Great suggestions Set, thanks. Though some of them would be tough if they chose different races. I can't see the same midwife for a human and a dwarf...though I will admit that idea is my favorite.

But I think the celestial happenings might be a good key to work off. Even an elfling could have been born durin an eclipse. And who says they have to have been born during the same eclipse, right?

I'd have to figure out some sort of ceremony for the evil boss to have performed to figure out who all was born on an eclipse.

My trouble is, the guys I play with tend to like to have an explination for everything. I can only imagine hearing from several of them, "How the heck would this guy know when I was born?? There aren't birth certificates he could hack into on a computer to find me."

As DM, it's kinda hard to get away with "Cuz I said so" with these guys.

I was kind of thinking along the lines of the fact that had the person not interferred with the characters, the prophesy would never have come about.

I do like the idea about the 7th son of a 7th son, but I was hoping to let the players create their own background story, and don't want to horse collar one of them into being the "chosen" one. Besides that, I kinda wanna keep em guessing as to who the preophesy could be about, or if it's about all of them.

I know this is stuff I should be answering on my own, but I'm just looking to get some feedback on this and appreciate anything I get.

Thanks again

I'm starting a new Campaign and could use a few ideas to help me get rolling. I'm trying to battle the issue of why and what drew the party to work together. I've got that worked out by having all the players killed off by the same guy. He was hired because there is some prophesy concerning the players and his boss. The thing is, I'm no good at thinking up prophesies that would warrant someone going WAY out of their way to kill a bunch of nobodies.

I could really use some suggestions here for the riddle/prophesy. Thanks for any ideas.

Being as my wife often refers to me as an overgrown surly dwarf (yes, surly dwarf is awfully redundant)I have always bent toward playing dwarves. My own mentality and behavior has always seemed to be inline with that species.

However, I can understand why there are so many humans appearing, they do after all breed like rabbits and tend to be struck by wanderlust more-so then other races, ergo making prime candidates for adventurers.

Even still, I don't see myself ever playing anything other then a dwarf, unless of course it is a human with very dwarf-like traits.
