Laszlo's Background:
"Born" and raised as Homonculus #5, Laszlo Csoka spent most of his life in service to his creator, acting as both a lab assistant and occasional experimental subject. While his service was both unethical and broadly illegal, even under the relatively permissive laws of Ustalav, their isolated location and his master's personal power kept the region safe enough that it rarely saw visiting outsiders. He was finally freed when he managed to catch the attention of a passing Pathfinder party, led by Flink. After uncovering a variety of crimes hidden by his isolation and anonymity, the Pathfinders executed Laszlo's creator and burnt down his mansion (all of their reports agree this was done intentionally).
Laszlo was brought to the local Society Lodge at Lepistadt where he was debriefed and finally took on a proper name. Given the choice, Laszlo named himself after Professor Laszlo Csoka, a doctor and the author of Laszlo's favorite medical treatise. Unbeknownst to Laszlo, Professor Csoka's work (mostly focusing around the four humours) has largely been debunked and his works are only present in most medical libraries as a form of historical color rather than legitmate reference material.
Idolizing his saviors almost as much as Professor Csoka, the now emancipated Laszlo asked to join the Pathfinder Society. The local Venture Captain, taking pity on the excitable young man, provided him with some basic supplies and got him a spot in a caravan heading in the direction of Nerosyan rather than subject him to the almost certainly fatal dangers of Ustalav.
Blithely ignorant of other peoples reactions to his warped form, Laszlo is driven to explore by his intense curiosity and a somewhat naive desire to do good inspired by his rescue at the hands of the Pathfinder Society.
