Rallying Cry (Su): At 1st level, an arcane duelist can use performance to rally dispirited allies. Each round he makes an Intimidate check. Any ally (including the bard) within 30 feet may use this check in place of his own saving throw against fear and despair effects. Those already under a fear or despair effect can attempt a new save each round using the bard’s Intimidate check. Rallying cry does not work on effects that don’t allow saves. This is a mind-affecting ability that uses audible components.

This performance replaces countersong.

Background:

Born under the watchful gaze of Desna, or so her family believes they are, Ornella called Varisia her home.
She and her family partake in travelling mostly around in Varisia and sometimes to other countries, making music wherever they went. She has 2 brothers and a sister, an uncle on her father's side, her parents and a grandmother. Her father Zanko, a violinist, and her mother Azolla, an harp-player, were famous musicians, always enjoying a welcome reception wherever they went.
Ornella has always enjoyed music and dance, receiving a flute from her parents on her 10th birthday, she was taught by her uncle how to play it.
On her 16th birthday she got the tattoo each member of her family had, a brightly coloured tattoo in the form of a butterfly on the back of her left hand, a tribute and thanks to Desna for her blessings on the road. Besides the tattoo she was also instructed by her father in swordplay, as now she had to defend their small caravan as much as the other family members did.

Besides learning to sing, dance and play the flute, Ornella was taught a little magic by her grandmother. It showed that she had a talent for magic, she was especially gifted for sonic spells. Though her magic sometimes came out when she was losing herself in song and dance, she eventually learned to shut of her mind from outer influences to focus on her spells not going awry.

Now she has been travelling along the road alone. A few months ago her tattoo began itching on her hand, she knew she had to travel alone, instinctively she set out on the road, riding alone until she had reached her destiny. She travelled along different countries and cities, eventually coming to the city of Sandpoint. Then, the itching stopped, she knew this is were she would be needed in some way or another. She is telling tales and performing inside taverns for the last few days, waiting for the next sign.

Personality:

Ornella is very sociable, loves to sing, dance and play music. She always appreciates other musicians wherever she goes, be it an orc on drums or a human with a guitar. Growing up in a travelling group, she became a real teamplayer, doing her part as much as she could.
In combat, she will do anything to help her comrades, either by singing, stinging with her spells or swinging her weapons.

Appearance:

She is 5 ft 6 inch, brown-red long curly hair and often wears an orange headscarf. She looks good-natured, with a slight sparkle in her eyes. She wears traveller's clothes with a combination of orange, brown and dark-green in them, topped of with a black cloak with an orange lining.
The distinguishing tattoo of Desna has often granted her a roof over her head when she needed one, but keeps it normally hidden under her white sleeves.
