DM Question:

Do these guys look fully human to Hestia?
Awareness: 4d3 - 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1) - 8 + 2 = 3

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

So in the mooks' turn, the 3 standing guys took their action. Do the guys on the floor take any action, or should we move on?

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

There are still the 3 goons on the floor, yes? The ones that Theron damaged/stunned?

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia peeks through the doorway, points at one of the gunman, and attempts to Dominate him.

Dominate: 4d3 - 8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3) - 8 + 5 = 7

Fair(+2) difficulty, attempting Insidious Dominate. INSIDIOUS DOMINATE Invoke: Until the block is removed or the duration ends, the target takes 1 point of stress damage per exchange, unaffected by barriers, shields, or armor.
Compel: The control of the dominate is such that it takes much of the biotic’s attention to hold. Increase the recharge of all powers while dominate is active by +1.

Duration: 1 exchange per 3 shifts, rounded up. I think this result is 7-2 = 5, rounded up: 2 exchanges. They automatically fight for my side as best they can, without any specific communication from me.

Whoops, sorry - is it only Athletics allowed, or can we use the other two mentioned vs guns in the book? If only Athletics, subtract one.

"There IS something wrong! Come with me if you want to live!"Hestia drags the worker behind the console (as much as possible) and rolls the chair in front of him. "Down on the ground! You'll have more cover. We've been infiltrated. Whatever you do, don't get up or call for help, or we're gonna die, you along with us! Probably slowly!"

Oh man. If that somehow manages to put one stress on him, I spend a FP to put a mild psychological consequence on him, COWERING IN FEAR, so he doesn't look or call for help, just huddles behind the chair/console until told otherwise.

Don't know what or how many or abilities until we open the door. Maybe?

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

I'd prefer to wait for Theron. It's just a few more days.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

While Hestia approaches the door, she surruptitiously taps out a message to the others. Door-pounders at 101. Delayed long enough, need to open the door. Any ETA?

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia turns away from the worker and catches Theron's eye. She points at Theron, then through herself to the luncher, then taps the top of her sternum and points at the door. With a nod, she moves to the door, gives Theron a few seconds to position himself or prepare. Once he signals that he's ready, she palms the door open switch.

Holding on the door open for preparation or plan-changing idea from Theron. Geez, we should have asked the guy's name to make posting easier!

GM:
Are there any doors or hallways leading out of this room besides the one to the elevators?

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

"Exactly. Luckily, we haven't delivered everything yet, so there are more lunches if you want one. We might be her an hour or more, and nobody's going to want a stale lunch." Hestia sets the bag near the geek and meanders behind the console to get to her Omnitool on the sly.

If she is able to get out of his view, she taps a message to the team. T & I in 101 eating lunch with a geek. Avoided the muscle. Secret elevators near us.

"Don't worry; we saw a bunch of security personnel running around while we waited for the elevator," Hestia soothes, "I'll bet they've found them by now."

She grabs the back of the chair as it comes around and keeps turning it so he has to face them, glancing to Theron for help. Do I need a check?

"Lunch delivery," Hestia says, rummaging through a bag for a meal, walking up to the chair, and holding it out to the man with the most cheerful and clueless of expressions.

Hestia nods, picks up both bags of lunches, and slips throught the door, slipping to the side along the wall as quietly as possible to clear the doorway for Theron.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia grabs the lunches and scoots over to Theron. "Secret elevators are coming," she whispers quietly. "Can we go in? Should I stall them while you go in?"

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia tries the hall in the other side of the T, still looking for some secret door, and whispers to Theron. "Maybe the doors are all from the inside, but one entrance? Sounds like a risky bottleneck."

"Wow, nice carpet. I'm gonna look for where this lunch goes." She squints at the lunch as if it were the greatest mystery of the age, waving it like it wasn't sending her where she expected to go, playing up the disorientation slightly. She moves to the top of the T and looks both ways to see if there's more than just 101 to the left up here.

"Right. Let's move. I have tips to earn." Hestia checks her Omnitool and heads towards the lifts.

"I wish we had the uniforms," she says quietly to Theron as they go. "If you get caught or get flak from anyone, ping me on the Omnitool. I'll play ditzy screwup, you can play annoyed co-worker." She cocks an eyebrow at him for confirmation.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia nods. "Then it wouldn't be obvious that you were scanning the place, Theron. What are you guys going to do while Theron spies and I deliver lunches. Oh, hey, anyone want lunch?" She sniffs the courier bag appreciatively.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia grabs her case of lunches and checks her Omnitool for her directions.

Once the Salarian has returned to his business, she takes a moment to talk quietly to the group. "This should get Theron in to the area he needs to check. I can deliver this case, then swap with him to finish delivery. We don't want anyone suspicious because they didn't get lunch. Sound like a plan?"

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

"Awesome! Sounds like a deal!" Hestia beams at the salarian, beckoning Theron over. "My friend just started, too. He thought I'd have better luck finding where to get a uni than he would. More hands to help with the lunches! Hey, what about tips? Does anyone ever come across with gratuities? And where are we going to deliver? Offices or residences or both? Are they gonna charge us for the uniforms?" She keeps a running stream of chatter going at the poor courier to keep him from being able to think too much, and starts grabbing orders.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

"Makes sense to me. We could get a uniform apiece, each get an "order", then reconvene near 101 when we are all past security," Hestia suggests, then makes a beeline for the nearest bag-carrying, green-and-black courier.

"Excuse me," she says somewhat frantically, "I just got hired and... well, where do I get the uni? I wasn't paying attention. Help a sister out? I need this job!" She gives the courier an pleading yet somehow vapid look.

Do we need a roll to figure out what we can dig up about the address on the local Net, and about any news or history associated with it. Or is that what the Alertness is for?

Hestia notes the change of status on her Omnitool with glum satisfaction. "Oh joy. Here we are on Noveria." She scowls at the device. "And I bet that since we're deputized, we can't even get bounties on wanted criminals."

She sighs and looks to Grace. "Now what, Sarge?"

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Beers, Hestia sends the other Omnitools, while trying to keep the look of sullen boredom on her face.

Hestia sends a message to the others via her Omnitool so they can't be overheard.

If this works, you guys are gonna owe me beers.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia slips up next to Grace and whispers, "If they kick up a fuss, feel free to yell at me for insubordination and make nice with the aliens. I'll sulk."

In the meantime, she strains to overhear the turian.

Hestia finally looks up from her Omnitool, also surprised that the turian might be considering the idea and somewhat suspicious that she's being played.

"Ayup, Sheriff, that's right. We're not here to cause you heartburn, we're here to see that the wheels of commerce turn smoothly. We ran into a pack of bad dogs at our last site, so we know that unexpected things happen. Nobody's fault. We just want to get the job done and go, Sheriff." Hestia returns the turian's smile.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

"How about deputizing us as long as we're here? We're already in service. We take your oath as auxiliaries, get a little badge, and keep our weapons. That way, we can get our job done safely and not pull you away from your important duties. Everybody wins." Hestia smirks. "And isn't that what good business is all about?"

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

"I'm sure there's no law against interfering with a RITS team, right?" Hestia remarks, still fiddling with her Omnitool. "Maybe they don't care if their relay works. What's the worst that could happen? They'd be cut off until another team could somehow get out here. That won't compromise the flow of goods and services. Not at all."

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

Hestia rolls her eyes at the ERCS squad and leans against the nearest wall, waiting for Grace to get them cleared through. She makes no effort to hide an expression that says she smells something bad when regarding the turian, especially since she doubts the creature can read her face. With a deeply bored and put-upon sigh, she activates her Omnitool and ticks through the news of the day.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

When the party boards the shuttle, Hestia pops her head into the cockpit to greet Gir. "I wish you were going with us, but there's nobody I trust more to get us out if necessary."

She flops into a seat, fastens her restraints loosely, and curls up on her side, apparently asleep.

Human, Genetically Engineered Shields: 4 ☺ ☺ ☻ ☻ Armor: 1 ☺ Stress: 6 ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Fate Points: 3

"Yes, Sarge," Hestia replies automatically, then finds a bio-station for a quick pit stop before meeting up with the team in the armory.

She dons her armor and shield generator, slips her knife in a pocket to hide it, and checks and double-checks her Predator pistol before strapping it on. Moving to the doorway to make room for the others to gear up, she taps her Omnitool, studies the data displayed there for a while, then banishes the display with a gesture.

She takes a deep breath, holds it for a few seconds, then sighs it out, relaxing as she does, until she is still and poised, half-lidded eyes looking at nothing in particular as she waits for the more heavily armed and armored teammates to finish their preparation.

Hestia watches Grace try Salarian waffles with interest but no real emotion, though she looks somewhat baffled by the idea of 'dad bringing home a book from work.' She takes the time to polish off her own breakfast, then (after washing everything down with more coffee), tries to get back to planning.

"I agree with Dern who agrees with me. My biotics ain't exactly subtle. I'm sure that's a big surprise. Guess we need to play strict defense on this one, though I hate letting others get in the first shot."

Seeing that the others haven't wolfed down their entire breakfast in seconds, she hops up from her seat with a quick 'be right back' over her shoulder and trots back to the mess line. After a brief conversation, she takes two bottles from the attendant and returns to the table. One she clips to her belt, and the other she pushes toward Theron, using just her fingertips.

"Biotic energy supplement for mission days," she explains somewhat awkwardly, not looking at the newcomer. "Kept in the mess." She shrugs.
