Seeking some players for a fun game, this game will last 20 weeks, for the 1st Story Arch. Hi well I have been a Gm here and a player for a time and right now don't seem to be doing much so I wanted to offer up fun game. This is a game lot like most Pathfinder games, I best set them out now so as not to wast your time reading wall of text to think, narr not for me. 1: Im Dyslexic, if your a pendent or hate bad spelling, missing words, or things messed up good bye now and happy gaming :), IF how ever you like fun story telling and loads of action keep reading. 2: Rules super light, I mean it, this is a PC driven Campaign NOT a game system driven game. Showing me you know how to get +6d6 more ice DMG with a 4 feats, and some magic will do nothing. I just don't care, I do care if you talk about he family magic sword passed down from father to son for 10 generations, why its called what it is and the deeds it down. If you like less rules and more PC/World/story then keep reading. 3: Long posts, I like em, I want you to get into you PC and you will be I hope, with the rules changes I'm going to offer. If you like that then keep reading. 4: You start Zero class, in this way you start with NO class ability's or spells/magic not even Zero spells. You will how ever get such IN game. So No classes as such, you gain ability from any class in game, so all players can do all core class ability's. Again happy with that read on. 5: No Alignment, that's right, there NOT an absolute good and evil, law of chaos in the world, just points of view, your PCs point of view sets whats good/evil/lawful/chaotic to them. Tricky a, if you happy with that read on. 6: Races: you can be any core race, [if other ask. 7: Stats - Race variables + 21 Point Spend [1 for 1 spend]. read on if you like 8:Money/Items etc.
9: 100 word Description - This is a core thing, write 100 words about your PC, any skill you name it in, you get 1 rank in, your item must be named in your 100 word description and your players name. Each key moment in your PCs life in game will add to this 100 words PC description. I worked out it was FarmVilla RPG, one of them online Teen games where every one is a school and dating, and the post speed was nuts. :) Ok back to something slower
Well I got the kind of vitrifaction I expected from some, others who PMed , you humble me, thank you, I hope hope you all the best. Just a side note as an Amber player, I hope you take the time to read the works of Jack Vance who passed away today, a truly great writer of both fantasy and SF. If you want to know where DnD and Pathfinder got a lot of its stuff, like "Prismatic Spray" Read the works of Jack Vance most of all Lyonesse, Dying earth and Cugel's Saga. It may shock you just how much DnD owes to Jack. Great wright and nice guy. RIP
I think that there is an inherent misunderstanding there of what this game is. This isn't a commercial product. This isn't some grand new publishable setting. I think now your willfully misunderstanding me to not hear what I am saying. Of course its not a commercial product. But that dos not mean players can't own and build whole parts of the world setting with out the limiting from the core group. My point is still valid, there is an oversight group that limits world contribution.
That core start as long again been past, shame its pushed back into that box all the time.
And my point is you can do both wile letting players add and truly expand setting, I know I have done it and seen some of the best do it. This is not to say your not good at just that, but I feel its limiting.My feeling others my not feel that,
That is very untrue, I never wanted to own the game or become you. I wanted to have true input, thats is and can be done. Lots of game setting and worlds let other contribute content. That is not what happens here, what happens here is a table top game, with a small core group asked other to come play a long side as long as they do not interfere with the core groups table top game, But this has grown well beyond that, I will not list the PMs I got asking me to 1: Come Back and 2: How much fun it was to play with other content in game. Thats what got me in the end. A world/game like this can grow to a much deeper and richer level is allowed to, but its clear that's not what you or the core group want. Its your world your rules if thats what you want then fine. This is why I am going, simple as that, I want to feel like I am growing not just a PC but a world, adding to it. The fun ended for me when it become clear, this is and will always be a house Table top game where only core group players will be allowed to have that scope in game play. I am not spending my Game time being a walk on part to such a core group and thats how I feel all my PCs and GMs PCs where being. Have fun core team, and enjoy the bit parts playing others. Well that fell of deaf ears, and yes I made my mind up to go use what little free-time I have on other things. Its the Dullness Lyn and the feeling of being always Rained in so the core players and your PCs can do the REAL stuff in the world, hell its your world, you can and do, so as you please, but for me to invest time in a world I have to feel life I have more than a passing and restricted creative element into it. I feel a lot of players not in your core group here are just stepped to banality to keep the work load down. Now let me tell you something of me, I have worked on a number of game worlds, From Gregg Stafford "Glorantha" A Stunning world, to Simon Roggers pelgrane press mutant cities blues, with my mate Robin Laws, yes that Robin Laws. I liked this idea and I will fess up I was here looking to see how this whole idea looked, Ok it's no Tekumel RPG but its good, and has the potential to be a great world setting if expanded. I'm a world building for RPGs and like to see how the world and Systems work to craft a expanding world. what makes me sad is that this setting could be like "spelljammer" even "Plainscape" but its more like GOURPs Goblins, "meets my life with master". Lyn all I am saying is let other grow out the limits here, make a group to help world build, they may shock you, with other States and groups, More than once you talked of your ideas for Story Archs, the other Crystal dragons etc, spelljammer all good for the BIG main story, of dragon eggs and dragon infighting, but how about letting others take over parts of the world out side the core group. That's how RPG worlds grow. Let a player take ownership of a location on the planet, listing whats there and popping that player made content into game info. I just want to make clear, I am going not because I don;t like Lyn or any other here, its just I feel Stalled, held back, limited, unable to make an impact on the shape of the world. Trapped in GM oversight that in the and gets players to talk about whats on the plate in front of them and how well they dance. Just to limiting for an AMBER RPG GM sorry, Have fun at school kids. Me I want to used what little free time I have in escapism into an exciting and engaging unreal world, not a replication of the banality I see all around me. Now I know voicing my views on this is going to get me band, but some one has to say something, I expect a torrent of denouncing me and saying how wrong I am and who they like things, or there is range, Really I expect it and know why they will be posting, but I had it. I come back and its to me slipping even more into mediocrity and just dullness, you go read and book or see a film where a school of super-kids do nothing but be steered into talking Tost and dresses, thats not a book of film thats going to make ANY money, this is not star wars or any kind of roll play where any thing really happons other than to Sunwakes who get all the best Drama wile PCs and GM try and get stuff past you. really?? Roel from reading his posts is perpetually confused, Human? Blob? bast? present? caring whats that? feeling? whats that? hes close to always being confused and he dos not now how to relate to others so you keep telling every one. So how do you think a PC will act faced with pool of talking goo that is about as emphatic as a pool of goo? really sometimes its painful.
My take on the lace memory thing. I don't think it's recording a blasted thing. It's just facilitating connections that already exist in the brain, allowing you to access the data when you want it. It's not recording anything that normal memory doesn't. Lyn has this 100% right, like who wants a copy of there mind that can be read by any one, Johnnys is NOT a normal lace, as Johnny has senses others don't have, But it still works just as Lyn says, the lace works as an organic interface, when you need BOTH a live or just dead Brain AND a lace to do a personality back up. The culture is not the end all be all, no matter how much Johnny thinks so. Johnny thinks it is to a point, But I GM spugly don't think it is at all, its just a nice idea of a future place a group of races may end up at, given made up tech stuff. But I like the way Johnny gets to be the whipping boy when things go south with other players. Hehe, remember johnny's been to two fights and s/he lost both and ran away. A good bad guy is the Hegemonising_swarm something that Storm dealt with when it was a warship. In truth one could view the CULTURE has a hole as one mass Hegemonising Swarm but with better party's. But as they clam no worlds or space as there own, The Culture, living mostly on massive spaceships and in artificial habitats, and also feeling no need for conquest in the typical sense of the word, possesses no borders. Its sphere of influence is better defined by the (current) concentration of Culture ships and habitats. Right now they are outside the Empire, one of the RIM expelled. Well that's how I am playing it, just makes things more fun.
