This is a new addition of Pathfinder Please eliminate or untie the rule that you have to be proficient with light or medium armor to be Proficient with heavy armor. It make NO sense. Proficiency means trained in. You do not have to be trained in light armor to be trained in heavy armor. all it would take is an arms master to put you in plate armor and train you only in that armor for you to be Proficient. Make each type of armor its own Proficiency. Make feats to make one better in each type of armor.
IMO the only reason a Paladin would b trained in Medium armor is that the Temple was poor and did not have old suits of heavy armor to train their novices in. Paladins have many more important things to learn than the proper wearing and fighting in armor that they will only wear when they are Novices. Temples would have fundraisers to buy heavy armor for their Paladins or better yet trade healing with the armorers guild when their members get hurt. This same logic works the same way with fighters to a lesser extent. Fighters would train in schools or guilds and rent their members services to caravans to pay for armor for their members. enviormental conditions would be a more determining factor if a fighter was trained in light or medium armor than heavy armor.
I have found many things in the new play that I like. The simplified action economy. Character Generation looks interesting needs a few bugs worked out but easily fixable. Classes need a great deal of work as do races but with a little bit of love fixable. Things I dislike Resonance totally unnessary IMO it adds book keeping and adds nothing to the game.
The new skill system looks very good. Though I am somewhat confused as to how you gain from expert to master to legendary. I also think that with the different levels of skill mastery makes it easy to add magic items tomes that advznce ones skill mastery between levels. cloaks and boots that advance ones steath or athletics mastery levels. my most disliked thing that i HAVE SEEN is staffs. again this is easily fixible Have the user pay each day to invest ones staff and not pay when you use the them. Instead during downtime Resonace would be paid to recharge the item. I have found many things I like and only a few easily fixible things that I think that are in need of repair. my bigggest gripe is not how the game works it is how the rules are writen you have added far too much unnessary verbage that adds nothing to the game but confusion. for instance in the action ecommny added a new term that is confusioning . I can't remember the word right now but it strikes me as some sort of adjutive describing a phase in your 3 actions. as I understand it you get three actions move attack cast[sometime casting takes more than 1 action] this is simple dont add complexity where none is neeeded. your 3 action economy is very very good.
I thought the whole point of the New rules was to streamline rules not make them more complex. Shields are being made more complex. Paizo is changing how shields have worked since the inception of D+D. Shields have always added to AC. How do you determine if you can add enchantments to shields. you used to always have to have a +1 on your armor or shield to add an enhancement to it. Now don't get me wrong I like the raise shield that has been added. DO wooden shields get less DR than metal shields? Why has the hardness of adamantine been reduced from 20 to 13. What is the DR of Mithril?
There is no reason o change bonuses to just change them. What is wrong with an elven cloak giving a competence bonus to what ever skill stealth is tied too. What is wrong with how wands and gaffs functioned in fist ? Who ever is rioting is making things overly complex for no reason. Make it easy if you want to use a staff or wand when you prepare your spells. Spend 1 point of resonance and you can use a number of charges from that item equal to your total resonance score. I would like to put forward an idea. Do away with meta magic rods, if you want to use a meta magic ability bind into your staff if you have the feat spend one resonance and is bound to. Your staff. If you don’t have the feat you need to find a caster that has the feat and spend 2000gp per spell level slott. Say you want to add empower and you don’t have the feat it would cost. You 4000gp and 2 points of resonance the day you have it added to your staff. Then when you invest you staff you would sped. 3 resonance an any blasts spells on your staff would be empowered fo that day. Consumables should not cost any resonance to use. They are basicly temporary resonance batteries. Their creator invested them with power until they are used.
I think that the scribe scroll feat should be a free feat for all casting classes. It's easily offset by giving non casters a free feat or class ability. All arcane casters would learnn this feat in their initial training. I think divine casters would also learn this ability during initial training or brew potion.
When a character takes an Archtype like Necromancer, or Smith mage I think that the archtype should give them access to certain spells at a lower level than normal Like Smith mage should get Permanency at a lower level then a Necromancer and a Necromancer gets create undead and control undead a lower level than a Smith mage.
Is there a way to Quicken a Spell like ability? Is there a way to change what action the spell like ability activates on? It is my understanding you have to use a standard action to activate a spell like ability. I noticed looking through some Devils that they can cast quickened Fireballs. How do they do this? Can a Quicken Metamagic rod be used on a spell like ability?
Hi Mike and Mark, I know that you can spend prestige points to have your body recovered if you are killed while on a mission. What I was wondering how this works. Does the society have a 911 team that teleports in picks up the body of the recently slain and teleports back to the nearest lodge and resurrects or raises the recently slain member that has paid for the service. I have a Hospitaler Paladin that has Ultimate Mercy that would be perfect for such a team. I could see the society have teams like this standing by in major lodges or maybe just the grand lodge and when the newly alain distress band is activated t-porting in and picking up the body and then t-porting out. Spoiler: I know the Ten have the ability to do this since I have played eyes of the ten.
Mr Brock, why is the warcat of Rull not allowed? Dino's are allowed mamoths are allowed but you' do not allow war cats. Anything that is cool the leadership either nerfs or bans. Why should we buy new books and give money to pazio if the best things in the books are not allows in PFS which is supposed to be the marketing arm for PAnzio. At least let them be tested for a season to see if they work or not before outright banning them. War cats are farless powerful than. Many eilodons that i have seen, both are class features. AT least PFS gives out better treasue thn the AP's . Less banning things from new material until they are proven to be broken.
Vic, can we get some male barbarians themed from the land of the Linnorn Kings. I have like 4 or 5 figures of Amari great figures but I need a Male non Shontai for my own PC's. We need Aasamir paladin type figs also. We need Oreads and Ifreet mins. Hobgoblins. Can you do a set of minis from the monster manuals maybe 75% 25% mixed with the NPC codex minis. How about a set for the Hell's Rebels AP. Just filled up my 1520xl bag and need more minis.
Buying meta magiced scrolls. If we can buy metamagic rods, gain meta magic feats, gain meta magic abilities via class abilities it makes no sense that we can not buy scrolls that have meta magiced spells on them. Step 1 allow caster to buy or receive via class ability the Feat scribe scroll but rule he has to pay full cost to scribe the scroll. This eliminates slow progression casters from being hosed buying scrolls.
Step 2 rule for heighten that is on level per caster level increase of the heighten spell example 11th level caster wants to heighten daylight to 11th level he would have to pay to equivalant of a 9th level spell 3 for the basic level of the spell and 6 levels for the heighten. Heighten is messy because it is not a fixed cost like other metamagic spells. The real easy way would just make heighten a fixed cost I would make it a 3x like maximize because it is that good.
Are the Iconic minis going to be released as singles?
If Quinn is anything like his artwork he is going to be one of the best figures ever made as he totally paid of his artist to give him the best picture ever. Maybe being the Investigator and all he has the dirt on the artists and hold it over them to make his pics just better than all the rest.
Rob would it be possible to post test character that the testers used at 5th, 10th and 15th level. I would like to see how they are geared out and also show them to my GM. Part of the problem I seem to be having with the AP is one of expectations. Through 10th level I have not found anything useful to my character a 10th level bloodrager our wayang
The treasure that we have found in no way compares what we are awarded on chronicle sheets for the AP that we apply ot our PFS characters. Placing one real good item ie the bronze dude does not make up for the rest of the characters getting squat there is all kinds of cool things we could find in this setting. Why did you not put items like a decanter of endless water, cloaks of comfort, bags of holding or handy haversacks even +1 metal armors with the comfort enchanment. perhaps a camel figurine of fabulous power a really cool item for fighter type character's would have been armor like what was in the tv show Star Gate that retracts into a torc worn on the neck. All kinds of mundane jewelery would be grat treasure awards we could take them back an trade them to our buddy : The Crystal dragon for information or magic items that he might have found since our last encounter with him.
Mike, what is the point of limiting 2nd level wands until after 6th level as 2nd level wands cost 4500 gp. IMO that is vey excessive . There are no game breaking 2nd level spells. I really did not look at this before as in pfs I normally play Maltial characters. It seems to me that the cost in prestige to buy magic item needs to adjusted downwards. What is the magic level the campaign low or medium? The magic level cannot be seen as high in any means as by 10th level martial charcters are Lucy to have arms an armor of +2 or greater?
My Gm has told me that I could get magical tattoos that would take take place of a belt slot item. I was Wondering what the price adjustment to make an item slotless. The Item that I want is a +4 strength belt
as a GM what do you do when you run into a party that has very limited knowledge skills. Last night I ran Weapon in the Rift. None of the characters had knowledge Planes So they could not ID the demons or the Hound Archons. They did not have knowledge arcane so it was hard for them figure out the prisms and how to use them. I told them about the suits in the room with Galchor but they had no clue on what they di so they ignored them they really d not have the time to fool with them any way. I tried to help them by adding a magic item to aid them in the boss room but they lacked the skills to figure out them item [bracers] and did not want to just put them on so they were not used. This whole scenario was very frustrating as I felt that I had to push them through the scenario. Besides TpK'ig the party what do the rest of you GM's do when this happens?
Can a dire tiger be taken as a companion? You can buy one according to the animal archive. If you have a dire tiger you should be able to do the same ritual you do for any other animal companion then train him. Note. This is for Druids, Hunters or Ranger-Beasmasters and other arch types that do not have a restricted companion list.
