My apologies for leaving so many questions unanswered for so long... As our party has a respite from adventuring for the time being, I will try and address some of these. I will admit that I spend little time pondering hypothetical situations though. When serving the Dawnflower, many decisions are made in the situation according to our training and deeply seeded faith in Her, and for every situation, there are many choices. Which option you choose determines the next step, and so on. Thus, discussions on situations not yet occurring can be an interesting conversation, but rarely is the answer meaningful...if an answer is even found.

<smirks> A +5 bonus? That's amusing. I think you misunderstand Meri if you honestly think she would even be willing to be labeled as "adorable". As for my resistance, let's just say that I'm not entirely comfortable with the number of knives Merisiel may or may not have hidden on her person. Seoni keeps trying to prove that point with clothing. Honestly, though, what part of you is forgetting who the holy servant of Sarenrae is? Also, sun protection.

Valeros, of course. Although Amiri could care less (or would cleave an ogler in two). And Lini is fairly free spirited, but she often just disappears into the forest to bathe.

Ah, Twigs. My apologies for not having the time to address your questions. Pursuing evil is not for the weak-willed. You must be strong in your faith of the Everlight, and in your resolve. You must always look to the potential that evildoers can repent, and that given a choice between good and death, good will be their choice. Lopping off hands or burning their flesh is pointless. It only encourages spite and hatred. It is also NOT good. Also, do not "play" at being ANYTHING in the service of Sarenrae. Be serious. Be faithful. Be devoted. Show compassion. Show mercy. But be prepared to exact justice. Your questions....(sigh)

In my opinion, Seelah's looks better from the standpoint of keeping attacks at bay...but I am not strong enough to bear the weight of her armor for long. If I were agile enough, and had need for convenient storage for a dozen (or two) knives, certainly Merisiel's armor would look better to me. I generally prefer my own armor....it grants me protection, and the freedom of movement I need to move around the battlefield, healing and aiding others.

My thought upon this strange, and complicated, custom is: Everyone needs a hobby. If this one does no harm, and brings enjoyment to those that engage in it....then well done. I am not sure why people do not wear protective head gear. Why just the other day, my decorative crest was snapped off by a hobgoblin attack. The armorer I met in the tavern has assured me this can be easily fixed.

First about Valeros. I am familiar with his early history so I ask you this: While his physical bravery is not to be question, do you think Valeros is a moral coward? No. Valeros may be a prideful idiot, and a man-child sometimes, but he is no coward. I've seen him make difficult decisions that needed to be made. Second. This is not meant to provoke you or demean your goddess, I am simply asking for the perspective of one of her Faithful. So with that in mind: What are your thoughts that despite Sarenrae being a goddess of redemption Shelyn seems to have better success at redeeming people? Shelyn is....better? How so? I believe Shelyn calls to those who want to be redeemed, but cannot find their way back easily. The Dawnflower is quite the opposite...looking to defeat evil, but giving those who commit evil a final chance to redeem themselves. But, in all things, it is not a competition among gods. Third. A man by the name of Anaetis recently succeeded in passing the test of the Star Stone and has thus ascended to godhood. He is the God of Joy, Mercy, and Compassion. Do you think there will be any issues or conflicts between him and either Sarenrae, Calistria, or Cayden Cailean? Hmm. I have not heard of this. If it is indeed true, that is a matter for the gods. However, I doubt Sarenrae or Calistria will let it become a problem. And fourth and please forgive me on this one for it is a hypothetical question. The whole of existence is vast and there are worlds with there own gods and gods from other places may not go. Say you were to somehow find yourself there and thus cut of from Sarenrae's Light. I assume you would persist in your faith of the Dawn flower but would you be willing to let another benevolent god grant you their light in her stead until such a time as you found your way back within Her sight? Sarenrae may grant her strength and understanding in many forms. While you might view such a circumstance as being "cut from Her Light", I would know Her Light anywhere...even if it was given by a "different" face.
Why do these questions about Merisiel's and my relationship keep coming up?
(sigh) It is true that this flirting thing is part of our everyday banter. It can be a bit much, especially when it first started, but I have become used to it after all these years. It is expected. Would I miss it? If Meri stopped, I would instantly assume possession, or a shapeshifter. So, it does have some utility.
I hear someone asking for a cleric, so what-- Oh, Meri....you've stabbed someone again, haven't you? Yes, yes, I can see he's a drow. A wordy one? Ah. So, Chemlak is it? Yes, well, in the future, try and be short and direct with Merisiel, here. You confused her with all that prose, and when she gets confused, someone gets stabbed. It happens. (sigh) Are we all done here? I have things to do. OK, then. Farewell.

Truly? Well, I...ah...that is indeed a strange redeeming. My advice is to keep a close watch on this goblin. And, I would NOT allow him to spread the word of Sarenrae, as he does not understand much of the teachings, it seems. I cannot imagine what twisting of meanings this one would lay to the words of the Dawnflower in the attempt to "preach" to other goblins. It must be strongly explained to this creature that it takes YEARS to be entrusted to the position of priest, and have the duty that priests have. He is a follower, and he must practice his faith in Sarenrae through honesty and kindness.

Ah, well. Zombies and wights, and some ghouls as well, have been purged from the catacombs. I do enjoy working with Seelah on tasks like this. Archivist wrote: As a traveling cleric, do you ever go out and preach to the masses, run or assist with services to Sarenrae in the local church/shrine/cathedral/etc, or anything of the like? I have preached on invitation before. There is not much downtime to do impromptu services, especially in regions that are not familiar with Sarenrae. I will and do speak to others on my faith, and I especially enjoy settling disagreements in a calm and peaceful manner. Many priests and priestesses of the Dawnflower are assigned to temples. We the travelling followers are welcomed to share and attend the services of the local temple, but are rarely asked to assist. To do so would be showing that the local priest could not run their own service. I have only done this once. The local priest was preaching falsely, and his message was not one of truth and light. It was poison. His congregation was cowed to his false teachings, and it was difficult for them to believe the truth. Luckily, the Healing Flame saw fit to relieve him of his priesthood....and his sight. He was not much for resistance after that. There was a good long month of my service to that temple before his replacement arrived.

The Dawnflower is not such a prudish goddess! The honest reason I decline Merisiel's advances is that I am not attracted that way to women. That is all. I do think Valeros is a fine specimen of man, but past his physical form, he is quite crude and wholly unappealing.
Archivist wrote: So if you had one thing to say about Sarenrae to people, what would it be? The Dawnflower loves and cares for all that are honest and good, or truly wish to be. As a courtesy, however, I do believe in giving the evil side one last chance to change their ways. They rarely accept the offer...
