As it turned out, the majority of the gear that Mira brought with her was reference materials. Maps, traveler's guides, regional flora and fauna notes, even accounts of prior travelers that had been along this way. For all that they were travelling to a somewhat known destination, Mira did not want to leave things to chance. While on the ship, incidents(or accidents) were thankfully kept to a minimum, but it was obvious that she was more "study" than "practice".
Once disembarked, she was carrying what she could to assist, she trailed after the Professor, leafing through a book on the local area for any insights, eyes down in the book almost as much as they were looking around to compare against their surroundings. This was a new place, and that meant new things, but more importantly— new books and scrolls! The smile would not disappear from her face as she kept up, easily dodging the press of individuals with half of her attention.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Professor Dakaal wrote: "On time as usual, Mira?" he says with a grin. It was a few seconds of blinking and breathing before she felt like her heart was somewhere back in the vicinity of her chest, and she was not in fact hallucinating before she hit the ground. "Aheh... You know me Professor!"
That in and of itself was a bit of an understatement. Shey was the cuplrit of a number of "accidentally on purpose" incidents that could have made her quite notorious if they had been done intentionally. As it was, it was a wonder that her pack had not fallen open or any number of other mishaps save whatever occurred to have her nearly miss the ship and end up climbing one of the mooring ropes.

Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
The ship begins to leave pulling away at a pace that was somewhat of a slow drift, the visual expanse of the port side rotating away from the overlook of Sharn towards the lower city and the environments beyond to the horizon. The feel of the speed starting to increase slowly as the ship began to gain steam is quite the feeling...
The shouts of the crew are not something that typically accompanies it.
Several crew are gathered around one of the mooring lines, others are looking over the side even as the ship continues its departure. Shouts and cheers are part of the display, sounds of disbelief and encouragement are definitely able to be heard, rising and turning to cheers shortly thereafter.
The cheers subside as a couple of the sailors charged with keeping order arrive, the crowd parting to show a female half-orc sitting and leaning back against the railing, panting heavily. A pack and its equipment is strapped on her back and a wide grin is part of the expression of disbelief, but the laughter is certainly relieved.

Concurring with little more than a nod and a thoughtful look, Mira signaled to a server that had been avoiding their table due to the presence of the Lady. She at least does wait until Alexio seems bored with the journal before she takes it and starts paging through it.
Once the Lady departs, she does voice a thought, glancing up from the journal: "Think we'll be followed?"
Something light was ordered, and judging by the set of her shoulders, she did intend to read the whole thing before their departure.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira slowly nodded in agreement, her eyes looking around the room as she was considering the potential danger of an undertaking like this. The outcome was favorable, but they would have to take care.
"In", she simply stated.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Her expression had not changed from the look of vague dissatifaction until Alexio asked the question. It changed to something thoughtful, though there was still a slight frown there. A lot of factors had to be considered, and in this case, while there was a good chance that it would be lucrative, there were commensurate risks.
"Few chances like this will come along. If we prepare properly, we can increase our odds. I am skilled with tools, items, and travel in the world."
Raising an eyebrow, she looks to Halloran.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
A chance to get closer to Cannith and an unnamed reward? Mira was interested already, and looked over at the others to see if she could read anything on their faces. A Foundry such as she described would have immense value to Cannith— or anyone else that could make sense of their designs.
"Considering that he died for it, I'd say he was on the right track..."
Leaning forward, she propped her chin on her fist and looked at the Lady.
"...So how much are we worth?"
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira kept the majority of her attire on, save for the oilcloak, leaving that hanging up in the room to dry. Her attitude was guarded, both due to the company, and the circumstances— made evident by the lack of expression on her face. Her jaw was set and she very much gave off the air of a perfunctory action, rather than genuine interest. Her hands were folded on the table, and the mug of watered ale was left untouched.
Nonetheless, she did sit, curious to know what ties this house had to an attempted murder.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Shaking the oilcloak to get the water off (and see how well it worked, "great deal" or not), Mira's hair was bound tight with a thong, the length of which was woven into the short braid that was tied off with the same. There was no sense of uniformity to her leather, the vest a different shade than the boots, though the boots appeared to be well-made. Her attire was that of a common traveler, except that common travelers did not have a well-cared for weapon over their shoulder, and at their hips.
Utilitarian, undoubtedly.
"A bit." was Mira's reply to Alexio's inquiry. "Drink the ale, skip the stew, and mind your hands around Kat. They stray, you pay."
It was uncertain whether or not the payment was positive or negative, though.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira considered going back to the tavern immediately, but being idle for a long period did not sit well with her. However, there was the weather to consider, as well as the chance that there could be more individuals watching. After all, they were located by a house Cannith member remarkably fast. Wandering around before understanding what had been stumbled into was not a good idea.
Unfortunately, it seemed like the inn was the best option at present, so she headed that way.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira was suspicious. The interest of a house in a random murder and the individuals that just happened to be nearby was way more coincidence than she was willing to believe— not that she was willing to believe in much. Not bothering to hide her interest (or her skepticism), she had fixed the noblewoman with a look that said she had an idea about where this was going, and breezed past.
"Mira. I'll be outside."
The amount of power that the 'marked houses held was tremendous, as this encounter proved. This was an opportunity, but an opportunity for what? Was getting close to Cannith and earning favor something that she wanted to do?
Those thoughts and more ran through her head, and did not quiet, even with the sound of the rain on the hood of the oilcloak.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira has nothing to add, considering that the others gave a good rendition of the situations, and there was nothing that she could say that had not been said. She continues to keep her hands in sight and remain as relaxed as she could.
Once what the others are saying does not seem to have any sort of reaction that would be bad for them, her attention starts to wander around the room, idly identifying the objects that she could understand (and improve).
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Her only reaction was a tightening of her lips and a moving of her hands from under the oiled cloak— where it was dry– into visibility.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
After a couple of seconds of scrutinizing, she dropped her hand, shaking some of the water from the falling rain off and pulling her cloak around her more securely.
"Nothing."
It did occur to her that they were standing over one body, and near another, though. "Any thoughts? We're privy to two bodies before the guard." An eyebrow was raised at the other two, her tone a bit uncertain. "Not a good look..."
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Obviously impressed at the manner in which the assailant was handled, Mira glanced between the three of them, before looking down at the inert Warforged. There was a long pause as she took in the form before she looked back at Not 2 B, before she shook her head and redirected her attention to fallen.
One hand fished in her belt pouch before she produced a hollow metal ring about the size of her palm as she uttered a word.
"Parcaeqa".
She then proceeded to study the fallen through that ring, remaining absolutely still before flicking Alexio a momentary glance. "Don't expect much. I'm not a 'magic type', as you say." She then turned her attention back to the downed individual. The rain did not help her mood, her face set in a stony expression that was enduring the weather and the events that had just occurred.

The flight is joined and Mira can only watch, not skilled enough to attempt to land a shot, and certainly not confident enough to attempt to engage with the assassin at close range. Halloran seemed to be doing that quite capably— with his bare hands no less!
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Not one for overt confrontation, Mira moved towards the nearest individual so she was not an isolated target. That it was Not 2 B, was a happy coincidence. The possibility of being injured in all of this rain was not a pleasant one— wet and hurt was a terrible state to be in. At the same time, now she was curious about what was in the pouch that an individual would come back and threaten the lives of several others for it.
"...nothing good comes of gettin' rained on...", she grumbled to herself, risking another glance around to see if there was a guard station in sight.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira turned in time to see Alexio go over the side of the bridge with no hesitation (that she could see), and was dumbfounded.
"...he just leapt over the side..."
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
In this ran with the water sheeting off of the paths above them, finding anyone would have been a difficult task. Murder could not have been a regular occurrence in this district, could it? She stood a few feet away from the couple of individuals bending over the corpse and shook her head, heaving a sigh and juggling a dilemma.
The last thing that she wanted was any scrutiny.
"You suddenly deciding to be the investigator now?" Come to think of it, she was not sure what "Hal" did.
Gritting her teeth, she turned back to see if there were any guard visible. She was not sure that they passed any on the way here. The sound of the rain falling and the sheets splashing below made everything feel a little too contained all of a sudden.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Covered in an oiled cloak large enough to just pass the tops of her boots, its hood pulled up enough that none of the falling water got inside or wet her clothes, Mira looked much like the Deneith house member. All things considered, she preferred not getting wet, so this was just fine. While the others gave their opinion on the rain, she was appreciating the design that let the water fall in sheets, and the care that was taken in making them fall just so.
Still, the banter was not unpleasant. Her contribution was an amused grunt, loud enough to be heard. "As long as I'm not wet, whatever."
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
That scream was unexpected, but did not distract her. At first, she had thought it was a call for help, and spent a few seconds looking over her shoulder, but by then, Kul and the Strix had closed with it. It did not look to have much chance by the way that they were attacking, so she held back from joining in with the wide arcs that their weapons were travelling.

They seem to have the situation well in hand, Mira will hold an attack for any other hostile entity that may join in.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Voices in her head was not something that Mira was accustomed to having, and that brought her up short, much like it did everyone else. In a reaction, her eyes look everywhere, from the smooth walls and ceiling of an unknown metal, to back the way they came, as well as what was in front of them. So far, this has been an extremely uncertain expedition, and she could empathize with what the others had gone through. She was only hoping that some of the previous expeditions still survived.
She was about to answer Galnikatix's question, when Kurgu replied, and that reassured her that she was not losing her mind along with her sense of comprehension down here. Warily, she rested her hand on the hilt of her hammer, still looking everywhere for the source of that voice.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira as well, was looking around but not touching anything. Kurgu's question brought her attention over, and she looked at the symbols with some curiosity.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira was following in quiet contemplation, looking at the change in the surfaces, as well as what they had encountered so far. "I am not sure that they are 'wrong', so much as they are perhaps crafted beyond anything that we have seen. I do not know the material, do you?" She was torn between awe and worry, wondering about the makers of this place, and their intentions.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
While the others looked for some clue about the skeletons, Mira was thinking aloud, and came over to examine the skeletons themselves. There were a few things that could cause undead to arise, and she would rather not head forward, only to be caught by surprise by more of them. While she was pretty sure that they were once again inanimate bone, she made her way through the sand under the dark sky that was not theirs. 'Sand is always such an effort..'

Skeletons under a night sky that might not have been theirs... Mira got no sense of familiarity from the stars above, but then again, she was more of the type to be watching the ground for snakes and scorpions. Her hammer was in her off hand, the offered torch falling to the sand below just in case it was needed, and she hesitated on drawing her pistol.

A wince was reflexive as their winged party member took flight and impacted the roof. That sounded painful, but at least they did not knock themselves out. It was so strange to be under the sky— or some illusion of it– when she knew that they were inside. The request for a torch was at least easily fulfilled, as she had a few in her pack and produced one with no trouble.
"Here you go", she responded in kind, handing the unlit torch to them.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
With the others engaged with the hostiles, she could not shoot without running the risk of hitting one of them on accident, so she closed with the nearest one, wielding her light hammer, doing what she could to assist in the fight.

Mira's intrigue quickly turned to alarm, and her sidearm was in her hand almost before she could think. It was difficult to be hostile with things that you could not really pick out, and this was no exception. There was a note of potential concern that was edging closer to panic. "He is dead!?"
"We did not come here to fight, dammit!", she shouted out at those accosting them.

The sight of the path opening up into the chamber is a sight to see, even in the dark. Just the sound of the area opening up was such a relief from the echoes of the tunnel that they were in. Even the smell had changed slightly, but what caught Mira's attention the most was the construction of the huts, in that the strips of metal did not make too much sense. If one could use metal to construct a dwelling, why not construct the entirety out of metal?
Either way, she was intrigued.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
The chalk drawings are interesting to Mira. Less so the crates and boxes, though they do get examined for markings of coming from Torch. "...They mentioned that this was the... fourth expedition, right?" Given the amount of things here, it was a question of whether or not anything else in these caves had been this way between expeditions.

Lingering behind the rest of the group, Mira was looking around at the cave, and wondering what else was further on in the caves. While the others were looking up ahead, she was exploring around the group while staying in sight. There had been a few things that she wanted to detour to get, just in case, since they were going into unknown territory. A couple of flasks of oil would not hurt at all.
The sound of someone emerging from the water got her attention, but hearing it was someone that was sent with them, she relaxed.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira was intrigued by the robot. While the others were talking with Val, she was listening with one ear, inspecting the robot. If it repaired itself when she was not paying attention, that was something to be careful of.

While the others were engaging with the robot, Mira looked at Val? Given the enthusiasm of the others, there was no way that she could shoot it, but just the same, she did not want to leave it to injure the non-combatant. Provided that there was a space that she could reach that were not either occupied by Kurgu and Falvastar, she added her weapon to the subdual of the robot.

Mira was curious about the automaton, and certainly agreed with... Falvastar, the Kellid— Kurgu– had called him. She was not certain about how much information that they could get from it, with it being in the workshop, but it was definitely worth a look. "It would be worth a look", she concurred, with a nod to the dwarf. "There is still someone's life on the line, so we should not delay if we can help it."
'Hmm... Enormous vermin, camoflauged humanoids, and gremlins. Fire can work for the vermin, have to remember to get some oil. Perhaps we can talk to the humanoids, maybe. Gremlins, though...' She turned towards the council member, curious. "Has communication been established with these humanoids you mention?" The look on her face was curious, thinking it odd that they were mentioned, but not spoken to.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Mira looked at the Kellid for a long moment, the pause stretching as she eyed Kurgu just as he had done to her. A few seconds of contemplation later, her response was measured. "My name is Mira. Well met." Any following comment was lost when the dwarf walked in, and then was immediately engaged by the half-elf. The questions were valid though, and the council received her attention as she looked to see what their answers were going to be.

Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
The dusky-skinned individual that was part of the group had said nothing so far, but had been in town for about a week ("Traveling Judge" the rumor said) and she had been seen arbiting some issues that some had not wanted to bring before the council. They had also been seen at the local temple of Brigh, but that was a practically obvious thing, as a beautiful, full-sized mask of The Whisperer in Bronze was worn when they were arbitrating.
Her dark hair was bound back, thick braids comprising the tail that was tied with a bit of thong, its length enough to reach just past her shoulders. While there was an intensity about her, even in silence, it did not seem to be focused at anyone in particular, that just seemed to be her personality. Neither was she attractive in most of the ways that people noticed— jaw slightly stronger than most, eyes spaced just a touch wide– there was a certainty and confidence about her.
Her voice was not light, having been conditioned by her work to be assertive and it carried the same strength the rest of her exuded. "I will be able to aid you." Her long coat was leather, and reasonably well-worn and cared for. It was open in the front, which let everyone see the rumored mask at one hip, and a pistol at the other.

Background skills were mentioned, but unconfirmed.
This character was submitted for another game that has since been archived. The general concept was "Lawbringer", but specifically looking for clearance on the "Grey Paladin" part of the idea.
Pending that okay, I'll alter the character to suit.

A stickler for making sure that a job was done correctly, Mira was all for the lot of them going to make sure that the Acolyte did not escape without them there to attempt to prevent that from happening. "I'll head t'where we dropped Kharzess. They'll 'ave to come get her if they want her. Lawman, y'mind giving a fellow adherent of the law a hand? There's a cell we need t'visit."
That last part was said to Herman, since the more members of the law that they had on their side, the stronger their position was. It would also give her a fair look at what he was capable of, hoping that they would not need to shoot to keep their prisoner in jail where she belonged. Confidently, she strode out of the bar, intent on seeing that cell remain closed with its occupant. Evening was on them, and if it got too dark, they were going to be at a bit of a disadvantage.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Her lip curled up at the thought of them wandering around. "If they're here f'r th'acolyte, we know where they have to be if they plan t'free her. She considered something and nodded after a moment. "Johnny is going t'need a hand if things go sideways." Around them, the tavern continued its business, the ale flowing and the low din of conversations going on around them. A couple times, she had caught mention of Ozymandais', in the sense that someone their size was not often seen, and much less entertained. "They're also wantin' to talk to us about work", she gestured over to the caravan masters.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Pausing in her stride to the table, Mira listened to what Verra had to say and her expression darkened as she tried not to frown too hard in the face of their potential employers. She was not in the habit of risking her life to take down some villain only to have that work undone by some cultists. There was a moment of thought before she gave a disgusted sigh, and raised her hat to shield her face from the caravan masters. "How many of 'em did you see?" She was looking forward to a bath and a soft bed, but if they were planning to spring the Acolyte, they had issues.
A muscle twitched in her jaw as she dropped the hand that was shielding her face and turned to the other two, stopping her movement. The jury was still out on the lawman, but this was a good time to see what he had. "Alexandr, Ozymandias, looks like we've got some problems..." A look was given to Herman, challenging him. "One lawman t'another, there might be some issues."

Before Herman can respond to Alexandr's offer one the guards around the Outlanders' table approaches yours, "The Mayor has asked that you come by the table of the Freedom delegation? Will you join them?"
It looked like her bath was going to have to wait. Mira pushed herself up off of where she was lounging against the bar, and composed herself, fixing the guard with a calm look, and then a glance at the others with a raised eyebrow. "We will join you shortly", she responded. It probably helped that she was still pretty dusty, and clearly just arrived. It would definitely lend credence to some of the rumors going around about them. Her hat was taken off the bar next to her drink, and she gestured for the guard to lead the way.

Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
Half of the drink that had been handed to Mira was downed in the span of a few seconds, the liquid just what she had been wanting since the edges of this town came into view. Heaving a long sigh, she finally began to feel herself relax, and she tuned into the discussion that was happening around her. The talk of money and law did interest her, now that she was not distracted by attaining the comforts of civilization. The scroll that was handed to the lawman interested her, and she leaned over as best she could, scanning its contents.
A small grunt bespoke her interest, the intonation conveying that she was considering the offer. She turned her head to Alexandr and Ozymandias, begrudgingly acknowledging to herself that it was too good to miss. "That looks like our next job, provided the lot of us're going to stick together. Can't speak for everyone, though, but money like that's not to be dismissed too easily." She took another swallow from her mug, and turned her attention to the meeting going on, leaning back against the bar to make no attempt to hide her regard. If she could get a sense of these folk before they started negotiations, then they were going to be better off.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
The strides they were taken towards the masked man were of a singular intent, and with the goal this close, she works not be denied. Communication was already made in the way she looked to get his attention, a finger held up on indication of her intent to secure a bath for herself. In her other hand, and rolling around her fingers was certainly coin enough, if the dull gleam of it was gold, and not something else. "One. Full service."
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
A nod of greeting was given to the lawman, Mira's intent not so much that she would ignore courtesies. She did think the turn of phrase was interesting, but she did speak. "Mira. A pleasure, lawwman." Turning, she gave the crowd a once-over, but shifted her attention back to Herman, then her companions before she headed inside to get cleaned up.
Female (Sleuth) 4/ (Martial Artist) 2
While the delay was something that she was interested in, there was still food and drink as well as a bath in the direction that she had been headed. Stopping by here was something that could be done tomorrow. A tip of her head moved the brim of her hat enough for her to gauge the remaining light, before she righted it. <"Id'r o nsioryli, Dav">, she said casually in Gnomish, giving her a nod of courtesy before addressing the others. "You lot can shop. I'm not going t'be deterred from getting the dust of th'road out of my mouth and off of my skin. I'm goin' ahead." At that, she turned and resumed her progress towards the saloon and her goals of being able to relax.
