So, I have a bit of a conundrum on my hands.
Tactician (Archetype)
Battle Herald (PRC)
*I have also posted this over on the Bay Area Pathfinder Society Yahoo Group* Lately, there has been little to no attendance by GMs at GK, in Santa Clara (as well as players). I am aware of a number of factors that likely do contribute to this occurrence. Things such as noise-level issues, unpredictable/late running times for scenarios, and various factors in personal lives are my prime suspects in this case of missing PFS members. I might also (heartbreakingly) consider that maybe people might not be showing up due to interpersonal dislike of one or more of the regulars at this venue. I hope this is not the case but, anything seems possible at this rate. I have also observed that we really don’t have many new GMs volunteering to run games; as well as fewer new players. If anyone has some ideas or suggestions that I might pass on to our current store coordinator, feel free to do so.
I've got a shih-tzu that thinks it's a drider...mainly because it formerly was one! So, My hedge witch hit a drider with a Baleful Polymorph and it made its Will save. We now have a shih-tzu that has drider hit dice and hit points. Being the kindly soul that she is, said witch wants to keep the shi-tzu/drider (a.k.a. Drih-tzu) and care for it until the end of its new natural lifespan. My questions are as follows: 1. Can I just write it down as the standard gp cost for a lap dog? 2. Since it mantains its drider hd and hp, does it count as a "combat pet" as described in the guide to organized play? (Thus, only allowing either the 'Drih-tzu' or her trusty assistant Riddywhiple to go into scenarios with her). 3. Am I even ALLOWED to keep the poor beastie at all?
I was just going over my player sessions of my Core character, when I noticed that a couple of the sessions had a side note saying Quote: "Character is incorrect organized play type PFSRPG for table of type PFSPFC" . 1. What does that mean? 2. I know for certain that all this character's content is only from the allowed content for Core (i.e. Core Rulebook Guide to Organized Play and Web Enhancement Traits page)and am uncertain if the way I played it seems like it wasn't. 3. What should I do/who should I contact to have that report fixed if I can?
I've found summoners both vexing and promising for its creative potential.
And then, Unchained happened. If I had the wherewithal to build/play an APG Summoner well before that I might have but, I didn't.
My question is: Are ANY of the evolutions beyond the APG grandfather-clause is legal for an unchained summoner to use?
I've been looking around, and most of the threads I've looked at seem to devolve into a Unchained v. APG love/hate rant with no answer given. :(
This is kind of confusing; Not just in PFS Play, but in general play as well. Core Rulebook has the following description- Antitoxin: If you drink a vial of antitoxin, you get a +5 alchemical bonus on Fortitude saving throws against poison for 1 hour. While the description in Ultimate Equipment says this: This substance counteracts a specific toxin. If you drink a vial of antitoxin, you gain a +5 alchemical bonus on Fortitude saving throws against poison for 1 hour. So which one is correct? I can't find this in the FAQ so... I'm hoping that if enough people reply/ask about, the developers might add it to the FAQ in the near future. :)
I want to know if I can do it. I plan on the Summoner being human, so it gets the 1st level bonus feat to start with. I've got most of the character set up, I just want to see about building the eidolon now. I've scoped out a few guides and got some interesting info for inspiration. I am modeling it after a Cardigan Welsh corgi. I want this little guy to be a literal ankle-biter, who spends 75% of the time tripping, dodging, pain in the @$s on the battlefield in combat. Out of combat; it should be a cute conversation-starter who amuses people with his three cute corgi heads and its zany doggie antics (Which would be a clever cover for it making perception check and alerting the party to any impending danger it can detect). He will be my summoner’s “little Angel” but to anyone who threatens that summoner or the party, he will be holy-hell! So, here is some of what I think it will take to make one: Base Form: Quadruped Size: Small Evolutions
Suggested Feats For The Eidolon
Suggested Summoner Feats
Does anyone else have an idea/suggestion on:
***Remember, this is a small dog based eidolon and I want it to stay small.
I was just saying something I thought was silly in another thread but apparently, It sounded cool to someone. I was asked nicely if I would start a thread for it, so I did. Wayfinder Faction. Realizing that the spirit of "Explore, Report,Cooperate" often proved to coincide with the goals of doing good for the greater good, Silver Crusade and the Decmvirate choose to join forces for the good of the Pathfinder Society as a whole. Together they will Explore,Report and Cooperate for the Good of ALL! So, what do you all think?
At the risk of having me put in my place about a silly question/repeat of previous misunderstandings of some similar Q&A I've had before, here it is: If the Additional Resource page says that all of a certain animal is available for PFS play but the resource its self doesn't give an animal companion stat; Does that mean that the creature in question can only achieve 'Pet' status for a character or is there some way I am missing to incorporate said beastie into a druid's companion choices that I don't know about yet? (Or as choices for Summon Nature's ally/Monster spells?) The animals in question are from 'Osirion, Legacy of the Pharaohs'.
So, I did something silly and got my very first, full-on character death last Monday. Sister Kitty Velvetino- Cleric of Calistria, Wielder of Whips, Sacred Dancer of of Poles and Veils, Queen of the Quick Disrobe is dead at the tender age of 8 experience points. She was a vibrant soul with a lust for life(and other things as well...). It...was...COOL!!!! Bisected by a crit with a greatsword! That was amazing! :D The reason for her discontinued existence was this: Having neither the gp or pp to save her from such a fate was a little disappointing (8th chronicle in and only 14 fame to her name), but it was bound to happen just from the way I played her that night.(Very poor tactics. I know better then to try and play when I'm tired/feeling off that day). *shrugs* She will be missed.
So, I've been looking back at some of my old 3.5 characters and concepts for inspiration of future Pathfinder characters. In doing this, I brought me back to a particular concept character. A half-oni(ogre)named Mimiharu, who could effectively wield a tetsubo in each hand. I wrote her up as a fighter/barbarian and utilized several feats and her racial features as the vehicle for this effect. Now, to the present. I've been looking at the Titan Mauler barbarian and the Two-Weapon Warrior Fighter archetypes. I also have a copy of Blood of Fiends, which introduced the Oni-Spawn teifling heritage. Tetsubo, being an exotic two-handed weapon.
Using these as a frame of reference, Can I achieve the effect again? *Note, I don't really care about the damage-output/practicallity so much as if I can do it without house-rules involved. i.e. PFS Legal*
So, I've got this little Osirion faction hedge witch that just hit 9th level in PFS and I'm not too sure about how prepared I have her for higher level challenges. I tend to build characters with more Character than mechanics and I tend to take full on optimization guides with a grain of salt. Now, most of what this character has currently has served well enough up to now but, I would still like a little input on what to do with/to her with the remaining resources available to work with. (i.e. My books, remaining gp left, prestige points.) Here is what I'm working with- Nakina Westriver Neutral Female Half-Elf Witch 9 (Hedge Witch Archetype) Str 10 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 20 Wis 16 Cha 12 Half-Elven traits*

Hi, it's me again. So, I'm working on a winter witch character for PFS and I have a copy of Animal Archive which introduces the rabbit familiar. Now, according to Inner Sea Magic, the winter witch's familiar options are as follows: "Winter witches must choose a familiar that is native to the frozen north, even when they themselves operate in other regions. Traditionally, this limits winter witch familiar choices to bat, cat, fox, hawk, owl, rat, raven, or weasel. A winter witch who gains the Improved Familiar feat can select any familiar she desires, save for familiars with the fire subtype." It appears to say that including the 'traditional' familiars allowed a Winter witch, one may in fact choose another type of familiar as long as it is a cold-climate creature.I was thinking something like a snowshoe hare or other sub-arctic breed of bunny. Since the Winter Witch archetype was written before the release of Animal Archive,by the RAW it seems like that might be allowed.

No, seriously. My husband has fairly bad vision and has to hold the dice up to his face or roll them basically beneath his nose in order to see the die-roll. And to some, the amount of time that it take for his eyes to settle on the result is proof of him cheating. He also just rolls a lot of really good numbers. Now, short of having to constantly ask the player nearest to him to read it for him or have someone else roll and read it for him; how many other ways can he deal with the dice that won't get him singled out as cheating when he's just visually impaired?
*Warning* This might be a rant I don't know yet. Please, I BEG OF ANYONE READING THIS: DON'T TURN THIS THREAD INTO A BATTLEGROUND OF WORDS!!!* -Thank you So, I have survived and mostly enjoyed my first year in PFS. I've had good sessions/GMs/experiences and I've had some of these be so bad for me that I honestly questioned both my continued involvement in PFS and even my own self worth. Who hasn't(I guess)at some point experiences smilar to mine? Anyway, I have a 6th level Witch fast approaching 7th level and my first character Zamiira is 7th level now; and looking back on how I got her there has lead my to reconsider taking a break from PFS for a little while. Maybe just to try and give myself a break from trying to figure out the survival capabilities of ALL my characters for PFS. I'm not new to gaming per se, but I am new to playing characters at levels higher that 4 or 5. Before I started playing in PFS (Or the Pathfinder RPG for that matter) I played a bit of 3.0 and 3.5 D&D home-brews.And most of those games, I only every had to learn the bare minimum of the rules. Specifically: how to create a character, what that character's class abilities and restrictions were & a scant skill-use and combat rules (just enough the break-up the role playing aspects). But most of the time, the mechanical aspects go hand waved in favor of more cinematic descriptions of combat and skill checks for ease of play and time. Even in those, I never got a chance to play a character straight through to any level higher than 6th. So naturally, I feel VERY uncomfortable/unsure of how to deal with and improve my game play to suit the expectations of regular PFS games. I feel terrible for the times when find out the hard way that my character is woefully under-prepared for what is to come up in a new scenario. But, I also feel bullied by other players and GMs for not having/knowing things I apparently should for being at higher levels.
So, back to my first train of thought. Should I take a break for a while without PFS and the rigors of organized play or try to stick it out with what I have until every character I have either hits 11th level/dies first?
So here is my problem. When I signed up to GM for an upcoming game(Specifically,Tide of Twilight), I had more resources available to me and had some time to kill while prepping for it. Now that several unforeseen financial issues have arisen; I find myself with the problem of dealing with a rather LARGE logistical issue that makes things like large-scale copies/prints,extra flip mats and the like not overly available options for me. I am uncertain if it would be ok for me to just run the scenario in question with a lot of breaks for scene changes/re-draws, or fudge the map down to the bulk of the action area? What would/ have you done in similar situations?
I have recently written-up and played a Human Lotus Geisha in a very social/stealth heavy scenario. For kind skills sets needed to get out of the Chelish Embassy without major incident, this archetype was splendid.
I'm just wondering what other people's experience with this Lotus Geisha Bard has been like (As a player of one or having played at a table with one in the party, ect.)? And as such, how survivable do you think this archetype can be in the long-term?
My specific example/problem comes in the form of my 1st level Lotus Geisha bard, Shiro. Being a well rounded bard of his archetype, I have the desire for him to have Perform (Dance, Act, Stringed Instruments, Oratory). All of those being central to the kabuki actor style Shiro performs. Now, correct me if I am wrong about this:
All the official character sheets I've come across so far (including the sheet from the PFS guide to organized play)only have two, count them...2
So, my questions are as follows:
This is my 1st time for both Pathfinder & PFS. And, I was wondering: 1).Are there any things I should try to avoid/handle more carefully than the text of the scenario implies? 2). What are some of the best way to go about "trouble areas" that other GMs/Players have experienced in the past? 3). Any idea about the scale of maps? (Are they accurate or larger than the print-out indicates?)
Not permanently, but just casting the spell on the item as an action in game. I know that the spell says that a lantern is the focus item, but I am curious to see if the spell could be applied to other light source items as well (i.e. through Spellcraft checks or with a feat, ect). And if so, would it be legal for PFS?
So, I've bought the Folio & want to use it for my PFS characters, but I don't relish having to drop $10 or so for a new one each time. Is it possible for me to make copies of the pages I want to use, bring the Folio with me to games & still get the Free Re-roll if I need to? (I know full well, about having the physical copy of a resource present is mandatory. I DO own the copy of the Folio in question.)
Hi, PFSOP lightly-seasoned newbie here. (I've been gaming for a little while, but have only been playing pathfinder for five months. Seriously. The first thing I looked into before my hubby & me even bought the core book was how to join...) Anyhow, My husband and I both play shadow lodges characters that work as a 2-man team. If one of us needed a necessary item for task completion, could the other buy the item and give it to the other to keep? And if so, how would you record that on a chronicle sheet?
