About Globspit McGee

Background:

Globspit was born to a pair of smiths, Goggug and Goomlob, who live and work on the edge of the Rotgut district of Riddleport. The youngest of 13 children, he was smaller and weaker than all of his siblings, even once he hit his full growth. Though his parents forbade any sort of lethal attacks within the family, pretty much anything else was on the table. Though small, he soon learned to use the fact that he was quicker and smarter to start dodging his siblings as much as possible. And once he started working his parent’s forge, he discovered he had both a knack and an extreme interest in making mechanical devices, and started paying back his siblings by setting traps for them, while hiding nearby to observe the results. Though he didn’t always come out on top, his rivalry with his siblings taught him how to take a punch (or kick or headbutt), and to really pay attention to what was going on around him.

His first name comes from his tendency as a baby to form huge globs of spit at the corners of his mouth that would just sit there, neither falling off or getting sucked back in. Though his parents put little stock in surnames, he met a human male at the card table once who entertained everyone with his stories of his travels. Globspit found his tales particularly fascinating, and after the man continued on his way, decided to adopt the man’s last name as his own.

Out of all his siblings, only Globspit and his middle sister, Luckums, showed any interest in the family business. His parents are grooming Luckums to take over the family business, which Globspit is totally ok with. Of his remaining siblings many have wandered out of town, or are involved in their own affairs and rarely contact the family. Several are essentially missing and could be dead.

A few months ago, Globspit was at a bar drinking, when he met an odd group of travelers. They took a liking to him, and they all started drinking together. He barely remembers much of the rest of the night, except that they literally went bar hopping, teleporting around to different places. He blacked out, and woke up in Sigil. He's been there since then, and finds it and it's inhabitants fascinating, and has no desire to return home as of yet.

Appearance/Personality:

Shorter and lighter than the average goblin, Globspit isn’t quite 3 feet tall. With neutral grey skin and eyes, he tends to blend into most backgrounds. The only thing that stands out is that his mouth is even wider than a typical goblin’s. Generally cheerful and upbeat, Globspit is a huge fan of gambling, smoking, and drinking, though an incident with his brothers when he was younger that involved him waking up with no eyebrows and a face dyed bright pink taught him the dangers of drinking to excess. When his gambling debts get too large, he goes and works in the smithy ’til he can pay things off. Though he does enjoy the work, he’s determined to hit it big so that he can afford to build some of the crazy devices he’s been dreaming up. Intensely curious about anything mechanical, he’s spent a fair amount of time learning all he can about making things like siege engines, firearms, clocks, and mechanical traps. He also takes great pride in making his own weapons and tools.

Though he doesn’t understand what seems to him a really strange obsession towards cleanliness amongst non-goblins, he has realized that if he’s clean, he’s likely to be treated better, and more likely to be let in on any gambling going on. He makes it a point to bathe at least once a week, and any day he’s worked at the forge. He also doesn’t understand non goblin attitudes towards food. His parents taught all their kids not to try to eat anything that could actively communicate with you (a rather nongoblin attitude, but one they found it prudent to adopt for the purposes of city living), but anything else was fine. Rats in the city are essentially free food, but he’s found it’s another thing that seems to make most nongobins uncomfortable.
