Feedback:
1. Pbp is slow, and we've been playing this game for a long time. It's hard to not have change in your character when RL time is passing by for so long. XP gain to me might work for the table, but on Pbp it is hard to go a long time after many fights without a level or at least some change in the character because by then, months have passed.

2. I also struggled with the item system and weights. You either take nothing from the dungeon with you and have no money, or you take many things and you are overweighed because you don't know when you'll have a person to sell to. Perhaps giving a bag of holding to start would be ideal, or giving a starting gold amount and highly suggesting the party have someone pick one up. Which brings me to my next suggestion.

3. Having a frequent and not illusive place to sell your items, to a trustworthy enterprising person might be handy too; such as someone who has made a living by deciding to stop trying to beat the labyrinth (or knowing they can't with their ability), and instead work to help others succeed where they can't. The original guy asks adventurers to press hard until they can't anymore and then suggests they do what he did--open a shop.

That way, you will have occasional people who are shop owners who are sympathetic to your plight, but just can't go on anymore. You as the player would trust to buy from them, not like you suspiciously don't with "Eyes". They would only ask that when the final foe is defeated, that you come down to their lower levels and let them know they are free.

Yes, I believe so. Just grab the back of the painting and pull and it should be a bag of holding under an illusion spell.

Lash looks down to the floor below as they mess with the scroll. Her eyes are on overwatch, making sure nothing comes at them from above the stairs or below.

Is there anything at the top of the stairs? I moved there a while ago.

None of the above. As stated, she's going up the stairs. I had assumed there was a doorway at the top. If any, that's what she's checking.

"It seems dangerous messing with that," she warns Kahli, considering the place it is found. "Why would this guy know someone you know?"

Lash isn't in the habit of putting her hand through extradimensional spaces in a devil's home. If she cannot grasp the painting by its edges on the frame, she doesn't bring her precious hands anywhere close to it. If it doesn't swallow her up or something terrible when she approaches it, she moves past to the doorway.

With it unlocked, she opens it stealthily and peers through. If it is clear, she will continue inside.

After hearing Hamley and Hrolf, she looks over the door and heads there with a nod to the halfling.

Being an expert at opening many doors now, not to mention various mechanisms, she observes and points it out to the others there with her. She tries to understand what it would do if pressed or rotated before doing so. If that is an unknown, she just manipulates the design to be properly aligned.

"I'm okay being on point to watch out for traps. Just as long as you rush in to help if something charges me!" a stern chuckle comes from her. It has been the only laugh she's emited in a while of any regard.

She moves up to the stairs edge, seeing perfectly well in the darkness. When Kahli illuminates the area for Hrolf and his tiger, she nods and continues the rest of the way up.

"No," she answers the halfling concering his light. "Both Kahli and I can see in the darkness." She will nod however at his suggestion. At his mention of the painting being magical, she considers why exactly a painting would be magical in the first place and just decides to shoot it off its hinge from a distance (60ft or less depending on the area) so it falls to the floor or is damaged significantly by her arrow.

Explaining, Lash gestures to the now empty room, "Oh good! I'm not the only one who saw it. He made us see an illusion of a grand ballroom and that we were welcomed guests. I'm sorry, but it was stupid of him to try. We came in here combat-ready. I was probably going to shoot the guy anyway even before you told me he was undead!"

She then looks to the stairs going up.

"If our past experiences tell us anything, he's likely to be upstairs. Let's go."

With a careful eye out, she observes, looking for traps along the way.

Lash grabs hold of the doorknob and thrusts it open, leaping into the side of the door that is closed still and giving her companions the ability to make entry as well. She is on the defensive, looking for what she can see as she pulls up her bow.

She pulls back from the edge and states, "It seems they've given up the chase. We better set our minds on that house. You look fairly hurt, Hamley. Can we heal him?" she asks Kahli. Naturally, she could use some healing herself.

I already rolled above and got a 30 for snake style for the drake's attack. So the incoming attack would miss, unless you are interpreting that differently?? The second one would hit, however. After pointing that out, if that's how you see it, how much damage do I actually take?

"Alright...we made it out of there..." she comments, wiping her eyes from the sensation of keeping them open. Part of her wonders whether the drakes will be able to attain the height of this location or not. She looks over the edge to see if they are giving chase. "Hamley, are you okay?"

It is clear that the monk is bleeding to some degree.

I am not taking an action except moving toward the green light with everyone else. Last round, I've moved in between the drakes and Hamley so that they can't attack him, that way they have to go through me. If there is a readied action, it is to move to intercept their attention (such as if they move around to the side, then I will side step to remain their focus).

I think we are all just moving to the green beam. No need to fight. I guess if we are getting technical, if the drakes do hit at Lash, she would get a reroll now for snake style.

Lash focuses on protecting Hamley and getting to the green beam rather than directly fighting.

Lash will fall back to aid Hamley and to get in the way of any incoming globs of acid, to deflect them if possible while the whole of the group continues to head toward their goal. She will take a shot regardless.

Lash will follow instruction and hold deathly tight to her bow. The string on it flickers in the fast-flowing wind. Will she even be able to make a shot like this? It would be like doing a flip, pulling an arrow and letting loose before you hit the ground--possible, but difficult. In her mind, she begins to calculate the flow of wind and how these interesting new mechanics should affect her arrows.

Lash is already moving at her fastest speed (as far as she knows). The thought of their companion falling fills her with dread. Hrolf, or heaven forbid, Kahli could be next. She feels like she is on the edge of madness as she pushes forward. Her eyes are not used to the wind rushing in them like this, and so she isn't sure the tears in her eyes are from her emotions or from the wind itself. All she can do is push forward and be mindful of the drakes closing in.

Lash will real and twist, unsure about how to feel about these sensations. The lighter they seem and the higher they fly, she feels like the wildly clawing tiger. Strangely enough, Lash is more afraid of falling than the tiger freaking out. When they stop moving, there will be a time of adjustment where she will explore her environment.

Once she's feeling stable, she will look to Hrolf.

"Maybe we should try moving toward that green light. Think your tiger will be able to handle it?"

Eventually, if so, she focuses on the green beam, and in time, heads that way as capable as she can.

I'll just say what I'm feeling. I don't know what the others are thinking. The problem I think I am having is that the clues to unlock/figure out these problems our characters face are so obscure that there is (maybe) no figuring it out almost until you do what Lash did and blatantly and randomly 'push the button', which hopefully will give us some clues, and at that point, why have the clue/message at all? I think the problem stems from the fact that you as the GM can visibly see the problem and know the answer. The clues make perfect sense to you and are a beacon to figure out the riddle, so to you it's easy/simple, but we don't and from the onset, Lash tried to search for more information (which is a communication that your puzzle is too hard). For us the players, at least for me, figuring it out is more like trying to figure out some Sherlock-level puzzle but I'm just a normal person who is nearly sight-blind and can't even really fully see like you can (as I am reliant on your descriptions of everything). I mean, even at this point, we may have figured out how to activate the pillars, but we clearly have no idea whether they are right or wrong. We've come up with some brilliant guesses, but that's no more right or wrong than what Lash did because we don't have any semblance of an answer.

My advice would be to maybe tone down the puzzles a bit, or try to leave more clues, or to allow us to roll intelligence rolls for insight if we are all stuck and floundering like we are instead of spending more than a month (real-time) in the same location with absolutely no advancement. I check this every day and it's frustrating to not move forward. I like the mystery and plot twists and combat. I also like puzzles, when I can figure them out. All of these make a good dungeon crawl, but this saps the fun out of the game for me when it just seems impossible to figure out.

As Kahli's stone begins to glow, her third stone is touched. She prepares for what may come from the 3 being "lit".

You shouldn’t feel bad. I’m in the same situation. These puzzles are hard, obscure, and usually involve some insight I don’t have as a player to figure them out. That is why Lash just pushed on a random stone. From my viewpoint, we’ve done everything but risk it all. The note is of no help in my view (and others it seems)

So this is a cursed ring of sustenance? So it only temporarily gave him sustenance?

Lash shakes her head at the reasonings of Shantanna. The woman can explain whatever she wants and Lash will have no idea if she's right. To Lash, there is no logical way to figure this out. Even a brilliant mage such as Egarthis spent probably days trying to reason it out. The only thing that makes sense to her is to activate the pillar that might be related to the beacon they are trying to light.

She looks in her mind's eye to where they've been. Then she looks to the stones. Do they match up to what would be seen on a map? If so, is there a stone pair standing specifically where the beacon for this area would be?

Lash considers that the person that this mage is talking about is the woman who died with the key that they've been using to figure out the order to activate these in. She doesn't say so though, or that they've been the ones activating them. As he starts to die, she raises an eyebrow. When his body becomes withered, she steps away.

"Do you think he touched one of the stones and this is what it did to him?" she looks at the stones for signs of finger marks on one to see if he touched it when they showed up.

To Hrolf, she states, "I don't intent to stay here long enough to camp. But if you can find a spot, go for it. Who knows how fast they rotate around the island. However, like I said, I kind of want to take them down."

Regarding the gear found on the man, she states, "I can fend for myself in finding food, so perhaps someone else should take this ring. I'll take the potion of healing and stabilization, in case Kahli can't get to me, the other healing potion should probably go to someone else. The brooch of shielding, and the wand of shield, I'm not sure..."

There isn't much there for them to disperse among themselves, so she wouldn't be surprised if Hamley and Tenney take some of the items too.

When it comes time to figure out what to do, once again, she's clueless. She has no idea how to solve such puzzles. A studied man like this was pacing for days trying to figure it out.

"So basically we choose between a Transmutation spell of Fly or Necromantic one?"

Without more information to go on, to her, it's a 50/50 guess.

"How do we even choose? And if we do, do we cast something or touch something? It says to light them. How do we 'light a pillar?'" she grumbles, not being particularly well-versed in magical arts.

How many stones are there to choose from? Any physical differences?

At the warning of the potential return of the drakes from Shantanna, she is still alert to their approach.

If this is going to...let us fly...or whatever, then we may be engaged by them as well. Perhaps we should wait until they come around the island again and then ambush them?"

As the dogs fade from existence, she is still in an action pose. She looks over to Tenney who is likewise ready to strike the beast again. Her eyes then carry over to the mage, whose skull is now crushed and face down in the dirt. Part of Tenney's shirt is still smoldering, so she will move over and pat it out.

"Well...That's that. Shame. That guy was honestly a fool to stand against so many of us...he must have reaaaaally wanted whatever this is, or thought he was tough enough to take us. Hrolf's tiger clawed his face, did you see?" she asks Tenney with a shiver at the thought of getting tiger clawed in the face.

As it is, with this man backing away from Hrolf, she needs to move closer. Since he is fast enough to deflect one arrow, she has to send a flurry at him. Moving up, she is not able to do this, so she shoots at "blue" instead.
