i have a group making chr now and was wondering what people out there have/are made/making.

Grand Lodge

so awesome this class is. IMP stop making it like a fighter lol its a refreshed monk from PF is how i see it.

Grand Lodge

i still do not have my books just PDF

Grand Lodge

hmmm

Grand Lodge

so Shaudius for the win?

Grand Lodge

i jump at every email only to find disappointment that i have not yet got my shipping confirmation.

Grand Lodge

hey it is cause they are not merchants that care about selling and buying, plus most of the stuff they sell will be to people trying to make money off sells so they will offer less, a good skill role could get more, or role playing out selling to a random, also they are more likely to sell "used often" stuff since they would buy or make stuff in hope of using it and nothing that is not brand new could sell well. that is stranded pricing is all. feel free to dm it how you will. i let my player with a witch sell her potions in town at a little higher rate for one, she has been there awhile and set up a street shop and for two the people who could have sold them seemed to have vanished.... ;)

Grand Lodge

still pending...i do not think my heart can take it lol, thankfully people who do have it have at least 3 post up.

Has anyone even tried playing the game, or is this all fun with numbers. :-)

By the time a solarian reaches 6th-level, they can probably afford a wrack devastation blade for 5,500 credits that deals 2d8 damage. This is decidedly better than using a solar weapon with a solarian weapon crystal.

At no levels in the game does a solarian ever want to use solar armor or a solar weapon, unless it turns out that solar armor is compatible with powered armor.

While there are some levels where purchased weapons compare more favorably, 6th isn't actually one of them. The solar weapon solarian could do 2 less damage than the 2-handed weapon you listed with their one handed weapon at 6th at no cost (notable because 5,500 credits is a good bit of your money at 6th), and with a less expensive weapon crystal (over half that price but not by too much) is doing higher damage with an extra critical effect as a small cherry.

i didn't really want to play this class but with all this; now i just want to play one to see if its good and find a way that it works. iv never found a class that didn't have great game play if you played it right, this one just might be hard to pull off. its like i tell new players want something easy to play that wont hurt you if you pick one or two things wrong? go human fighter....what something you gotta look into and work right that may or may not be able to live play a monk or some spec class.

this has turned into people just attacking each other for what they feel is better/worse. All i wanted was to read some cool stuff and see what people think about different build and all, but instead i get pages of junk... this is why i mainly stay off threads and away from geeks/nerds they just cant get along cause they believe they are right and no one else. stop acting like jerks and just post cool stuff you killing the buzz for people.

I knew envoy was easy to underestimate before we even played so adjusted my expectations, and to top it off our playtest envoy chose a set of powers that I thought weren't as good as another similar set I would have picked, and despite both those things, I completely underestimated the envoy's strength until we actually added one late in the playtest and she made the team so much more powerful. If anyone here has played Fire Emblem, it's easy to underestimate the Dancer/Crane (depending on which Fire Emblem) when you first play in a similar way "I'd have been better with another unit that could just do its own turn), but it's actually the most powerful unit because it gives you more of what you need.

I'm struggling to see how is that the case.

Pathfinder Bard is obviously strong and has way stronger buffing features than Envoy. 4e Warlord is blatantly extremely powerful and needs no excuses. Many buffing classes in many tabletop games are strong and useful at first glance.
However, simply comparing the offensive buffs that Envoy and Operative can provide, Envoy has only +2 to hit over Operative.
I can't imagine +2 to hit being worth all the other stuff Operative has - it's just 10% after all, especially in a game with a lesser overall number of attacks compared to Pathfinder.

The dancer/heron comparison is to the Hurry chain specifically, which came up earlier in the thread. Giving the exact right person extra actions is extremely and subtly powerful. I highly underestimated the value of the extra move actions and was taught the error of my ways.

As to the accuracy boosts, there's a few things, but the math is long. ** spoiler omitted **...

hey does tthe solorain melee weapon ignore dr?

Sniper Rifles become great long range burst weapons if you have either the ability to make a full attack as a standard action, or if you have the ability to make a move action and full attack in the same round. Such as Haste.

Won't help. All Sniper Rifles without exception have the Unwieldy property, which is worded as follows:

"You can't use an unwieldy weapon as part of a full attack (or any other action in which you could make multiple attacks), you can't attack with it more than once per round, and you can't use it to make an Attack of Opportunity."

is there a feat or class op that lets you use it at full atk? or takes the unwiedly off?

Skill Focus being an insight bonus definitely feels like an oversight. The Solarion's Sidereal influence is a variable (d6) insight bonus to a skill, so using it with a skill you also have skill focus in has a 50% chance of doing nothing.

The Operative getting bonus feats that stop doing anything at level 7 (thanks for bringing that to my attention Mashallah, would probably have missed it otherwise) can't possibly be intentional either. If there were a bunch of other feats that required skill-focus as a prerequisite I'd understand it, but Starfinder feats are all very prerequisite-light.

Hope this can get cleared up soon after the book hits the streets, issues like this are why I've never opted for physical copies of player companions, so I really hope that I can feel comfortable investing in Starfinder hardcovers.

I think Mark said that skill focus was to stack in early cuts of the game, but when he checked later in his own copy of the book it was indeed insight, i think that this could easly be over ruled to be able to stack since it seems (from what ive been reading on posts) to hurt some class features.

too much starcraft 2 for you!...although i also agree this would be awesome...even thought about running a starcraft style game since they give me a hive race.

Grand Lodge

which do you like better mech or tecno?

Never what you want to hear, though with hundreds of pages, kind of hard to avoid.
These mistakes have been found by a small handful of people reading the book in about a day. Sounds like they'd have been pretty easy to avoid to me.

maybe but most who are reding this are taking it in for the first time so they make sure to read carfully enough make sure they dont miss or misunderstand how something works. whiel the team would have seen alot of this before and might have done what alot of people are known for doing by R3ading it the right way, 3v3n though there are m1stak3s within. :)

There are definitely some things that are going to need errata/clarification, but not too many that I've seen.

How grenade arrows interact with the more advanced crossbolters that consume multiple arrows per shot is unclear, for one.

i would guess they would be a one per shot to keep from becoming OP. although i dont have the PDF yet so cant really say.

And themes:

Themes look really fun. They are all good at one specific thing and make that specific thing really fun to roleplay. For example, Icon makes your identity common knowledge so literally everyone in the galaxy recognises you by taking 10 on untrained Culture checks.
Overall, as far as I can tell, if a theme fits your concept - take it! They're great, fun, and exciting. Themeless seems to be mostly a last resort option if nothing really fits well.
I did not miss the irony on this one. For all the negativity you have put out about this game before its release, you get to read the game before people who are desperate to get their hands on it. Bravo Universe... Bravo.

i too noticed this....

Grand Lodge

hey thanks,I wanted to post to see if i could find anyone tohugh due to nerds/geeks rear to find out around here. there is a comic book store but to host games there they would want a payment to keep store open unless i do it on a MTG night.

Grand Lodge

my group is shy...

Grand Lodge

hey all i wanted to know if there are any groups near rocky mount, NC that are going to be playing Starfinder and/or pathfinder. Or if there are any players looking a group.

i love this, you just dont know how much i really love this. when people throw out math and other fun stuff i just grin.Although i almost killed one of my old DMs for using a moving bird as a point of origen. every round i would wonder why my math wasnt adding up a cart a hill and the enemys would change in distance. so i asked....wish i hadnt.BTW i only gave him a hard time cause he swore up and down he was smarter than us and was a rules lawyer. ok that was a bit must to say i lvoe when people use math but hey.

Grand Lodge

so i started a group of 6 on rise of rune lords about 2 years ago and after losing players and gaining players we are at 4 players and just near the 2nd half of the 2nd chapter. I asked my players about Starfinder and they all wanna play but they want to play this AP too, so i am glad for the delay in release gives me time to run both games and its not like we can fin one fast anyways. Also an AP is great but you have to add more to it or your players get tired of feeling railroaded and you have to add flavor for your players to make them feel apart of the world and that what they are doing is effecting the world around them. Also if you have a group that just likes to kill stuff and move on they are going to fin fast, givem more to kill, make them evil, or make it where people are afraid of them due to their blood lust.

Grand Lodge

oh ok thanks again sorry new to this.

Grand Lodge

thank for the info. new to subs, and yes payment went through and not pending from what i can tell. EDIT so my shipment is pending but my payment isnt :) that could be why

Grand Lodge

my payment has been taken but i dont see my pdfs yet is there a small time delay? also i did get the subs for all but the maps if that makes a diffance

Grand Lodge

this is great, i am so ready to play starfinder! now its almost in my hands!
