Male Human Witch 4
Nicola stands outside the tomb, weighing on his cane. "Who doesn't love graveyards," he says half-sighing, wishing that he was as lucky as the young girl a moment ago-- she had gotten paid for being here. He idly plays with the ferret, who stares at him with thoughts unbound and wisdom in its goofy face. He scratches it under the chin, making it yawn repeatedly. Tapping Fearn's shoulder before he heads inside, it lights yellow like a torch, providing Shadrick the necessary illumination to make out any details.
Male Human Witch 4
1. I want to rest soon because I'm down to charm person and bungle. Both of these only work on humanoids. I have a strong sense we will not be fighting any humanoids besides maybe the Baron. 2. Sounds like a good first choice. 3. Sounds like a fine second choice as well! 4. Agreeing with Fearn. 5. I'll videotape it.
Male Human Witch 4
If he's discriminating against me religiously? I can't think of a time or description where Nicola displayed a holy symbol or religious preference on his person-- enough for this guy to look at me and go "Oh, he's a Desna worshipper". I can't recall if I ever did. My holy symbol is hidden inside of a compass and I'm wearing long sleeves and a coat. The only visible tattoo is a seven-pointed star on Nicola's neck. If it's 525gp? Whatever. That's extortionate prices-- close to 3x the normal rate. Someone should diplomacize him-- I would try to but I'm deaf.
Male Human Witch 4
Austus slips from inside of his coat, Nicola's coin purse in his mouth. Taking it from the ferret, Nicola chides him with a boop on the nose. Humorously, he realized, he was as deaf as a ferret. "Is he asking how we're paying? Are you asking how we're paying? I'm paying with coin. Can someone ask... padre, how much coin is necessary for the spell components and the Midnight Lord's time? I'd gladly pay your fee to be rid of this irritation, this malady."
Male Human Witch 4
Seeing what Shadrick is doing, Nicola runs to help. Heaving what little weight he has, he uses his cane as a lever. "Shadrick, I told you-- I'm deaf! Stop shouting, I can't hear you!" Aid Another: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 Summoning up powerful strength, Nicola helps-- a lot, actually. I love being deaf. ... But with that dice roll, wish I wasn't, haha. Should've pointed. :P
Male Human Witch 4
Quote: Remember that everyone has a mirror image from symbol of mirroring! Odds is a mirror image: 1d20 ⇒ 7 So Shadrick's mirror image poofs. He doesn't take any strength damage. See above post: I ill omen it on my turn! It's rolling twice and taking the worse result on its next check. Ill omen has no save.
Male Human Witch 4
Without a magic weapon, your attacks do nothing. Hint: take Sanira's chain. Fearn will probably know the above with his religion check, and Sanira is blind. Better than nothing. We'll back you up. Fearn should smite it and you two can probably take it if it decides to get antsy. Or, throw some roleplaying at it and see if it sticks!
Male Human Witch 4
I think you meant Shadrick. Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 "If it's incorporeal, do we need magic to harm it?" he asks, hoping that someone else can answer. Then he realizes... he's deaf. "I'm deaf," he says out loud to everyone else. "So if you're talking to me, stop." He readies to stop the shadow if push comes to shove, drawing the mirrored paper again and holding it up to refresh the spell across his allies. Readying Ill Omen if the shadow takes a hostile action, and here's my d100 roll to see if I fail-- 1d100 ⇒ 65. Remember that everyone has a mirror image from symbol of mirroring!
Male Human Witch 4
Nicola stares at the blood-soaked fey for an instant before signing an arcane symbol and closing his fist. "Choke on this," he mutters, unaware he's audible at all. Spellcasting Failure: 1d100 ⇒ 78 - 80-100 I fail.... close. Save versus blindness. DC 16, so he'll crush it, but whatever. :P
Male Human Witch 4
That's a good idea, but he'd just take it off. None of us have ranged weapons-- at least, none that are effective. Drawing a starknife from his belt, Nicola hurls it at his target-- the floating sun. Ranged Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
It spins completely off balance. With a shrug, Nicola gives the sun a disparaging and irreverent hand gesture.
Male Human Witch 4
He turns his attention to the shadows and rolls his eyes. "Desna laughs at you. Go play somewhere else, pitiful thing." Surprised to not hear himself speaking, he grimaces. A slight chuckle escaped his lips. "Clever," he says as he steps away from the light. It gets to make a will save versus misfortune! I'm cackling! Woohoo!
Male Human Witch 4
"Ah. Good." He brandished his cane. Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Really dislike lurkers in light because you need to cast deeper darkness to dispel their magic. I'm pretty much completely useless in this fight, since every single effect I have is targeted. Like I said-- glad I wasted faerie fire (which turns this encounter into a joke immediately) on Viluki, and I'm certain I fail that fort save.
Male Human Witch 4
Nicola nods. "Alright. You worship darkness over there, Sanira. Bring any with you?" He continues-- "It's a lurker in light. It's invisible in the light, but if we can try to remove that advantage by darkening the room, we can give it to you and Fearn." He turns to the light-- or, at least, his best approximation of the light. With a flick of his wrist, he lets magic flow through him. "Lūmina noctem," he whispers, and hopes its enough. Gonna hit the mundane lights in the room with dust of twilight and if it hits the bad guy that's fine too. Are the lights close together? If not I might just douse some now then walk around clubbing them. This is where I feel stupid for wasting faerie fire on Viluki...
Male Human Witch 4
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 "The Baron, like always, proves his genius. You seem very legitimate," Nicola says, and readies himself for spellcasting. Can I see this creature at all? Every single one of my abilities is targeted. And to get a guess at what this might be:
Male Human Witch 4
The two Fearns meet hands for an instant like a pastiche of some kind of fairy tale until Fearn's second image moves through him like a ghost. "That's the point. The illusion has proclivities to confuse and annoy in close combat-- it shouldn't hinder you." "Shall we move on? I'm interested in the vengeance you were talking about." He respectfully chooses to not comment on Sanira's request to abandon his religion.

It's hard not to show off. "Crowded," he says, and unfolds the symbol. A second Shadrick stands beside the first-- a second Sanira and a second Fearn as well. A second Nicola turns, standing side-by-side with the first Nicola, even their most minor motions exactly the same. Both speak in the same voice. "Like this." He re-folds the scroll and tucks it into his coat pocket. Everyone has a mirror image!
Male Human Witch 4
Nicola looks her over, says her rites and turns her onto her back. He closes her eyes and palms a pair of coppers across her eyelids. He picks the key from her side pocket and turns it in his hand as he stands up. "Key for a door. Hopefully, that door." He hands the key over to one of the other far more burly far more armored men, fetching an old piece of paper out of his coat pocket. "Don't be alarmed when things start getting crowded." Drawing that old scroll of cure mod that I used back in the day, and getting ready to unfold it to reveal the symbol of mirroring.
Male Human Witch 4
Waiting on you actually. You took the other shadow's turn on it's turn so I figured you were going to do the same on the second, and it could greatly change what my action could be. Nicola has a touch of 8 and they have a +4? attack bonus. If I got crit I could actually die-- if I got hit for any damage above 3, I wouldn't be able to carry my gear and would have 20-30% spell failure. An aside: incorporeal isn't 50% miss but half damage from magical effects, including weapons. It's why Shadrick can't harm him. It doesn't matter because he's immune to fortitude saves, but I thought I'd let you know. I also have no idea how I cast that spell-- it's not one I have prepared... It's a mystery?
Male Human Witch 4
"I can give it a whirl," he says. "Incantatum acarnum visio," he speaks, bringing to mind his old Varisian training-- before the real magic set in. Detect magic's up now too! Anything unique or interesting? I'll make a pre-emptive Know (arcana) for auras and such for you. Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Reflex save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 Nicola coughs in the wake of whatever that just was. "Magical trap?" he posits and inspects a little closer. Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Seeing that they're descending into darkness, Nicola snaps his fingers. "Incantatum lux." A pair of four spectral torches appear in the air around him, igniting, before swerving through the air to hover uneasily around each of his companion's shoulders. "This should help." Nicola takes the ladder last, once everyone else has gone-- as he descends, his leg swings like he's hung a weight from it, threatening to unseat him from the ladder at any moment.
Male Human Witch 4
Nicola reels back and clubs the creature with his cane. For a moment, he really does remind everyone of a much older man. Cane attack!!! against prone while standing: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 4 = 15
After swinging, he turns around and lets out another laugh, this time... deeper. "I'd spare an insult, but I'm sure you can't understand me," he spits, and makes the sign of the ill-begotten moon. His left eye flickers with a deep, significant light. Grasping his cane tightly, he doesn't move back, trusting the magic armor and his three able-bodied allies to protect him Standard action Evil Eye (DC 16) for -2 to attack rolls, move action Cackle. So, misfortune and evil eye both running concurrently.
Male Human Witch 4
When his turn comes up... Nicola makes a gesture with his fingers, lifts a foot off of the ground and closes one eye. Peering through his hand, he speaks: "Oh, Desna, goddess of fate, thou who scry upon the wheel of fortune-- laugh," and a smile crosses his face. He starts to laugh, softly. Standard action Misfortune (DC 16), move action Cackle. Those are links!

Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28 "Imagine that the entire world is written down somewhere in permanent ink. Countless upon countless pieces of parchment, each and every thing about the world set down, substantial, real. Permanent." Nicola doesn't like the mannequin either, and glares at it a little as he walks into the shop. "The fey are a child's vicious crayon drawing on the fabric of the world. They're the revenge of the first draft of absurdity given true form. They come from the First World, the world that predates this one as a sort of 'test' plane, where the laws of the universe were devised by the mind of a mad man. There's nothing they do that isn't terrible, because they're unknowable." "What I expect to find here is nothing short of the worst possible thing we can think of."
Male Human Witch 4
"I can only imagine," Nicola sighs as he pushes open the door to the chandlery with his cane. "It looks like they left the door unlocked for us. How kind. Shall we?" he gestures to the interior of the shop. Nicola isn't first, but he's second or third into the room, looking around and keeping wary. Perception!!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Male Human Witch 4
"There is no god for cowards," he says, rather gravely, to Fearn as they arrive. Drawing a wand, Nicola taps it against his forearm and is covered in wispy blue light for an instant before it dissolves into butterflies. He looks at the doorway and looks to Shadrick. "Want to knock?" Mage armor wand, finally comin' out!
Male Human Witch 4
Nicola responds by quietly laughing for a moment. "He's very atypical, actually-- I didn't see a single scar on him, and he had each of his fingers." He sets his hat back on his head. "If you're talking about in personality? Very. The Nidalese have an inborn tendency to give themselves over to darkness-- they've been doing it all their life, after all." Alright-- so, we walkin' over to the chandlery to get ourselves some chandles? ;P

He's eating someone with giant fun-sized utensils and having dinner conversation with the other person in the room, who is chained to the floor and being whipped by a gnome wearing a party hat. I hate fey. Let's go blow it up.
