Question about the motuion sensor:
this is a hybrid item, it's worn (where do you wear it?)
And so what kind of item is it.

Since a character can not use more than 2 hybrid/magic weapons, and can not use two of the same type. A lot of those items througout the books are not good explained as to where they are worn.

Also, if an item is held, does this still count to the limit of two?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

If you ask a spellcaster to cast a spell for you, how to you determine his caster level and is it possible to that he fails?

If i pay a spellcaster to cast Remove affliction (3th level spell):

  • - This will cost me 1000 credits (core book p 235)
  • - The caster level is level 3, since it's a level 3 spell (or are you free to give him any caster level you want? Does the price goes up because of this?
  • - In order to succeed, he must succeed on his caster check to overcome DC (= 4 + affliction DC). Do you let him make this check? Or does he auto succeed, since the players paid for it (so we can ignore the caster level) or does hiring a caster comes with a risk of failure?

Sovereign Court

For example:

Maneuver (Helm Phase):
- You move your starship up to its speed.
- You can also attempt a Piloting check to reduce your starship’s distance between turns by 1 (to a minimum of 0).

What does this mean: reduce your SH distance between turns by 1 ?

So I have another questions;
What if they used a consumable they received, like a grenade.
Can they still purchase it afterwards when it's initially on the chronicle sheet?

Yeah, the loot system is a little counter intuitive and gamey if you're not used to it.

Wow, there’s a lot of stuff on this chronicle, I’m rich!

Whoa there.

The credits you get from the scenario is on the upper right hand side. This is usually your reward. This amount assumes that your party took everything back to Absolom station, sold it and divied up the loot.

Just about everything else on the chronicle sheet merely provides slightly earlier access to the item, not the item itself.

For the duration of the scenario though, one player can put that on

Thanks! That was really helpful. It needs a better description in the guide imo.

In the commencement, the players get (after the race) 400 credits and a set of graphite carbon skin armor.

Do all the players each get 400 creds + the armor, or do they have to devide it among each other?
And is this how it works for every encounter?

How it's written in the adventure:

Treasure: If Laboni wins the race, she apologizes to Ratrod
for her previous statements. The ysoki’s pride still hurts, but the
gesture compels the Salvage Union to offer Laboni some extra
payment in the form of collected gear, on top of the race’s prize
money. In turn, Laboni presents the PCs with a set of graphite
carbon skin armor and 400 credits from the race’s prize pool.

Rewards: If the PCs fail to secure a tie or victory for Laboni in
the race, reduce each PC’s credits earned by 185 credits. If the PCs
managed to secure second place, instead reduce each PC’s credits
earned by 90 credits.

What would be the DC for forcing a lower CL magic item into a higher CL magic item?

We are houseruling so far a
DC = lower CL*1.5 + higer CL + 5

Any better thoughts?

to clearify, i want his great grandfather to be the big bad guy, since my player wants to clear his family name and prove that he was not so bad... things will blow up in his face :)

He was a wizard, could be necromancer. So how can this mortal become a demon or such thing, if at all possible; and have the power to do this kind of cursing

Sovereign Court

A wizard in my group is looking for the truth about his great-grandfather. They said he wanted to become a lich, but he did not succeed, that's what they told everyone at least. (background of the character

The story of my campaign:
- an evil power is manipulating the deep creatures of earth, and making them evil. He is raising an army, this army will dig out archdemon dragons, the dragons will lead the army on earth to destroy everything.
This is all because of this main villain who cursed the creatures, the archdemon, and everything that get's tainted by it.

This is also something that repeats itself every like 5000 to 10000 years, everytime some evil character learns the power of the curse and wants to conquer the world.

What kind of evil character would be able to do something like that?
Is it possible for a lich to do? Could his great-grandfather have become something else, like say a demon?
(I'd like it not to be a lich, because that would be to obvious).
Ideas?

Sovereign Court

If my players find all kind of books, like books about necromancy (no spellbook), what bonus could they get from it?

As with other books? What are the general guidlines?

Sovereign Court

The fiendish template give me this:
gains spell resistance equal to new CR +5.

My CR is 3

Is this spell resistance up and above my resistance i allready have, or if it is allready 14, does it stay 14. Or even worse, does it become 3 + 5 = 8.

Sovereign Court

That taint is perfect, wow!

Can you add multiple templates together without a problem?

Sovereign Court

Ok thank you; i was thinking in the same direction.

But how can i apply some features to these creatures without hurting CR?

- They have a taint that they can spread to other creatures, plant, ... when they come in contact. (The PC's are the chosen ones, because they have no reaction, or only a mild one, than the other sentient beings).
Do i give all those creatures something like: ghoul disease, but with lower DC and less sever effects?

- Is it ok to give them all complete sight in darkness, but light sensitivity. While the new borns from broodmothers have only darksight 60 ft., but dont have a weakness for light.

- What other traits, specials, ... can i give these creatures so that it looks like that they all are from the same race, without outright killing the party or making them to weak.

Sovereign Court

ello

So soon i'll be starting my new sandbox campaign.
But I want to make an army of deep underground creatures.
They get tainted, corrupted, by some evil architect demon.

Because of this taint they start to delve for the 5 archdemons (ancient dragons) who have been captured deep in the earth. When they taint the archdemons, they will lead the creatures into the world, where they will corrupt everything. Nature will rot, people and animals will die, as soon as they get in contact with this taint. Well, at least the lucky ones.

Some will transform into ghouls: these ghouls will start to make armor and weapons for the creatures from the deep, so they'll become stronger and stronger.

Some will transform in broodmothers: they'll spawn 1000's of the creatures from the deep, but even stronger as the once that came from the deep.

The creatures from the deep are all in contact with each other through the taint/corruption they have. And the strongest connection they have is with the archdemons.

So the task for the PC's will be to destroy the archdemons, the connection will become weaker, they can destroy the armies, and go down into the earth in search for the architect.

Offcourse, it's a sandbox so everything can chance along the way, but this is my main reasoning. (It is offcoursed inspired by Dragon Age).

So this is the setting, but now my question is: how do i make these creatures, what's the easiest way to stat them, and have weaker/stronger versions, with warriors, mages, commanders, ... in there ranks.

I'm new to this in Pathfinder, so if you guys can help me get me on my way? :)
