About Omyt Rossohovich

The life is harsh in Irrisen. Not only because of its climate, but also because of the traditions of the Jadwiga. Though all Jadwiga are descendants of Baba Yaga, there is no unity between them, and immoral schemes, betrayals and even murders are usual things – kept far from peoples' notice, of course.
So, nobody could really even notice the child's dissapearance, or maybe they didn't care. No one nowadays knows how did it come to it, but Omyt's first memories were not of Material Plan, but of the First World. Being just a little child, he lived in Anophaeus, a city near the feet of colossal Eldest, known as Imbrex the Twins. It is under his control the young foundling survived in the usually very dangerous First World, as every devotee in this city knew the will of their stoic lord – and, due to young Omyt, Imbrex's will was that this human must not be harmed. No one knew or wonder the reasons of such protection, as the Eldests' will is not the topic for question or debates.
There, Omyt lived and studied until the age of eleven, learning a lot about the First World, its habitants and alchemy, to which he had quite a talent. He even managed to create a familiar – homunculus Crul.
Though, this sometimes hard, but therefore calm life came to its end, when Imbrex ordered Omyt and Crul, that it's time for them to leave. As usual, the Twins' will was unquestionable, and young foundling obeyed, as he always did. The will of his patron send young boy far away, to the Material Plane, and he found himself in the city on the board between Material Plane and the First World – the city of Chillblight became his new home.
Far from Imbrex's protection and guidance, Omyt felt as lonely as never before, and only his telepathic link with his familiar helped him to withstand that shock – and survive on the icy streets of that fey's outpost, where human's life costs nearly nothing. Though, Omyt was quite lucky – he was adopted by a childless Jadwiga family, who were descendants of Queen Urvalane.
Omyt wasn't strong enough to fight inhabitants of Chillblight, and he quickly find out that those who thought about a life of crime – the thing absolutely unnatural to Anophaeus – found themselves soon beheaded by the strict order of Mauxpaudi, Prince of Feyfrost. But not only guilty, but innocent were beheaded too for ever been suspected in crime.
Nevertheless, Omyt learned to live in this city, in neighborhood with gnomes, winter wolves and cold fey. He also learned to be suspicious and ready for everything. His familiar Crul was especially useful as scout and spy, and sometimes even as a thief, and his talents and stealth were very helpful indeed.
Omyt lived in Chillblight for more than ten years, but once a day some occasion brought guard's attention to him. He falled in love with a fey from council's family, and her family decided to get rid from an unwanted admirer, putting a false accusation on him, in knowledge that it equals the death warrant. But young fey managed to warn her friend, so Omyt, who didn't have any illusions about Mauxpaudi's judgment, had a chance to flee, and he used it. Knowing that if he'll get caught in Irrisen, he'll surely be departured back to Chillblight, Omyt Rossohovich decided to leave the realm and went east, down the Frozen Road, through Issel, Bosorka and Coldwater – to the Realm of Mammoth Lords. There, down the Gullik river, he fought with weather and natural hazards, being saved by Kellid tribes more than once. In one of these tribes he heard about the Pathfinder Society, and thought that its can be a chance to start a new life – if he succeed in getting to Absalom, which was half-world to the south. But that idea gave him a goal, ending his aimless exile. Motivated by the idea of becoming a Pathfinder and a possibilities it could grant, Omyt decided to get to the city of Absalom. He asked Kellids about the way to Absalom, and one of them told him that there were two main ways, each dangerous by its own. The shorter way lied through Hold of Belkzen, land of orcs, where even toughest heroes can be easily killed, but it was the only straight way to get south without returning to Irrisen. The other way was through Varisia, but to get there, Omyt had to survive among the peaks of Kodar Mountains, which wasn't easier even for a bit. Also there was a way far east, where he could get to Ustalaw, but to get there he had to go dangerously near to Worldwound, a place full of demons and their cultists.
This choise was really hard – no matter where to go, Omyt knew his life will be on the edge of the knife. Orcs, demons, or cold mountains with unknown predators – all of them could easily kill young man. But he also knew that he can't fall back – not now, when he decided to get to Absalom at any cost. A lot of days he spend looking at the map and thinking about his new goal, which seemed to be more and more impossible. Therefore, he was no sponger, and tried to help the tribe by the best of his abilities, taking care about the wounded and ill tribesmen. For the time spend with Kellids, Omyt learned to respect their way of life, but his dream was too strong for him to stay. So, when the tribe came to Hillscross, Omyt told them about his decision to leave. He thanked them for their kindness and was going to go to the south all alone, but they stopped him and told about the caravans that were going through country of orcs. Rossohovich was very surprised with this information, but he believed in it.The alchemist knew that its surely a death road, but he thought that maybe its exactly the path Imbrex wanted him to go. With these thoughts Omyt came to the lands of Orcs - Hold of Belkzen lied before him, beautiful and dangerous.
No doubt it was the most risky part of his journey, as any encounter with orcs could have resulted in Jadwiga's death. But thanks to Crul, who didn't need to sleep, Omyt was always on watch. Though they had to hide a lot from most brutish and savage orc tribes, or simply run from them, they managed to survive for months they needed to cross these dangerous lands – and they succeed to leave orcs' land right before the Flood started, as the caravan master overseen. Maybe this precaution was exactly the one which saved them – only gods know for sure, if they ever care about Eldest-worshiper.
These months in Hold of Berlkzen didn't go unnoticed – Omyt didn't have much time for taking care of himself, so, when he finally passed the border of Lastwall, he was looking like a really old man, with his long hair and beard, which strange color was disquised by dirt, worn clothes and tired, haggard face. The human patrol that meet them first thought of him as about an escaped or purchazed orc slave – so badly he was looking at these days. Jadwiga decided not to disillusion them, and he even didn't need to do anything for that – he was too sickened even to speak more than two sentences.
He was brought to Vigil, where he came back to more or less normal condition surprisingly fast, and decided to travel further, regarless the locals' friendliness. He managed to negotiate with a another caravan owner, who was going to travel south, and joined it as a healer. During these negotiations Omyt learned that his journey already lasted for year and a half, which surprised him greatly. The trip with the caravan was long and not always safe, but Omyt was at least as far from danger as it was possible, helping to threat the wounded. More or less peacefully the caravan came to the che city of Vellumis. From there, Omyt made himself employed as a ship doctor, and was traveling abord the ship at their journey through Nirmathas, Molthune and, lastly, Druma, to the town of Macridi. There scion of Baba Yaga changed his job again, and went with the caravan which headed west, to the Elidir, capital of Isger. Though he did a lot to succeed, Rossohovich's journey was not over yet – he had to reach to the capital of Andoran, from where he could take a ship to Absalom... The capital of Pathfinder Society was so near Omyt coudn't even believe that he almost did it. But the problem was that Isger and Andoran were not friends at all, and roads between countries were full of bandits. To try to get there alone was to meet a sure death, as there wasn't a chance to evade these outlaws. The only way to get there was to believe very suspicious people – the smugglers. And the road to Andoran wasn't cheap at all – it took nearly all Omyt's accumulations to pay for this dangerous trip.
During the trip Omyt understood, why the payment was so huge – every time their party got caught by bandits, smugglers tried to get rid of them, just giving them bribes or “passing tax”. If the “tax” was too high, smugglers and their bodyguards tried to kill bandit parties, if they weren't too big. The loss of bodyguards and migrants didn't bother them much. As one of the smugglers said, “less people to pay, more loot to gather.” Omyt looked at them, feeling deep hate to their vulturous nature – and feeling strange understanding that in most societies such people are usually the most... successful, so to say.
In a couple of days Omyt found himself in Falcon's Hollow. There, he tried to find himself a new caravan to travel to Almas, but there were no caravans, and without money Omyt couldn't even hope to get there by his own. So he had to stay in the city for month, waiting for the right moment to leave. He used that time to earn some money through working as an alchemist and to study local flora, fauna... and fey. Due to his worship of Imbrex and knowledge about fey, local fey mostly were neutral to him, still he have made some friends between them. But he never forget about his goal, so, when he has got his chance, he joined the caravan to Almas. There, he finally took the ship to the city he wanted to see more than anything – Absalom.
The first sight on that great city filled Omyt's heart with a feeling of deep success – he did, instead of all the troubles and dangers, get to this island, and now there was nothing that could stop him. More than that, Rossohovich was amazed by the greatness of that ancient human city, and, when the ship docked, he spend all day long walking on the streets of this wonderful city, ignoring even its hot, especially for Jadwiga, climate.
Only in evening Omyt rejected his first impression and remembered about his goal. He found Pathfinders' office and knocked on its door until the tired – or just lazy – recruiter went to him and opened the door... and while the shoked office worker was looking at the Jadwiga in front of his office with eyes and mouth wide open, Omyt Rossohovich Urvalane said only one sentence – the sentence he traveled for three full years to say:

“I want to become the Pathfinder.”
