Louie was born as a taiwo, the first born of twins, the adventurous one, in a trader's village outside the city of Tamale in 1840. His brother and he grew up and became fishermen on the the River Volta.

Captured by soldiers from the Kindgom of Dahomey, the brothers were sold to a criminal group of southern slavers who transported them to Alabama in 1860.

They were separated in their time in bondage, and upon emancipation Louie determined to seek out his brother.

His travels tracking the men who kidnapped him to this continent, the villainous investors who held he and his brother as slaves, and the trail of his brother's life have led him south to New Orleans, north along the Mississippi to Chicago, and across the Great Lakes to Buffalo.

While working as ship's cook he met Dr. P on a pleasant cruise where they discussed Louie's home and Dr. P offered to lend him some books on Yoruba language and culture that he collected while investigating the spiritual connection of twins.
