I can now raise shield and block as a reaction (with the increased AC retroactively added, so its possible a hit will become a miss when I block) and I will do so. Hardness 5 on my shield, AC22 when I block

we didn’t specify what this time but last time we were in the dark Olaf was casting dancing lights, I assume he’d have been doing that again. Which I believe means I need to spend an action sustaining it

”Burn it or don’t, we need to get through. Could be victims or survivors in all this I suppose.” The Northman muses as he looks over the webs and hefts his shield, ready to move in.

Olaf glares at all the webbing and growls, ”This is foreboding, do we burn our way through I wonder?”

"It does all seem to be connected somehow. I guess we are about to find out how."

Olaf grunts and nods, looking at Fentus for a moment, ”Two birds with one bolt then.” he rumbles as he continues to lead down the tunnel.

Prepared spells are listed in the profile, the new second level being Sudden Bolt today.

I decided against craft alchemy and went with assured identification instead, since i already do that quickly i might as well do it well.

The notable change, as I said, will be I can now raise shield and block as a single reaction with Emergency Targe, which should help me be able to get my action economy better, and use Arcane Cascade a lot more (which, convienently will let me block spells with my shield as well if I'm cascading).

Olaf looks relieved at the agreement to rest, and even more greatful when Fentus spends magic on healing him up. "Thank you my friend, I was perhaps more wounded than I was letting on." he says as the group moves to bed down for the night.

As they settle, he pulls his tools out and repairs his damaged shield.

DM do you need me to roll to repair it? I can do it every minute so I'm sure I'd get there eventually with the low DC. Also, do we still have unidentified magic items? I can look at them too.

Oooooo level 4! I’ll detail further when I get my laptop out but I’ve been looking forward to level 4. Now I can raise shield AND block as a reaction (I do lose out on attack of opportunity) so that really opens up my action economy with spellstrike and arcane cascade.

I finally get to act like the rest of the magus sub classes

Added 2 spells: Mirror Image, Sudden Bolt.

Get my second, second level spell slot.

Took Emergency Targe as noted above as well as Alchemical Crafting.

Still need to determine my 4 1st level formulas yet.

I'm open to suggestions, my initial thoughts are just useful things to have:

antiplague (lesser)
antidote (lesser)
elixer of life (lesser)
Ghost Charge (lesser)

but the weapon siphon plus a bomb could be fun too, an extra 1d4 energy damage to my attacks wouldn't be the worse, and with spellstrike I don't do second attacks all that often so the -1 won't come into play all that much, probably.

Olaf looks around the group. ”If we are moving on without a rest.” he shakes some blood from his dripping arm, ”Im going to need to dip into our healing potion stash.”

Thinking for a bit and looking at his second shield, ”and a few minutes to fix my shield.”

That’s right, we lost our player who was skilling up in Battle Medicine and it’s chain.

The Northman shrugs at the comment about there being no more healing and continues looking around. ”Ill live.”

Started training for a new job this week so I’m still working out my work/life/family time change balance, posting might be a bit erratic till I settle into the swing of things once training finishes and my regular hours start.

Olaf breathes heavily after the creature dies, also bleeds a little (maybe more than a little), and looks around.

”She escaped eh? We’ll get her next time.”

Dismissing the loss of their query for a moment he looks over at Fentus, then at their healer and asks, ”Do you have some healing? I’m leaning a bit here.”

Then he notices Trista looking around and joins her in looking for interesting stuff around the cave, casually swapping his broken shield for his spare on his back.

Roaring in pain and rage, Olaf drops his broken shield and still manages to chant out a spell through gritted teeth as he swings his great blade again. Chanting out yet another spell after the blow.

"Don't face them alone, brave Fentus, I'll help. The rest can continue the chase." he rumbles right before he strikes at the big one.

Olaf moves with the group, trying to keep himself, and his shield, as much between the threat and the rest of the group as possible as they do.

Olaf trundles along after their cleric, trying to be ready to fight again when their erstwhile foe showed her face again.

Growling himself to his feet, Olaf glares about the room and finds the wall climbing Voz, cursing at the range, the northman fires out a ray of cold at her.

Wow a 21 failing is no joke at level 3

Had a little 3 night run of insomnia this week (happens mid summer and mid winter for me sometimes, but it’s been a while) so I’ve been a zombie, finally had a solid night of sleep last night so hopefully I’ll be able to read and comprehend properly now.

"Lets keep following the tracks, yeah?" Olaf observes, concentrating on keeping his various lights surrounding the group as they move.

Both kids have birthdays a week or two apart, so we are doing a joint party with a while pile of kids, a bouncy house and all that.

Should be a riot, possibly literally.
