@GM, you still around?

Standing near the cat is a young elven woman. If she's still at all taken aback by the appearance of the others, it doesn't show on her expressionless face. Like her cat companion, she seems almost bored, but while his detachment is more aloof, she seems almost annoyed. She wears a scarlet cloak over a fairly simple black tunic and skirt. In her hands is a long and warped staff, with a strange symbol at the top of it. Her dark hair falls several braids, and her eyes are dark.

Reflavoring her bow for a staff for the purposes of description because it is Cooler

Persephone is quick to follow Jet and Pahistea into the cellar, leading Black Phillip with her as she goes. Memories of running from her home as a child wash over her, remembering the chaos, the screams, the smell of death, as the Blightfey slaughtered everyone she knew. Now, standing just inside the cellar, terror once again seizes her heart. "What's out there?" She asks of the tavern owner, her face going white as a sheet.

Sorry gang, the site being down constantly threw me out of whack on all of my games (made worse by the fact that I had never dotted this!). I'm catching up now and I'll be ready to meet up once this encounter ends!

Sorry to hear, Jam. :(

Echoing the problems with the site here. Will try to have a post up tomorrow.

I'm in Boston so EST. I mostly post in the mornings but am around pretty much throughout the day since I work from home.

How are we doing for skills, guys? Particularly social skills. Clover I guess that's your area?

I don't think you or Elric have crunch yet, but for the others of us:

Acrobatics +4 (Barhador)
Climb +7 (Barhador)
Diplomacy +7 (Clover) / +5 (Persephone)
Heal +5 (Clover) / +4 (Persephone)
Intimidate +6 (Persephone)

Kn Geography +5 (Barhador)
Kn History +7 (Persephone)
Kn Local +5 (Clover)
Kn Nature +8 (Persephone) / +6 (Clover) / +5 (Barhador)

Spellcraft +5 (Clover)
Stealth +7 (Barhador)
Survival +6 (Barhador) / +4 (Persephone)
Swim +7 (Barhador)
Use Magic Device +8 (Clover)

Arguably the only things we're coming up short on (aside from other Knowledge skills) are Sense Motive and Bluff.

Healing as well, depending on how much we have in the group or not I was wondering about dropping the Hex Channel archetype and concentrate solely on debuffing enemies.

Clover has Cure Spells and I think(?) plans on being support.

Barhador also has Cure Spells.
I have 0 spells for quite some time, but I can cure some conditions.

Probably we should get a wand, but I think there's a good spread for now, so I think it's probably fine to drop the archetype.

Also, since we're both Witches - Aside from Cauldron, I won't get any Hexes until 4th or (more likely) 5th character level, so don't worry about stepping on my toes with any debuffing stuff, either. I'm presently going to just hit things.

. . .

Okay now I'm going to riff about some potential relationships.

Elric:
I think that there could be a strong connection between Persephone and Elric as people who have experienced some horrors - Elric with war and Persephone with the slaughter of her people by the Blightfey. However, I also don't think either of them are really in a place to talk about what happened to them or what they saw. So it might be more of a subtle thing with recognising some similar traits in each other but not having spoken about it?

Barhador:
I actually kind of love the idea that Barhador has been or will be trying to "court" Persephone, because it gives me the opportunity to explore her sort of fear and shame with relationships to other Elves, and has the potential to be sort of hilarious when Barhador sees how angry and violent Persephone can be. But the main thing for her is that she absolutely thinks your tribe is already dead, or soon will be. I'm not sure if you're interested in exploring any kind of romance with another PC, and it's super fine if not - Persephone is young enough by Elf standards that you might come to consider her more of a little sister? Either way, I think there's enough with Barhador doing more to try and keep his tribe/traditions alive and having hope in the future (while Persephone is filled with guilt and hatred and fear) to make an interesting dynamic for them.

Jinx:
I think Persephone probably feels badly for Jinx as an outsider herself who was easily adopted into the town. But probably not badly enough to do anything - she's had enough bad luck. But I think she'd buy herbs from him, even if they were ones that she didn't need or had enough of already, just like, trying to make things a little bit better such as she can.

Clover:
I'm actually not sure what our relationship would be like, if we had one. Clover sounds like she's coming to Phaedar looking for friends/companionship and while Persephone would like those things, too, she's not exactly leaving her shoppe for them. Anything jump out to you or is it safe to assume that we don't really know each other and will have it develop organically?

Hey hey! Thanks for the selection. I'll get my alias all updated. Looking forward to playing with all of you. :)

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

In general I probably won't roll Initiative / take combat turns for Phillip unless specifically prompted - his goal is to basically avoid combat at all times rather than to fight or be near any kind of hazards. Let me know if you'd rather I do it anyway for tracking purposes

Persephone looks at Black Phillip, searching the goat for some kind of expression, while he contently eats grass. 'You're being foolish, she tells herself. 'Expression? He's not human. And what happened before was coincidence, or dumb luck. He's just a goat.'

Shaking her head, she looks at the chaos unraveling down below. As the sphere begins to crack and yellow mist comes out, Persephone yells down to the others. "Uh, hey! There's... it's opening!"

As her voice is somewhat drowned out by screeches, she raises her hands to her ears, and looks down in horror at what might be coming forth.

Just to point it out: the arcane pool enhance only 1 weapon at a time. So 1 claw, not claws ....

And you need a specific arcana to use natural weapons with spell combat.

Yeah I'm not really thinking about spell combat so much, but that's a good point about only affecting one claw at a time. Maybe I'll take a pass on Magus for now, I was just looking for a potential way to raise my claw damage a bit. An eventual single-level dip into Warpriest to get Sacred Weapon damage might be my best bet.

Fortitude: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Persephone watches from above with concern as the others move closer to the meteorite. As the sound bursts seemingly from nowhere, she clasps her hands over her ears. When Simeon drops, Persephone moves closer to the edge, nearly falling into the hole. "Is he alright?!" She calls down loudly.

Brilliant, thanks! That's definitely the problem with something as large as Pathfinder with some of the holdovers from 3.5 / d20, is there's just so many little cracks where things can fall into.

F Elf Magus 4 [ HP: 32/32 | AC: 20 | Fort +4 / Ref +5 / Will +5 | Init +6 / Percept +10 (Low-Light) ]

Hey GM, I was finally! porting over my character sheet and making final tweaks when I noticed a problem with something I wanted to do. I'd been thinking about going VMC into Magus but the Arcane Pool feature specifies that:

Quote:
At 1st level, a magus can expend 1 point from his arcane pool as a swift action to grant any weapon he is holding a +1 enhancement bonus for 1 minute.

Since I'm using claws and not "holding a weapon", I wanted to see if this would still work, or if I should drop the VMC idea. It seems to be one of those weird cases where I'm not sure what is/isn't intended to count as weapons. Eg: Improved Unarmed Strike says you're always considered armed even when you aren't, but the esoteric archetype specifically calls out that you can use Arcane Bond with unarmed strikes.

Before

Illyan Sobachesky wrote:
"Abbicka, an you Phersepone, how smart are your companions? Nero is my familiar and he has human intelligence."

Persephone cocks her head to look at Phillip, standing to the side and staring at them. "I... I'm not sure." She shakes her head, looking back at Illyan, "He seems terribly clever at times. But he cannot speak or anything like that."

After

Reflex (Black Phillip): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Reflex (Persephone): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10

As the group is watching the last firework go up, Black Phillip bites down and begins to tug at Persephone's clothes, trying to drag her off. "Come now," She scolds. "Don't be afraid, it's just fireworks."

When the object gets larger and larger, Persephone begins to panic, looking for Phillip, and finding that he gave up and moved without her. "He knew." She mutters to herself. She tries to run after him as the meteor crashes through the trees. And then everything goes black.

Persephone HP: 14/24

Persephone opens her eyes to Black Phillip staring at her and Turiel calling after her. "Ugh." She groans. "Yeah, I'm alright." She forces herself to sit up, rubbing her head. "What in the world was that?"

F Elf Magus 4 [ HP: 32/32 | AC: 20 | Fort +4 / Ref +5 / Will +5 | Init +6 / Percept +10 (Low-Light) ]

Persephone and Phillip have no trouble keeping up with the speed, and despite not having spent long in the cabin, Persephone finds herself more at ease walking back into the wilds. She smiles at the deer and nods in agreement when Simeon calls them beautiful. "I've seen a lot of scenes like this since I've been gone." She says quietly. "They don't get any less special."

Sense Motive on Jerry: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Persephone grins at Jerry's story. "Quills and claws? You're lucky to still be with us!" She laughs, and nods towards Phillip. "Don't worry about chasing him none, he's smarter than some people I've known."

Looking around as the others arrive, she can't help but notice the tiny lizard creatures, nor the large cat that accompanies Nero. "Pet friendly bunch, aren't we?" She mutters. Noticing that the other animals have an aversion to Black Phillip, who only stands and stares, she wonders for a moment why she doesn't have a more... lively animal accompanying her.

She shakes her head. No. Phillip was right for her. He was solid, stoic, taking everything in stride. She heard once that goats could eat anything, even human bones. She shudders at the thought, wondering if that's something Black Phillip would do. 'The important thing,' she thinks, trying to get her mind away from the topic, 'is that he can handle anything.'

F Elf Magus 4 [ HP: 32/32 | AC: 20 | Fort +4 / Ref +5 / Will +5 | Init +6 / Percept +10 (Low-Light) ]

Persephone walks through the forest, crunching leaves and twigs under her feet. She tries for a moment to count how many days it had been since she last stepped foot in the town of Hescoy, and can't. "I haven't found that I've missed it," she admits, looking at the goat walking beside her.

A gift from her mother, Persephone was told the goat's name was Black Phillip, and she had long stopped bothering to attach a lead to him. When he wanted to follow he would. When he wanted to stop, well, there wasn't anything she could do to drag him along. Still, he was generally agreeable, as he was now.

She frowns, thinking of the town that lay ahead. "It isn't that there is anything wrong with it," she explains, "but I feel like I've rather... outgrown it? The last... oh, however long, with you and mother in the forest has been so different."

Realising that her adoptive parents would be wanting to see her, she pauses. "I'd forgotten about them. Does that make me horrible? They raised me and I do love them so, but... oh, how to make them understand... Maybe I've outgrown them, too."

With a sigh, she absently places a hand on Black Phillip's head, ignoring the shiver that runs down her spine as she does so. The two of them step from the forest and into the clearing, the pond and cabin visible. "Oh! There's Jerry." She lifts her hand to point ahead. "Looks like some of our friends have already arrived."
