Yeah trickster is just not that good mechanically. There are better ways to build "rogue who casts"

I might regret this, but I'm going to try to eat his AOO.

First action: cast Shield (verbal, does not provoke)

Second and third action: Gratt will cast Spray of Stars (cursebound) in a 15' cone only including Fasiel for 1d4 ⇒ 1 fire damage, basic Reflex DC18. Normal rules for damage, but additional effects. On a crit success, he's unaffected; success, dazzled for 1 round; failure, dazzled 3 rounds, critical failure, dazzled for one minute.

This activates Gratt's minor curse.

Curse of the Sky's Call. You have your head in the clouds—and not just figuratively. Your body is drawn toward the heavens, making you lighter and less substantial than you should be. Your eyes glow with starry light, and your hair and clothing float and drift around you.

Minor curse: Your unnatural lightness makes it hard to keep your footing and interact with other physical objects. You are enfeebled 1 and take a –2 penalty to saves and DCs against Grapple, Shove, and other forms of forced movement.

Gratt will use his shield block if hit in an AOO.

I'm not the most spry agent around, but let me know if you have a way I can help.

Gratt is older, not trained in athletics, and not crafty either. He examines the lava closely, using his knowledge of Occultism to try to disbelieve the illusion, if only for himself.

I assume this would be a secret roll for Occultism (Gratt has a +2 to mental effects, noted on the macros page), or a perception roll against the spell DC.

If he can disbelieve it, he'll take any remaining actions to walk through the room to the gnomes.

It may not be the most effective, but I'm not ready to use a Cursebound spell for this encounter - if either Leaf or Minuet take too much of a beating here, I do have a Heal and a Spirit Link ready to go. I didn't take the chance to distribute the three additional minor healing elixirs out but I think everyone has one.

Had a feeling that would be the case anyway, but good to know that there /might/ be a use for Dancing Lights someday. Nobody else stepping forward, but Gratt is much more charming (Charisma) than knowledgeable about society (Wisdom).

Gratt whispers to the rest of the party, "That's Khayrat, one of the people Venture-Captain Barun pointed out as key for the lodge's future. Probably best if we help quickly."

If we need to distract the crowd from him, could I aid a performance check by using the Dancing Lights cantrip to help make it more interesting? I can do diplomacy and can be intimidating, but I'm a bad liar (untrained in deception). I'd bet that others have better Society rolls (+6), but happy to roll if nobody else steps up quickly.

I can search for any magical traces in other rooms as well if we want to rush, or we can stick together and be thorough. I'd rather not risk missing something and stick together.

As we're starting to clean up, and as the non-Pathfinder people are cleared from the area, Gratt talks a bit about our previous encounter with Safa. As he starts talking, he looks over at Minuet, nodding.

"Feel free to add or correct this old man's recollection, Minuet.

"When this lodge was first planned, a group of agents was sent to set it up and then stopped sending updates or responding. We were sent to check on them and find out what happened. They were held by Safa. To get our colleagues released, we were given tasks including disrupting some rivals of Safa's controller and nearly starting a war. Safa did what they could to help us and subvert the will of their binder, without violating the words. When they were told to attack us at the end, Safa held back most of their power and the first group sent woke up, not having realized months had passed."

Gratt digs in to his pack and finds some notes (that he should really turn in to the archivists).

"Ah, yes. The rival who we were sent to attack was Azam bin Basheem? Hmm, something like that, my notes are a little smudged. Safa's binder also wanted us to attack some hobgoblins on a ship in the port, and Safa asked us to ensure that their captives were free before burning the ship.

"Unfortunately, I think Safa was punished for helping us. I'm sorry we couldn't help them more last time we were here, but they should be somewhere between an ally and a very reluctant enemy as we try to stop their binder. They did let us know that there are four more 'pranks' coming our way."

Gratt rambles along as he begins to search the area for any clues that might help us and looks to identify the extra potion that appeared in his pouch.

Gratt turns to his companions. "We've met. Safa was involved in a previous incident before the lodge opened - I can fill you in later."

Gratt pats his belt pouch and nods at Safa, deciding not to reveal what appeared in the pouch until we're sure we're not observed.

Gratt thinks back to the crowd watching and looks around for anyone who was a little too gleeful or interested without fear, presumably triggering a secret Perception check.

I think real hard about what could cause this, maybe it's a curse of some kind that I can understand using some of my experiences. Curse Lore, or simple Arcana or Occultism?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm quite hungry. It's like weeks passed since the last time I spoke or ate. I'm sure that we'll find our targets soon enough -- maybe one is at the dining table now!
