Hey guys, I've had a brief look at your sheets on DnD Beyond. I'm going to do one final sweep through, and once we are 100% good to go I'll knock out this initial post. I'm sorry this whole thing is taking so long, I promise that we will have the ball rolling by the weekend. Thanks for being so patient with the new guy y'all, i really appreciate it!

I've enabled content sharing on the campaign page through dnd beyond. You should now have access to way more character options if you haven't unlocked them yourself. Good to see a couple of you guys have jumped in already, I'll start working on an opening post for the campaign thread here so that we can get underway.

Sounds like point buy is the preferred method, so let's go with 27pt buy. I think we'll tentatively try google docs for tracking combat, we can always make adjustments as we go.

@Buckshot, honestly I liked both if your submissions so roll with whichever one you prefer.

For those you you with limited access to 5e resources, please check out this link to access the campaign on my dnd beyond page.

Gameplay thread is open!

Hey guys,

Please use this thread as a place for your OOC questions and discussion points, or general banter. Right now we need to decide on how you would like to generate stats for your characters, and what method of tracking combat (maps, theater of the mind etc) we are going to use. Throw your preferences and ideas at me y'all, and we'll make a democratic decision on how we'd like to proceed.

Hey all, sorry for the delay in responding. I have managed to come to a decision, and the selected players are below.

- Vrog Skyweaver

- Haydenmccullen

- Jubal

- Buckshot Bob

- Dreaming Warforged

- Scranford

Please feel free to dot in on the discussion thread whenever you're ready, and we'll begin fine tuning the character creation stuff. To all the applicants, thank you for throwing a hat in the ring.

Thanks for the heads up, warforged.

Recruitment is now officially closed. Stay tuned for a decision, expect a post no later than 24hrs from now. Thanks to everyone who applied and expressed interest, its greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, it seems like interest has well and truly waned so I'm happy to announce that recruitment will close in 24hrs. I'll begin compiling the applications here into a list, and make decisions accordingly. I daresay I'll announce my decision shortly after recruitment closes, and from there we can discuss the details for character creation.

@buckshot, go for it.

@Jubal, no worries. Once the group has been chosen we discuss the preferred ability generation method. I'm a big fan of the urchin background, good choice.

@Buckshot, sure thing. I'll only accept one character per applicant, but multiple submissions are fine.

The campaign will still be hosted on this forum, however the character sheets will be tracked via DnD Beyond. As mishima said, it basically allows the players to access all of my unlocked content for character creation. Trust me, it's awesome.

Good to see a broad range of ideas here guys! There is still plenty of time to submit, so please keep them coming.

@Dreaming, sounds like a really interesting idea. I think it will be cool to see how the character pans out, especially depending on your class choice.

@The nine, no problem; take your time.

@Buckshot, looks good man.

@Hayden, I realized you'd already posted just as the timer expired to edit my post. Valor looks good, a dual-wielding dex-based paladin is an interesting choice. I like it.

@Greycastle, thanks for putting that list together. You are awesome.

@Everyone else, there is no need to rush. You still have a week and a half before we look at closing recruitment, so please just take your time. If you have a few ideas I'm more than happy to accept multiple applications per person.

@Hayden, That's a no for the winged tiefling variant. Sorry man, but it's way too powerful at low levels and I feel like adapting to GMing on PBP will be hard enough without have to account for flight in a 1st level module. The other variants are good to go, there are some cool ones in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes that I recommend you check out.

Anyone else out there interested in a 5e game?

@Mishima, the game will still be set in Golarion. I dont feel that 5e (especially at low levels) is too tied to Faerun that the conversion will feel strange. In fact, the stuff I've put together so far has played out very smoothly in testing, I'm excited for this!

Love the applications so far guys, keep them coming!

You can has, indeed.

Hello everyone! I am a GM new to these forums, though not to the game itself. I would like to dip my toes into the wonderful world of PBP, and I figured there would be no better way than to do so by running the first module of one of my favourite Pathfinder adventures.

I'll be doing things a little differently though, as I am in love with the simplicity of the DnD 5e rules I have converted the module to suit. As such, those players selected will be offered a link to a campaign on my DnD Beyond account, granting access to a number of books for character creation. As such, the focus on this recruitment thread will be on your backstory.

Guidelines:

At this stage, I only really require answers to the following questions:

1) Background - Give me a bit of info regarding your character. I don't expect a novel; remember we are 1st level here and have had pretty limited experience as far as adventuring goes. A hook linking your character to Gaedran Lamm is a definite must (check out the CotCT Players guide for more info if you are unfamiliar with this module).

2) Character role - Just a brief overview of your planned class choice, background and role within the group.

3) Combat maps preference - Would you prefer we use Roll20? Google Docs? Theatre of the mind? or do you have another rad suggestion to help out a new GM?

4) Your playstyle - Why do you play the game? Do you love rolling a character with wicked stats and a huge sword who is a total combat badass? Do you prefer getting to know the other players and the world, and enjoy connecting to the setting? A mixture of both? Help me tailor this game to your tastes, so we can make sure that eeryone has a good time.

5) The first character you remember playing in a tabletop game, and a memorable moment you had. This can be as detailed as you want it to be; I would really like to get a feel for why you have continued to play this crazy game. Plus, everyone like to share old gaming war stories, right?

I am looking for a party of 4 - 6 characters. Recruitment will close NLT Midnight, 24 NOV 18. Of course, if interest has well and truly waned, or I feel that there have been enough awesome submissions it may close early. If so, I will afford everyone 48hrs notice to finalise their applications. Feel free to hit me with questions, or anything that I've missed and I'll gladly respond ASAP.

Good to see the interest is growing guys, the recruitment thread will be up by Friday.

@Double Gold, I'll look into the PFS credit. I didn't know it was that simple.

@Kittenmancer, awesome, thank you! I've already started my conversion, I might PM you soon with what I have to get some feedback on how the encounters went for you.

Sweet, I'll keep it 5e then. I'll start working on a recruitment thread, if no one shows interest it looks like it's just going to be us guys.

With regards to PFS credit, I have no idea how that works, but I doubt a 5e game would be able to fulfill the criteria. Feel free to correct me :)

Well that's refreshing, I was beginning to think I'd made a terrible mistake. I love the simplicity of the 5e rule set, I feel like it's a good fit for PbP even though I've yet to experience it.

I'm going to give this a few more days to gather up some interest. Do you guys feel that it would be better if we stuck to pathfinder rules? I only suggested 5e because that's what I've been playing most recently. I haven't played pathfinder rules for a few years now, but I'm more than happy to get back on the bandwagon if that's what people on these forums are more comfortable with.

@Dreaming Warforged, I completely understand your concerns; as I mentioned in the first post I'm just trying to make a start here. Although the edge of anarchy module is older, I'm fairly confident in my ability to convert it. The 5e rule set is pretty straightforward, and if the interest isn't there I'm happy to run it using the Pathfinder 1e rules. Thanks for leaving your opinion though, all we can do is see where this ends up :)

Hello all! I've been lurking on these forums for quite a while now, and I've finally mustered up the nerve to throw my hat into the mix. In order to build a posting history, I've decided to run (at least the first book) of Curse of the Crimson throne. This is merely an interest check to see if there are any who would like to participate.

I'll be running the game on these forums, using DnD 5e rules and the DnD Beyond interface to manage character sheets, items etc. Feel free to post if you're interested, and if numbers show that we can put a party together I'll start a recruitment thread.

Thanks for your time, looking forward to my first foray into PbP gaming!

Nothing to do with the current crazy that is happening.

Switching to PDF's of the products I want as I need them.

Thanks in advance!

Paizo just released Lost Omens Ancestry Guide and in it is the Conducting Rune. That rune when etched onto a weapon gives the weapon the Resonant Weapon Trait (new weapon trait they introduced in the same book).

So with that in mind.... Why not have an Agile Rune that makes your weapon Agile or a Deadly Rune that makes your weapon? They would be property runes so that alone would limit how many you can have by level and make it so weapons that already have those traits would not gain a benefit from the a rune of the same type (agile weapon gains nothing from an agile rune). Also make it so you can't have a fatal deadly weapons and certain runes would be limited to certain types of weapons like Backstabber Weapon Trait could only be etched onto a slashing or piercing weapon.

Even if limited to one Weapon Trait rune per weapon, I think it would be a cool way to enhance weapons via the rune system.

At my table we are changing Hero Points into Hero Cards. Why? because both players and GM alike forget about Hero Points at our table and they offer more than just 2 different things you can use them on and it should promote better team work between my players.

The cards are set up into three categories. Common, Uncommon and Rare.

At the start of the session, the GM deals out to each player the 1 Common and 2 Uncommon Hero cards.

There is only 1 common card and that's Stabilize, the Hero Point version of avoiding death by turning in all your Hero Points but instead you turn in all your cards.

There are 10 different Uncommon cards and 6 different Rare cards.

Now the way it works is when a player uses the common card, it burns up all their Hero cards for the rest of the session.

Uncommon cards work a little differently in that if the player uses the card on their character, the expended card will be placed at the bottom of the Uncommon deck and that card will be gone for the rest of the session. Now if the player uses the card on another player's character then they will be able to replenish the cards used in that manor when that encounter is over. This is to promote team play.

Rare cards takes 2 or more players to pool 4 of their cards together in order to give a player that the pooling players agree upon to draw 1 card from the Rare Deck. No matter if the card is used or not, the rare card must be returned to the bottom of the stack at the end of the encounter and the players who pooled their cards will be able to replenish the uncommon cards by drawing a number of cards they used from the Uncommon deck.

I'm currently using 31 cards in the uncommon deck:

6 Second Chance cards

4 each of Close Calls, Fail Forward and Heroic Action

3 I got Skills

2 each of Rub some dirt on it, Fast and Furious, Chain Reaction, Blind Luck, Maximum Effort-Maximum Reward.

There are only 6 rare cards total:

Last stand, Disruptive Attack, the quickening, adrenaline boost, cant touch this and "no, that's not how it happened"

Tonight will be the first time we'll be using them so I expect some tweaking to the system.

NOTE they are set up to be printed front and back on the Avery Printable Postcards 4.25" x 5.5" which are great for printing off item and spell cards too :)
I can make available single sided cards if anyone wants them.

After going through the Doomed Condition and how it works for Players. For reference see https://paizo.com/threads/rzs430j0?Doomed-Dying-and-Death#1

I got to thinking about NPC's interaction with the Doomed Condition would work and that's where by RAW it gets broken since NPC's are dead at 0 hit points (pg 458 CRB) would that mean if they ever gain the Doomed 1 condition they would just die since they have basically for all intent and purposes only have a Max dying condition of 1.

So unless they change it, they can't add any necro spells that players can cast that add the Doomed Condition or it will kill nearly any creature except those that are immune like Constructs.

Doomed is listed as The maximum dying value at which you die is reduced by your doomed value. Example, if you were doomed 1, you would die upon reaching dying 3 instead of dying 4. If your maximum dying value is ever reduced to 0, you instantly die.

How does the Doomed Condition interact with the Dying Condition?

Does it kill you instantly when you hit a Doomed Condition 4 even at full health? Is it only when you reach 0 hit points and gain the Dying Condition then Doomed Condition kicks in?

Inquiring minds want to know :)

Order shows Pending since Tuesday?

Am I stuck again?

Not the first time this has happened :)

There is a lot of confusion within our group on what Sustain a Spell does, some think you can Sustain the same spell multiple times per round to gain the effect of certain spells 3 times in one round but others are saying no that's not how it works. They state that the Sustain a spell action is only for keeping the spell going for another round and spell description of Sustaining the spell is only for that round only thus you can't cast say, Flaming Sphere and move it 3 times in one round.

With Sustain a Spell, it can be disrupted with certain AOO abilities but since a Witches Cackle doesn't have a concentrate tag, then they wouldn't be able to be disrupted by those same abilities thus a Wizard rolling around a Sustained Flaming Sphere could do it 3 times in a round but has a chance to be disrupted while a Witch Cackling wouldn't.

I want to start playing in the Pathfinder Society soon so having an official word on this would help clear up things a lot on how Sustain a Spell & Cackle works.

So anyone from Paizo care to give an Official word on this?

Here is a rune I'm going to be adding to my upcoming campaign

Quote:

DOOM_________________RUNE 10
RARE MAGICAL NECROMANCY
PRICE: 5,000
Usage: etched onto a melee weapon

A Doom rune is filled with dread from the netherworlds and as such Dooms the wielder of any weapon etched with this rune.
The Doom Rune has the following properties:
• Upon first wielding a weapon etched with the Doom Rune, the wielder gains the Doom 1 Condition until their next daily preparation's
• The rune gives the weapon a Deadly d10 Crit effect.
• When the wielder scores a Critical Hit with this weapon, it bestows a Doom 1 Condition onto the Target of said Critical. Gaining doom from the rune will not stack if gaining it from the same rune thus if two creatures have doom rune weapons they would stack if they both scored a critical hit the Doom 1.
• A Greater Striking Rune enhances the Deadly die and the Doom Condition thus a Greater Striking Weapon would enhance the Deadly die to 2d10 and bestow a Doom 2 Condition while a Major Striking rune would enhance the Deadly die to 3d10 and bestow a Doom 3 Condition.

It will be on a mid level NPC that will always be hesitant to enter into combat due to how it makes him feel when he draws his magical sword that's been handed down from generation to generation :)

I started the Pathfinder Lost Omens Subscription back on 8.23.19 and I'm wondering when the Pathfinder Lost Omens World Guide will be available again. It wasn't in back order status when I did up the Subscription and about a week later it went into back order status. So any ideas?

I would be fine with charging me for it now and letting me get the PDF while I wait for the Book to arrive.

Greetings,
I received a shipping notice on July 13th that my package 3208848 from Order# 7962235 has shipped. The tracking link with UPS Mail Innovations stopped populating any information past July 16th (shows its still in Fife, Washington). Anyway information would be helpful (tomorrow would be the 8th business day.

Thanks in advance.
