial trait can reload a sling as a free action. Reloading a sling still requires two hands and provokes attacks of opportunity. This racial trait replaces the sure-footed racial trait.

Since Gen Con is right around the corner. Here are a couple of documents that players might find useful in keeping their characters organized.

New Character Reference Sheet - Helps organize character information prior to their first game. Extremely useful for brand new players. It also has several charts and tables from the PFS campaign guide for quick access.

Gear Tracking Sheet - helps keep track of slotted items and consumables.

Career Log - helps keep track of all XP earned by a PFS character. The two boxes are for faction logos, portraits, etc.

A father brought in his two sons and a few of their friends to play PFS. The kids are around 10, and just picked up the beginner box last week. I told the dad where to download the basic PFS rules, but I wasn’t sure how to handle getting the kids info set up in the paizo system.

Is there an age limit on creating an account on the paizo website, so they can register a PFS membership number on their own account?

If the children can’t create their own account, how do their parents set up PFS numbers for each child on the parent’s paizo account?

The proportional scale of a human figure changes slightly depending on the effect the artist desires. The general rule of thumb for an average scale human would be 7 heads tall and 2 heads wide.

Have any artists worked up rough anatomical scales/ratios for the physical proportions of the non-human races in the CRB?

I recall there were some sketches that appeared in the old 3/3.5 books, but it looks like Paizo might have changed some of the race's scale ratios for their artwork.

The day’s events include four new, one-hour quests highlighting the Beginner Box characters and rules. No experience or supplies(dice, pencils, miniatures) are needed to participate in this free event. The Beginner Box uses a streamlined version of the rules from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game from Paizo. Pregenerated characters will be provided to all players.

The Event will take place December 11, 2011 and will begin at 12pm when the store opens. The 4 quests run for 45 to 60 minutes each.

There will be a signup sheet at the store, or you can sign up by replying to this thread. Please make sure you reserve a spot to ensure that we have enough room for everyone. We will do our best to accommodate everyone who shows up. Depending on demand we may have a second wave of groups beginning at 3-4pm.

All participants will have a chance to win some prizes. Those who complete all four quests will receive a special reward: a Pathfinder Society Chronicle sheet to welcome them into the Pathfinder Society (or to enhance any existing Pathfinder Society character).

I was thinking of making a Ranger with the Wild Stalker Archetype for Pathfinder Society. Two separate abilities say to replace Favored Enemy with the new Archetype abilities.

Rage Powers Ability replacing Favored Enemies matches up, but what baseline abilities should Wild Talents be replacing?

I would like some clarification on the Master of Trade, Qadiran Prestige Award, from the Pathfinder Society Field Guide. It says that once per session you can make a single purchase at a 10% discount, excluding spellcasting or material components.

Does this count toward initial magical item purchases, such as buying a Potion of Cure Light Wounds or a Belt of Dwarvenkind?

How does this work for upgrading equipment, such as when you upgrade a Masterwork item to +1 or adding keen to a +1 weapon? Does upgrading the original item count as a spellcasting service, since you are not selling the old item and buying a replacement?

The feat Arcane Preparation can be found in Complete Arcane. It allows a spontaneous caster to prepare spells. The prepared spell holding a spot in their normal spells per day until cast. This allows the spontaneous caster to apply meta-magic feats to a spell ahead of time, and be able to cast these spells at their normal casting time.

For a home campaign you can just use Complete Arcane. Since CA is a 3.5 splatbook it can not be used in Pathfinder Society play. I was looking to see if an equivalent was available that was legal for Society play, since I do not own all the books listed in Additional Resources.

I have no idea why the original thread was moved to a different forum, since it isn’t a rules question. This is a question on the contents of the Additional Resources listed for Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

In 3.5 there was a feat that allowed spontaneous casters to prepare spells. This allowed the casters to prepare spells with metamagic feats applied. The benefit would keep the shorter casting time instead of the full round spontaneous metamagic casting.

Has a similar feat found its way into a Society legal sourcebook?

My group is about to start a new campaign in a few weeks, so I have been researching possible minis for each of the players. Finding a suitable mini for one of the characters is proving to be difficult. The player hasn’t made a final decision on race. He will most likely be human, but hasn't ruled out dwarf or half-orc.

The character is a male bear totem druid/barbarian using natural bite and claw attacks. He is using leather armor or breastplate.

I’m looking for something similar to Space Wolves or D&D Shifter overall look. I'd like to stick to an unpainted metal mini. The problem I’m finding is the only minis I’m finding with claws are a few vampire minis with the fangs/claws but they don’t have the proper outfits or lycanthropes.

Incorporeal: Creatures with the incorporeal condition do not have a physical body. Incorporeal creatures are immune to all nonmagical attack forms. Incorporeal creatures take half damage (50%) from magic weapons, spells, spell-like effects, and supernatural effects. Incorporeal creatures take full damage from other incorporeal creatures and effects, as well as all force effects.

Ghost Touch: A ghost touch weapon deals damage normally against incorporeal creatures, regardless of its bonus. An incorporeal creature’s 50% reduction in damage from corporeal sources does not apply to attacks made against it with ghost touch weapons. The weapon can be picked up and moved by an incorporeal creature at any time. A manifesting ghost can wield the weapon against corporeal foes. Essentially, a ghost touch weapon counts as both corporeal or incorporeal.

Scenario: a magus is fighting a incorporeal creature while using a ghost touch weapon. If he cast a spell and channeled it through spellstrike would it do 50% damage or 100% of the damage to the creature?

The first set concern the Bladebound Archetype. Can you add the black blade template to an existing magical weapon? How does the black blade template affect how magical weapons are upgraded through paying for permanent enchantments vs the temporary improvements made from the Arcane Pool rules?

A question I have with the Spellblade Archetype. The Force Athame can be used for a offhand attack per the two weapon fighting rules. Do you need to use the Two Weapon Fighting feats to reduce the penalty for doing so, or does the Magus Spell Combat ability reduce the penalty to attack rolls?

The Exchange 5/5

According to the Additional Rules appendix the third version of the Magus playtest is no longer valid for use in Society play. Since it clearly states the playtest is only legal until the release of the retail version of Ultimate Magic.

I was going over Ultimate Magic, and planning updates to my character. I posted a few questions about how certain rule mechanics should be interpreted. All the replies stated that the Additional Rules section had not been updated to include Ultimate Magic.

Checking the website, the Additional Rules page has still not been updated. Following the rules as printed no player can use a Magus in a game until the update is released. I have already had to reschedule my weekly game to this weekend, so I wouldn’t have to miss playing. Hopefully I don’t have to ask to cancel this weeks game altogether.

The Exchange 5/5

As I’m looking through Ultimate Magic while I prepare to update my Magus Society character I had a few questions.

The first set concern the Black Blade Archetype.

Now since Magus becomes finalized I get to rebuild my character to fit the current rules. Will there be rules for allowing preexisting character classes to swap out abilities they currently have to pick up new abilities or archetypes that are now legal for use from ultimate magic or other future sourcebooks. Druids or Clerics replacing domains or Sorcerers swapping bloodlines, etc…
