O.O What?!

Is Hell's Vengeance like a sequel to Hell's Rebels?

Yep. Definitely. As evil.

Paizo has never done an AP that's a direct sequel to another AP. JR and SS both had assumptions about previous APs but never has the actions of an AP been the basis of a whole another AP.

I imagine a section in the 6th chapter where the book listed a bunch of NPCs for the PCs to fight with a side bar that tells the GM to use the players HR characters instead if the group had played through that AP. The look on the players when they realize they are going to have to fight and kill their former characters would be priceless.

With Alkenstar getting it's own module later in the year I hope we might see it in one of the 2014 hardbacks.

I could also see these rules used by the GM:

"You arrive at a tavern after traveling through the woods and it has a working bathroom. Whose taking a bath?"

It could give incentive to PCs to explore the town and it's various rooms and amenities.

See, I wonder if we have a Superman thing going on here. Mengkare sees what he wants to see, hears what he wants to hear. I have long wondered how much of the shady doings in Hermea he actually knows about, and how much he knows but choose to ignore for the "Good of the Cause". It would definitely add another wrinkle to the LG-LN argument. Is someone, or a group of someones, doing all of the dirty work for Mengkare so he doesn't have to dirty his paws. What if they went to far, what if they stooped to doing things that Mengkare wouldn't approve of but in their eyes it's for the greater good and they don't need to tell Mengkare about them? And as Superman, what if Mengkare knows whats going on but turns a blind eye to it?

"In the Maelstrom he wrestled for 16 years with a monstrous evil serpent whose scales wept acidic blood until he was able to choke the life out of it."

And this is why Ragathiel is the biggest bad a@* is Golarion!

Quick art thoughts:

Page 83 - The picture of the Mirror Men and Merisiel may be one of the most beautiful piece of art I've seen in a Pathfinder book.

Page 31 - Feiya looks amazing in this piece.

Page 85 - Courage Heart, Milani's herald has a vague Greek/Roman look to her with is really refreshing in Pathfinder.

Hound master!?

Sorry, it's called Huntmaster. It's a cavalier archetype. At first level they get Hunting Pack. She can choose a bird or a dog. She can have more than one companion, but must divide her effective level between her companions to determine the abilities each gets

Just looked through mine. First thought: The Carnivalist and Hound Master are both excellent, kinda down on the Mad Dog (archetypes). Archetypes for animals is neat sounding looking and I need to go back and examine them further. The section on which magic slots each animal type has can use is SUPER useful! Having a page with all the familiars and the bonus' they receive all on one page is super clutch! The twp page spread with Golarion animals and maps with the extent of their habitats is awesome, though I'm a sucker for that kinda of stuff. Also: Llama companion, nuff said!

"10. Do Over! Ready for something different? Wish you hadn't taken that one suboptimal feat at first level? Eager to test out the newest base class? The choices you made yesterday don't have to sour the game you're playing today now that you have complete rules allowing characters to retrain class features, whether they be feats and skill ranks or entire class levels!"

Shades of 4th edition. Retraining is one of my favorite things from that edition and I'm super excited to see Paizos take on it. I don't know how many times a new book comes out with the perfect play option for a current PC and where left trying to figure out how we can fairly allow the PC to swap out abilities. This is a much needed option.

"4. Play Harry Potter. Or Arya Stark, or Ang the Last Air Bender, or whomever your favorite young hero might be, with rules for playing young characters."

Yes, so much YES!

However, even for a robust system like Pathfinder there are some... flaws....

Namely, it is very confusing and hard for TOTALLY NEW players to understand.
The Core Rule Book for instance in clearly written by those that have played D&D from the very start. :) This shows in the current layout. It can be very confusing for a new player to find out what to do. From how to make a new character to what happens when I level? What body slots are there? What is concentration?...etc

What I would like to see in a "Pathfinder 2.0" would be a more user friendly version of the current Pathfinder. NOT a new system, the current one works fine, but a more easy to UNDERSTAND version of Pathfinder. (Specifically the CRB.)
One more like... the Beginner Box set's layout. Something that I can pass to a friend (With no RPG experience) for a week and he can pop up at the table with a character that work.

PF 2.0 could be a simple "updated" look for PF. Like a updated version of a software. It can still do all...

This! Exactly how I feel about the Core Rulebook. Coming from a White Wolf background the CR is impossible sometimes, especially looking up stuff in the middle of games. A second edition must be more new user friendly in it's layout and presentation of information.

I would say that if the amount "change" from 1.0 to 2.0 is not too much more than the changes from 3.5 to Pathfinder I think most people will be fine with it. They made a ton of excellent improvements to the game and I think they could do even a bit more.

I think there is room in a fantasy setting for a religion focused on sex since it seems certain that this is not too far from some historic religions, not to mention some of the free love/sex movements that have occured periodically most recently in the 60's and 70's. It seems to me it is the money/religion part of it that most people have a problem with. Calistrans are the way they are because they choose to be.

I never claimed I had a problem with the religion EXISTING in the setting... My problem was it's 'prominence,' in regard to the elven civilization.

Gods of Lust are a part of most polytheistic religions, But to say it is one of thier 'main gods' is a bit distasteful.

But she's not. Elves worship Desna a bunch too. They also worship a like three hipster elf deities you've probably never hear of.

Not quite the Ultimate Skills book I wanted but still very exciting. I love to see more rules for non-combat encounters.

No more invalid to me than a Varisia book that pretends Korvosa is still ruled by an elderly king when in our world it is ruled by a 14 year old.

Hurrah! In our world!

Presumably, your players completely understand how and why that change happened, they are engaged with those changes and they give your campaign internal constistency. They can understand books with an elderly king as reflecting the history of your game world.

What happens when the metaplot is advanced and a book released in which the elderly king was replaced by a triumvirate of daemon lords?

Suddenly the publisher is invalidating your campaign, the blighter!

The publisher only invalidates your campaign if you let invalidate it. There is always choice.

Also, to be fair only part one of Jade Regent was in Varisia, not half of it.

Isn't it more that: The publisher only invalidates your campaign if you don't have the time to make (and track) loads of changes to the releases you buy and tell your players which bits of their new book are correct and which are not. There is always the choice of putting in loads of effort to maintain your Golarion's consistency against canon.

That is not the reason I buy APs. I buy them so that I do not have to homebrew.

So far Paizo has only made a few things canon in books. I agree that if it got to the point that it is hard to figure out the continuity errors with the official canon that would suck and I don't think anyone really wants that. Paizo isn't there yet and everything I've seen points that they will handle it gracefully. They earned the benefit of the doubt I feel.

And if I ever though one of my players was be reckless or careless with Ameiko's life because he/she thought that Ameiko is "safe" cause "She's going to become an Empress or something like that in a later AP." I would kill Ameiko to prove that no story is set in stone, current or future. Whatever happen over 100 years ago messed with prophecy clearly tainted you opinion on certain NPC's destinies. This goes for any NPC that appears in multiple AP/Modules.

My Golarion is my players and I would change anything in any AP or Module I run my games to support their adventures.

As far as I'm concerned the AP/Modules are suggested stories... really, really, really good stories, but suggestions none the less.

Also, I support limited meta-plot. It makes the world seem more dynamic. As GM, I'm GOD, and I can choose to ignore as much of it as a wish of course.

I always feel it's easier to take away than to add, so keep adding Paizo, cause so far 95% of what you added is excellent in my book.
