First Save
Jonathan continues to make space between himself and the rest of the group (moves another 30', so any burst that affects him will need to be at least a 30' radius to hit the others), and then casts a Magic Missile at the one Bedik hit.

Aren't the (surviving) witches on 22 init and Jonathan and Bedik on 20? ( Whisper is on a 13 and Vargos on 10) So what are the 2 remaining witches doing, having taken 20 odd damage apiece (11 from my Burst of Radiance, and Whisper and Bedik's attacks...)

Jonathan mutters some mystic words, and a blast of light engulfs the witches as Bedik charges them. Then he backs off, away from the witches. Casts Burst of Radiance, hitting as many of the witches as possible w/o hitting Bedik. Radius is 10', DC 16, reflex save for blindness, subjects dazzled if save succeeds. If evil, subjects takes damage: 5d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 2, 1) = 11 w/o a save

Telling the truth they may be, Jonathan thinks to himself, but this is getting royally creepy... I'll just stay here in my friendly shadows... He will also take a spellcraft check to identify magic, say something like a charm effect:

Ok, we have a party, and I think a skills inventory would be useful. Jonathan is stealthy, has a high perception, is good at bluff, decent at intimidate (when he lets down his disguise, of course), has spellcraft, and has a surprising amount of knowledge of history and nobility.

Watching Whisper's pantomime intently, Jonathan exclaims :"Oh, you think the first job we should try is the farmer, the second is the claim jumper, and finally the dungeon thing. Ok, let's go find farmer Joseph - the poster says a 1/4 mile north on the highway, the third farmhouse past the Monke bridge " With that, Jonathan starts walking...

"I am sorry Whisper, have I mis-stated your intent? You wish to pursue this claim jumper, rather than deal with the farmer's problem?

"Well, Bedik wants to help Joseph the farmer, I am willing to do this, and so, I think, is Whisper. If Vargos agrees, our decision is made." Looking up at the clouds, he continues "It's cloudy, but it doesn't look like it will rain. Shall we try and find Farmer Joseph, so we can try and solve his problems tonight? I can see in the dark, 90 ft darkvision how about the rest of you?"

Jonathan turns to the newcomer and looks him up and down. A wolven, not common in these parts, he thinks. "Your far from home and I've never heard of a Wolven who could speak a civilized tongue. Well Whisper, be true to your salt, and I'll not have problems working with anyone. The name's Jonathan, Jonathan Tarquirian.

"I take it you're looking for a job as well?" asks the non-descript man Take 10 on disguise + 10 hat of disguise + 4 Cha -2 different race = DC 22 to notice something is off about the "man" . "I have no objection to helping the farmer, and a friend to watch you back on such ventures is always a help. My name is Jonathan, Jonathan Tarquirian."

What's the adventure hook? Are we just wandering in the town of York, or have we been summoned for a purpose? A nondescript man wandered the St. John's Grene, looking in the stalls and peddlar's carts, examining what's for sale.

" A sorcerer doesn't have one of those... In my experience, it's generally treated as a floating spell slot that uses the sorcerer's normal spells known, but that's a DM's call.

Saashaa wrote: It is not my intent to be difficult. What reason would a chivalric orc have to adventure with undead? They seem fairly anathematic to the religions that Orkania has accepted. Not sure, we are all in the City of York, in Bretonia. Let's ask a different Question: Why is your character in York? Jonathan is in York, because that is where he sent the ship with his wife and kids (which apparently never arrived). He is hoping to a) review the port records, and b) find a bunch of old retired sailors that he can ask about rumors from 17 years ago... |
