Thanks buddy! Sorry, I wasn't as active as I normally am... I just have gotten really burned out lately. Thanks for running, and I hope to play alongside you guys in the future, after a short hiatus.

The young man looks troubled, as if everything he ever believed about Taldor was a lie...

Haldan nods. "Well done, let us move out."

I guess the recital room it is. Rysalius want to take the +4, and I will take the +3?

Haldan speaks in low tones, "Let us search the recital room, as I believe the Library could take too long. Call out what you have found and let us coordinate this search."

Let us save the two one-time bonuses for the main library, as that may take the longest time.

"Let us make haste, at last check we had an hour. We have probably used 20 minutes up on those last two rooms, there should be a crescendo in a few minutes..."

Moving to the next room, Haldan again begins his search in earnest.

Haldan, after indicating the texts to his fellow Pathfinders, continues to the next systematic room to continue the search.

"Shall we move to the next room?" Haldan nods to Glorymane, a smile of satisfaction on his face.

"Boys and girls, we have just about an hour left, let us hurry through. I think the Enemy Analysis text is one that we need. The other may be of some use as well."

Moving to the next room, Haldan will continue the search, after casting another (and his last) heroism.

Haldan shrugs, "I guess I misunderstood the mission. I wasn't thinking that we needed the original, just the information, but I guess, if our mysterious benefactor requires it as evidence, the original would be required."

"Wait, wait, we cannot simply remove the lineage document. We need to make a copy, so that they do not know it has been disturbed." Haldan comments, as he produces a quill and inkwell. "Does anyone have a faster way to copy this document?"

How long will it take to copy the document?

"Master Linger, I do believe that you are likely correct. We should, however find the information that we need first, as I am sure that he has never been in this room. I find it unlikely that he should know what resides here," the young Taldan turns to take in the chests that lay before him.

"Agreed." Haldan follows along, helping to keep an extra eye open for traps.

"But how will she know which paintings are of the Grand Prince?" Haldan points to his eyes.

Shushing Tamerius the Taldan archaeologist speaks, "The less she knows the less she can be implicated. We must do this on our own."

"Now before we get distracted, let us finish exploring to see if there are more clues to be found," Haldan continues quietly, "We'd best not go in half-cocked, for I am sure that the Lion Blades have a nasty trap in store for us if we fail with the statues."

Taking care not to bother Lady Iliyana in her quarters, we should systematically continue checking rooms.

Going to be out of commission on Saturday, folks. Flying to Oahu for the Warrior Dash. GM has permission to autopilot me...

"What is your name, milady?" Haldan asks, trying to suppress a seething anger. He had always looked up to the Lion Blades, wanting to become one, someday. To see the cruelty that they would visit on their own people is unforgivable...

Haldan frowns slightly, Making promises that we cannot keep... I must do my best to protect this woman and her family. But how?

Haldan shakes his head, "Milady, you seem to only hear what you want to hear. The princess wants no such thing, unless you know something that would place the Grand Prince's claim to the throne at risk. We only want the best for Taldor, and if you do not allow us access, you are only aiding those that would see Taldor remain the empty shell that it is today. I beg of you, please let us fulfill our mission, and not only save countless lives, but confirm that the Grand Prince is the rightful ruler and silence his enemies once and for all."

"Let us be systematic about this, as we enter the hall, we should check the next door, following the left wall."

Haldan relates that 15 minutes have passed and agrees with Shel, "We should check the other rooms as well. Perhaps with more information, we can solve this puzzle with greater ease."

Haldan walks up to the vault, checking for magic and traps, "What do you suppose is in here?"

"Fine, but remember, people, we are on the clock. Let us hurry!"

Sorry if it sounds like I am coming across as a prick. I am just a little frustrated. It might not even be your fault, maybe that is just how the scenario is written.

It is my personal issue with the whole "never split up the group" rule in RPGs nowadays probably, but couple that with going against my natural instinct to accomplish the mission by "clearing the map" and I guess I am getting grumpy. ;p

Please don't take it personally. ^_^

Just to be clear, I am playing Haldan as non-meta as possible. My position on this is that the complex does not seem to be huge, by description, and we are on the clock. Now, it is fine that they have detailed a mechanic for searching the library, but as players we shouldn't even really know that. I am approaching this library as I would normally. By looking at a few books, you can get a sense of the organization of the collection. Since this collection of books is separate from the main library, and in an office of sorts with a portrait of the Grand Prince, I would venture to guess that some of what we are looking for might be in here somewhere.

Now, it seems to me that you are telling me that my idea is a waste of time. If that is the case, I am a little disappointed.

As for combat, like I said, based on description, it does not seem like this place is huge. If it is, I apologize, I did not get that feeling. I figure that if something happens (such as combat) they can call for help, and I can be there in little time.

Going to take this conversation to Discussion, before I have Haldan respond.

What is the objective here? Since time is of the essence, it would serve us to have a couple of us begin the research that we need to while the rest checks the remainder of the library.

"You guys finish exploring the area, I am going to get started, and you can join me when you are done. I will use the extra time to make sense of the cataloging system so that we can hopefully speed up our search," Haldan looks determined to complete the mission objectives, concerned for the time that it is taking to explore the library.

Haldan heads straight for the books to find what they need, for either objective.

EDIT: Regardless of what anyone else rolls, Haldan is taking a lead. I intended to write this before I found out what I rolled, but realized that I hadn't after I hit submit.

Haldan frowns, trying to search his memory about new leadership in the Lion Blades, not that it would be easy information to come by...

"This is not a good sign. The Lion Blades are supposed to be the eyes and ears of Taldor. If they treat their allies so thanklessly, it is yet another failing that must be remedied," the young Taldan stands up, "Help us make this a better Taldor, for all of us. I will help you any way I can, but I believe we have a little over an hour left!"

Turning to his friends, Haldan begins organizing the search, based on what he has been able to piece together of the quick looks he has gotten of the library, then turning to their new friend and smiles, "Show us the back room."

Haldan is silent for a moment, "You are bound here? I would definitely help a friend in need. You would, of course return to your duties after a small break..."

Do we know why the wardstones are failing?

"Perhaps I may be mislead, but I will hold my own counsel as to whether this will be in the best interest of Taldor. I do trust Lady Morilla, though I will admit before anyone that she is deft of skill in the arts of manipulation. I believe in her frustration that the nobles of Taldor have become only puffs with no substance."

Suddenly remembering his place, Haldan bows to Baron Rysalius, "A thousand pardons, my lord. I am usually more careful of how I speak," the young Taldan apologizes before adding with a sincere smile, "Though perhaps, I only use our friend's magicks as an excuse for speaking plainly." Adding mentally, ...too long has it been that I speak my mind without regard for position, I am sure I can expect a severe chastising...

Returning his attention to the lion, "As our Chelaxian brother says, we must show the world that Taldor will not hide behind its borders and abandon our upstart children when the demons of the wound come surging, as I have heard they are about to. The floodgates are bulging and the walls threaten to fall."

Allowing this point to sink in a bit the archaeologist continues, "I am no warrior, I am but a child that plays at being one of the Rondalero Duelists of old. This," he spreads his arms wide to indicate the library, "is my arena. The information about the Grand Prince's heritage is our price for being able to return our great nation, the greatest nation in all of this world, to glory. I will not spout the rhetoric that my esteemed colleague clings to so fiercely, but I will simply ask that you help you restore a little honor to the Taldor of old."
