"They're still here! Othniel says, quickly. "That wasn't teleportation, they turned invisible." Hoping his earlier tactics might work again, he casts Create Water, causing 6 gallons of water to appear roughly where one of the demons had been. Maybe we'll at least be able to see it from the water splashing off of it, beading up and running down, something? I don't have glitterdust or anything.

As Othniel moves forward, he speaks a few words of Celestial and gestures with his free hand. Six gallons of water appear from the air just above the armored ruffians and splash across them, hopefully providing a moment's distraction. Create Water

Othniel remains silent for a long moment, considering trying to argue with his uncle. but he's a stubborn old bat. I'd probably get nowhere. Decision made, he calls out to Aravashnial. "Be careful Uncle. I expect to meet you again at the Defender's Heart. Until then."

Othniel quickly channels magical power into his staff then lashes out with a two-handed strike from his quarterstaff.

"Alas no, Uncle. It looks like it may have been specifically targeted, in fact; many of the surrounding buildings are not nearly as wrecked. The great hall seems to be intact yet, but almost nothing else remains. I'm sorry." Othniel says, only just managing to hold back tears himself. He had spent many hours at the library growing up in his uncle's care, but knew the time he spent there paled in comparison to what his uncle had.

"Hold still uncle, there's a creature up ahead." Othniel says, before reaching down to pull the cord loose from his leg, relaying the creature's description to Aravashnial as he does so. I tied it like shoelaces, where you could pull one end and release quickly. Call it a Move Action? I don't have Knowledge(Planes), but hopefully my description is enough for Aravashnial to get a roll, even at a penalty. That done, Othniel steps in front of Aravashnial and casts a pair of quick spells. 5-foot step, Standard to cast Shield, Fervor to swift-cast Shield of Faith

Othniel stays with Aravashnial all the way up, lending his own staff if Aravashnial doesn't already have one, or using rope (tied so as to be quickly released if necessary) to tie his left leg to Aravashnial's right for a sort of three-legged race system.
Male Tiefling (of half-elven descent) Gestalt Magus (Staff Magus)/Warpriest 3
Othniel reaches out a hand to take Aravashnial by the arm. "Yes uncle, it's me. As for how I got here, well, it's hard to say exactly. i was in the plaza for Armasse, then, well, you know as much as I, probably. The chaos of the attack, the collapse, and I found myself down here. I was lucky enough to link up with Ayaal, here" He says, beginning to point her out then dropping his hand and feeling foolish. "And we made our way to here, where we encountered Chief Sull and his people." after a slight pause, he asks "I can see you're a bit worse for wear. Are...are you going to be able to manage, until we can find a cleric who can fix that?"
Male Tiefling (of half-elven descent) Gestalt Magus (Staff Magus)/Warpriest 3
Othniel shrugs at the talk f ancestry. "Well, my father was a half-elf, though my mother was human" he says, running a hand across one of his pointed ears. "But I know what you're really asking." he says, uncoiling his tail as he says so. "My parents were both wizards, and, my great uncle tells me, were part of a group of wizards who sought ways to close the Worldwound, which sometimes involved forays into that benighted area. It is possible that some in utero exposure to energies, whether arcane or extraplanar, caused my...mutations. Or at least, that what Uncle Aravashnial always told me. My parents disappeared on a mission when I was an infant, you see. My great uncle raised me."

Sorry, saw that the post was up yesterday just after I finished gaming with my in-person group, but it was bedtime and I had to work all day. Standing behind and to Ayaal's side, the other newcomer looks between the group, regarding each in turn. He seems to have stepped from a greyscale painting, without a single spot of color on him. He wears a cloak, half black, half white, over leather lamellar armor, itself made up of pieces alternately died black or white. His hair is coal-black, his skin chalk-pale. His grey eyes are the only intermediate shade. He carries a staff of ebon wood, bound in ivory rings. To the casual observer he seems to be a half-elf, but the keen eye will note odd bulges in the back of his cloak, and that the white 'belt' encircling his waist is actually a tail. After regarding everyone, he holds up his left hand, tattooed with Nethys' holy symbol. "Greetings. I am Othniel, a warmage and disciple of The All-Seeing Eye."

Ok, this is Ouachitonian's submission. Othniel is a Magus (Staff Magus)/Warpriest. Never tried the Staff Magus route before, usually I play a Bladebound &/or Kensai when I play a Magus. But this seemed like an interesting archetype, and the quarterstaff is the sacred weapon of Nethys, so it fits. Expect me to want dibs on any magic staves we find, especially once I hit 10th level and can treat any magic staff as a magical quarterstaff (though I might prefer to go the Legendary Item route and craft my own). I've built him as a true neutral spontaneous-inflict caster, with the plan of spellstriking with those once I hit 6th and can take the Broad Study Magus Arcana, but if no other healer is selected I'm down to retool him to spontaneously cast cure spells, I can always memorize the inflicts. I really want to crit someone with a Harm spellstrike one day. Otherwise he's fairly straightforward, not as many skill points as I like, but I'll get more next level when I bump his INT to 16. It's a pretty MAD build, but I think it'll be loads of fun, mixing arcane and divine. What's that book he's carrying? A Spellbook? No, I think it's a holy book. Surprise! It's both! Q&A is also in my alias, but I'll post it here as well for convenience.

Alright, this is Ouachitonian's submission. Othniel is a half elf born in Crossroads to a Drow and a Yakuza. He's grown up with a foot in both underworlds, but also made his own way. He mostly serves as a go-between and translator between various factions in Crossroads' underworld. Mechanically, I took a dip of gunslinger followed by Magus (Eldritch Archer) 4. I always have wanted to spellstrike with a pistol. Now I can do so while wearing a nice suit in a speakeasy. He can do some more generalized arcane stuff, has a decent (and rising) number of skill points. But mostly he talks and he listens. And, when necessary, he shoots people.

With a shrug and a nod, Othniel follows Taz. He does, however, slow a little, letting the others pull ahead of him. He subtly glances around for anything unusual. Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37

"Yes of course, we'll certainly help. But...did you say that this on the *moon*? That's fascinating. I didn't realize it was habitable...." Othniel trails off, though whether because he realizes that one of his logorrheic tangents is inappropriate at the moment or if he's just lost in thought is anyone's guess.

I personally prefer having a map of some sort so that I’m not having to say “Ok, can I reach X with a single move or will it take a double?” or “Is Y within 30 feet?” Or “Can I get into a flank on Z without passing through a threatened square?” In a home game, that takes two seconds. In PBP, it can take hours. Much easier to just be able to look at a map. But I have done “Theater of the Mind” in PBP before, so I’m willing to go with that if that’s what everyone else wants.

As Othniel walks up to the tavern again, he is more worried than normal. I wish Lauren would give me more details before she goes off to Mendev on her crusades. I suppose that's what I gt for not going with her. But...I'm so close to a breakthrough on a new form of black powder, I can almost taste it. Oh well, maybe this time we'll face some real evil, and I'll be able to tell her when I get back about how we slayed a pit fiend or whatever. I wonder if pit fiend blood could be used as a binder....is devil blood flammable? he takes out his note pad and jots that down to check out later. Then he walks in, his silken robe shimmering like flame as he enters. Glancing around, he sees Tazwell romancing some warrior woman, and his friends sitting at a table off to the side. He nods to them as he approaches. He sits down with his back to as few people or entrances as possible, and nods to the others before taking a long look around the room. Satisfied, he asks "What have we got?" Taking 10 for a 33 on Perception.

Othniel could have been involved in some recent demon hunting as well. His girlfriend’s been bugging him to get his nose out of books and do something Good for the sake of doing something Good (Paladins. Never interested in the fascinating magical minutiae. Why, with a little more research, I could find a way to synthesize Alchemist’s Fire and Black Powder for a more effective, easier to utilize propellant...what’s that? Demons to kill? Yes dear, that’s fine. I’m coming. [sigh]) I’d planned on the AP itself being the “something”, but he can get a jump start.

I tried to keep Othniel’s background intentionally vague. At least for the last few decades. In my head he’s based out of Kyonin, but that could move elsewhere as needed. Wherever he’s based, he makes trips all over, so he could just be someone various party members all worked with at one time or another, or whatever.

Alright, this is Ouachitonian's submission. Othniel is an elven Magus, who has studied technology as much as magic, rather to his family's chagrin. He has collected various magical and technological trinkets from all over Golarion, and even other planes. And yet he has never been outside Golarion on the Material Plane. Plane Shift is easy, compared to reaching Sovyrian or Triaxus without the benefit of one of the aiudara. He mostly concerns himself with research, much to the chagrin of his paladin girlfriend, who pushes him to go out and do something for the sake of Good, instead of just for Knowledge. He keeps meaning to, but the secret to more effective gunpowder is *right there*, and I just need to do a few more weeks of research... Basically, he shoots things to death. I've heavily focused on Scorching Ray, taking Magical Lineage and Spell Perfection with it. His Maximized Empowered Elemental (Acid) Scorching Ray (cast as a 4tth Level spell) is even more fearsome when the rays are riding a succession of bullets from his Holy Corrosive Pistol. And let's not talk about what happens if he manages a x4 Critical while spellstriking with Disintegrate. He is a bit specialized. But he's also got a lot of skills, all the flexibility of a Magus, etc. Any technically I can pick up a rock and throw it and still spellstrike; only some of my feats are specific to the weapon. The background is probably a bit thin. I'm not used to trying to come up with the background for so accomplished a character, nor the points, goals, secrets, etc format. If it needs touching up, let me know and I'll do so. Edit: I should probably note, all the background, sheet, questions, etc are in the alias. I know you said we didn't have to create one, but I had this one lying around from a campaign that died a while back, so I figured I'd put it to use.

Given the water, I’m not sure I’d have been able to set up a flank this turn. I added the numbers in just to be sure, but subtract 2 from the attack and 3d6 damage if not.
