Background:
Imagine them, a fleet of Yoroi so thick they blotted out the stars as they approached. Systems quaked at mention of their name. Implacable, monstrous, and now gone. After the Great Schism, the fleet lies in ruins and their most terrible weapons lost to the Fade, never to be seen again. A handful of Yoroi remain, despite the centuries, though many decided to die as gloriously as they could rather than allow the Fade the time it wanted to reclaim its gifts.

So now they have turned from the fear of galaxies to myth. Some still hunt the remnants of the Yoroi, hoping to extract the secrets of the Fade from them. Others look for powerful allies in them, too proud to learn Yoroi's price or too desperate to care.

If you know where to look, the Yoroi will listen and if you can pay the price they may even aid you. A goblin market, a farm, a prison ship.

There has been one in a prison ship for a long time. It is assumed he has been there since it embarked, kneeling silently in his cell refusing to eat. There are rumors of course, rumors that he turned against the scant few Yoroi that remain. Rumors that he glassed an entire planet out of spite. Rumors that he has enough sins to outweigh the evil on the rest of the ship, but you know how rumors are.

The Yoroi:
Which planet the Yoroi originated on has been lost or carefully hidden, but they rapidly became well known and feared throughout the universe. Describing them as soldiers would not do the species justice. To anger the Yoroi was to court death, to renege on a contract with them was to guarantee it. Their mastery of the Fade, a space between spaces, and their own Prana or living energy, made them a terrible force to be reckoned with. Their ships could not be tracked or predicted and their weapons defied most sciences or magics.

To the Yoroi, there was not such thing as a noncombatant, the idea was alien to them. Every single Yoroi was capable of great violence and all other pursuits were secondary to their perfection of the art of war. They lived for centuries and those that felt their powers waning submitted to a ceremonial execution and had their consciousnesses uploaded into Yoroi warships. Many bound themselves to the Fade itself, drawing the power there to form armors and weapons that fed upon their Prana to unleash terrible destruction.

They do not tower over most other species but the unnerving thing is their refusal to show their faces to outsiders. All Yoroi armor includes a full face mask which obscures their features and small but highly effective packets of deconstructor nanites that render faces into unrecognizable puddles of organic matter. All that is known is that they are bipedal humanoids with a frightening penchant for killing.
