"He was just defending his home. He didn't know he was tainted! All those stupid stupid orcs forcing him to fight, trying to make him a weapon for their own ends! It's their fault! It's all their fault, theirs and the stupid dawn lady what tainted him!"

"Mephits! come to Nana! Kernuffle, you too."

Surrounded by her menagerie, Nana cuddles the reaver, her tears falling onto its broken flesh.

GM, it looks like the Reaver rolled a natural 1 on the bite attack, so I think the dino took 80 damage?

The tyrant lizard, infused with the magic of Belkzen, bellows and swings its tail again!

dino vs reaver: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32damage: 3d6 + 15 ⇒ (2, 1, 6) + 15 = 24 On a hit, Reaver must make a DC25 Fort save or be Dazed for 1 round.

Seeing how resilient the Reaver is to physical attacks, Nana resorts to a different kind of ally:

Summons complete - summoning how many?: 1d3 ⇒ 3 ice mephits. I thought about Fire, given the vulnerability, but mephits don't have Precise Shot.

A flight of cackling ice mephits appear in the air behind the dinosaur - they let fly at the Reaver with magic, sending ice-blue bolts of force at the creature! Then, they swoop around, laughing.

Nana completes her summons, bringing forth a gigantic lizard; as big as the reaver itself, Nana's beast possesses a massive, club like tail. It moves towards the reaver, and then turns and swings its tail...

Anklyosaurus stat block Note that Nana has both Augment Summons and Ferocious Summons; all of her summoned creatures gain +4 STR, +4 CON, and Ferocity (meaning they do not disappear at 0hp).

Since we’re a pbp we’re not going to slow everyone’s game down. I think we just need to make sure that everyone who wants to get to the reaver can do so.

Petting the Reaver makes sense to Nana :D

I try to be mindful of the party with Nana's menagerie - I don't think it's such an issue in the pbp medium, but mass summons do have the potential to be obnoxious at a face to face game.

Nana speaks then in that voice which is not entirely her own, calling out to the creature: "રીવર! મારા હાઇ પ્રીસ્ટેસ ઓળખો અને રાક્ષસ, પાલન! તમે મારી ઇચ્છા પૂરી કરીને ટકી રહેશે!"

Abyssal:
"Reaver! Recognise My High Priestess and obey, monster! You will survive by serving My Will!"

What Nana thinks she's saying (Angel Words):
"Poor little reaver! Look at your Nana! Be a good boy for Nana!"

If the Reaver responds intelligibly, showing the proper deference to the Holy Mama's priestess, Nana acts cautiously - ordering Kernuffle to defend her whilst activating his dire collar to enlarge him. Standard action.

If the Reaver does not show deference to Nana which I think is the more likely result :o then she casts a summoning spell. Ditch Wall of Stone to cast Summon Nature's Ally 5, 1 round casting.

2 votes for summons - just to add a counterpoint, the summons will take a full round to complete whereas I can drop the wall in front of the reaver immediately.

I'll wait a little longer to see if there are any other perspectives before posting actions.

Tactical decision time - I can maybe buy us another round for buffing and getting into position by blocking the door with a Wall of Stone. I don't think it'll hold the reaver long, but it should either force the beast around or make it spend a turn (or so) going through. Or, I can just start cranking out Summons (spontaneous Nature's Ally).

She reactivates Copycat just in case.

Nana scowls and stamps her hoof.

Nana approaches and sees the injured Sarenite.

"You isn't Twisted Nail." She cements the orc's opinion of the Pathfinders. "I is called Nana. I is sorry I's cannot fix you like I's fixed Truk. Maybe tomorrow, if you is still alive."

Nana looks to the magic bowl and casts Detect Magic.

"Why doesn't you get the water yourself?" Or is he clearly too badly injured to walk to it?

I've taken the liberty of assuming that we all share what we discover, and so I've read the other PC spoilers; please read Nana's.

"Oooh, the thing with the four arms is supposed to welcome the sun. The sun comes up over that way - " Nana points to the east. " - so maybe these toys go where the sun goes?"

Nana places Thalacos in the eastern extremity of the ankh.

I've also placed other figurines on the slide where they might match locations of the sun, as follows:

The sword in the west: "Her rose-gold fur reflects the last rays of our goddess before night"

The amber wheel in the north, at the head: "a glowing halo"

The dog to the south, at the foot: "the foundation upon from which redemption arises."

The holy symbol in the centre: "the heart of light, hope, and redemption."

So the shrine is an ankh with 5 recesses - one at the end of each 'arm' of the cross, two at the bottom, and one in the central 'cavity.' We have found 6 figurines and a wooden holy symbol.

GM, is there anything else distinctive about the recesses in the shrine?

I suspect there is an order to the placement of the objects, based upon numbers or positioning. The wheel mentions three prayers answered; thalacos has four arms. Something like that?

Perception, Scholar of Ashkurhall: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 Boon means this is treated as a Knowledge or Linguistics check, so should get the easier DC.

How are we fixed for those other skills? If we're looking short Nana can burn a boon (Scholar of Ashkurhall) to use Perception in place of appraise, knowledge or linguistic checks when examining 'architecture, objects, or writing' for the rest of the scenario. I'll wait to see how other PCs can help before I burn the boon.

Wasn't Blue the confused orc? In which case he'd be locked into attacking Ki'lala, so no change to current outcomes I think.

Nana employs her Pearl of Power to recover her Murderous Command spell.

Nana casts Confusion into the room. Only catches Blue and Teal orcs. Will save DC 19 avoids.

She then activates her Copycat ability a single mirror image as a move action.

She keeps Kernuffle in reserve, on account of the 'library' being so crowded. He remains on 'defend' mode for now.

It looks like there's only the two of us with Know (religion) then, and only a +4 bonus. Anyone got Disable Device, or a useful boon perhaps?

Otherwise, desecration is probably a simple matter for Nana to accomplish - negative energy channel, or dunking her unholy symbol in the font ought to work.

In the presence of the Helm it's 1d4 x 10 minutes for Legend Lore I think. I'm ok with that.

I could try Channeling negative energy. But Nana doesn't really get the whole good/evil thing.

Fortunately, Nana prepared a Restoration spell.

"Oooh, Truk, that leg looks sore! Let Nana fix it for you."

With help from Horacio getting Truk away from the unsafe floorboards, Nana casts her healing spell. I hope this was the 100gp version of Restoration, GM, otherwise Nana may want to take a collection ;)

Oh, and I'm assuming Truk does want the Restoration spell, but he's free to pass it up if he prefers.

"These floors aren't safe! I's getting on Kevin."

Nana reaches into a pouch and extracts a tiny figurine. The statuette is a strange, alien shade of green. It depicts a creature with four clawed legs, and in place of a head it has a mass of tentacles. Nana speaks a word of power and the figurine grows to the size of a horse and comes to life. Kernuffle puts the odd-looking saddle on the creature's back, and Nana mounts it. Kevin hovers around five feet off the ground. Assuming it can take 10 on its Fly checks since we're not in combat.

"This is Kevin. Isn't he beautiful? Look at all those lovely tentacles!"

This is the viridium moonbeast figurine - statblock in Nana's profile, but it's basically a bronze griffon. It has a slower fly speed but flies by magic instead of wings, and its 'bite' attack is a mass of tentacles that sicken.

But what if the poor little Reaver got caught in that ceiling trap and then all the mushrooms exploded because he's so big and he'd probably be angry and might thrash about? That would be terrible! Poor little Reaver! We has got to get rid of that taint, and then maybe he won't be so cross and he won't try to get inside anymore."
