Venture-Captain Rashmivati Melipdra invites you to meet her in the artifact vault adjoining her office in the Pathfinder Society lodge, located in Niswan, the capital of the island nation of Jalmeray. From the lightning that crackles in the eyes of some passersby, to a street mural of a marid crushing battleships under massive waves, to the looming, multitiered pagodas that seem custom-built for oversized creatures, you can easily observe the influence of the genies summoned by the Vudrani rajahs to protect the isle on the city’s Commerce District.

Inside the artifact vault of the lodge, the heavy brass door that protected the entrance lies charred and smoking in a folded heap, as if blown from its hinges by an explosion.
The floor of the large, vaulted chamber is covered with debris not unlike the aftermath of an earthquake; broken and overturned shelves, daises, and display cases, as well as scattered sculptures, paintings, and talismans litter the floor.

A handful of Society scribes carefully clean up the mess, sorting through relics while recording observations on scrolls of parchment. Amid them, Venture-Captain Rashmivati Melipdra, a husky, middle-aged Vudrani woman with broad shoulders, kneels down to pick up the shards of a shattered glass obelisk.

feel free to introduce yourselves but expect the venture captain to be thoruoghly absorbed by the glass shard until march 4th

Can someone point me in the direction for challenge point conversion for q2 unforgiving fire.

My apologies I have appeared to have developed a gm writers block. As this scenario or whatever it is has not got anywhere I will treat it as a non event and your charcters are free to continue their pathfinder careers

I will talk to my friends about this as this is an unwelcome development for me

Maps and slides

No the rooms already taken Senor Iglesias jumped at the chance to sleep in the room with the new bed

Of course give the players a wrecked room they will want to investigate it, Ezren will have all the answers he needs rescuing

Maps and slides

Right lets get this game moving

You can either catch up on the gossip at Vizios or take the hint and head to the fiddlers dram and meet up with the mystery woman who comes with art work

Please also take the opportunity to add the relevant info to the slides linked in my gm line (I find it easier to find there than the campaign info ymmv)

In any case I have booked you passage on the Swiftsure a trader heading to Westcrown this evening Any more questions?

The Swiftsure is an excellent ship Lady Alya will be hard pressed to come up with a better conveyance at such short notice but it soon transports you to Westcrown

You learn today in Westcrown with the dying of every day’s light, businesses hurriedly close and respectable homes light lanterns outside their doors. Members of the dotarri light pyrahjes, man-sized torches, throughout the Parego Regicona and in the major plazas of the Parego Spera, patrolling between such islands of light in groups of seven. Taverns, festhalls, and similar establishments maintain sleeping rolls for those who stay after dark, collecting a customary 2 sp fee for boarders soon after twilight. Those forced onto the street after dark typically carry halorans, 7-foot-tall hooked staves hung with bright lanterns, made publicly available along the city’s most traveled avenues.

You make your way to Vizios Inn to find Vizio complaining bitterly about that fool Ezren What kind of Idiot wrecks his own room at an Inn

You soon learn Ezren has been found guilty of vandalism and as a pathfinder he is to be collected by a prisoner wagon to be dispatched from Citadel Rivad in the morning.

A human woman looks you over quizzically and cryptically says The rooms at the fiddlers dram are idiotproof and heads out

The port city is the former capital of Cheliax and the place was supposed to return to to usher in the humans golden age until he died before his grand entrance
Q: Westcrown monsters in the street. Kn Local [gossip]

Lady Ayla has heard the whole tale:
It all began in Rova of 4676 ar. What started as stories of strange creatures slinking through the shadows became a citywide panic as Wiscrani began disappearing off the darkened streets. Rumors spread quickly of a return of the White Plague or a resurrection of the infamous Council of Thieves, but these tales were soon replaced by reports of a shadowy calamity at Delvehaven, the local Pathfinder lodge, and sightings of dark and insubstantial beings hunting the streets. After months of ignoring or dismissing the problem, the government eventually launched a campaign to seek out and put an end to what they downplayed as an infestation of giant rats, goblins, and goblin dogs. Yet the dottari proved ill equipped for these midnight hunts, and the office of the mayor offered only empty promises. Growing fear and anger led to scapegoating and suspicions of insurrectionists from Nidal, which culminated in a mob’s daylight burning of twin Nidalese coasters. Finally, for the populace’s protection, a curfew was enacted throughout the city while a small army of dottari and experienced mercenaries were commissioned to deal with the shadowy curse that had afflicted the Wiscrani night. Numerous raids and hunts were conducted in the Dospera and ancient city sewers, only to result in the loss of many hunters with little apparent gain. Thus, the nightly curfew remained in place in effect for more than 30 years, with the unwary risking their very lives.

Beleg rises and bows to the Paracountess. ”No worries, m’Lady…but might I ask just what kind of beasts roam these streets at night?”

Shadowy beasts only attack at night and strong light sources they avoid but they have been known to lay waste to entire guard patrols that stray from the lights. Some say they originate from Delvehaven the lodge that has been sealed by both the pathfinders and House Thrune Signifiers but that link is unproven but is another reason pathfinders are not particularly welcome in Westcorwn or Cheliax

Greetings Paracountess, Do you have a description of Ezren? Do you have any idea what he might be trying to research? And what is the significance of the Desmire cousin being in charge at Citadel Rivad?

{b]Ezren old taldane merchant who has some skill in bookkeeping and wizardry. A perfect choice for collating my papers on Westcrown - or so I thought. He left a cryptic note having made a major breakthorough leaving for the Vizio;s Inn. An inn of some significance in Westcrown. As for the Desmires At one point there were negotiations between the Dralneens and the Desmires about me marrying one of them. I chose Absalom and the pathfinder society instead and the Desmire now hold a grudge against me and the pathfinder society. They are a very proud and powerful family and not used to being slighted[/b]

Maps and slides

Apologies for the delay. I will be at a con this weekend but hope to pick this up on Monday. At which point you will find the wizard Ezren has been found guilty of wrecking his room at the inn and is to be carted off in the carriage being dispatched to fetch him from Citadel Rivad in the morning and intercepting said carriage is your best means of reeing him and other prisoners. Also Old Chelaxian is spoilerese

Had a rough couple of days hope to catch up tomorrow

Maps and slides

Arriving at Paracountess Zarta Dralneen’s townhouse in the Ivy District—one of several homes the noblewoman keeps around Absalom—You come upon a magnificent gothic structure three stories in height. The ebon lacquered double doors wrought with gleaming silver fixtures greet the you, a prickly brass cone hanging from a chain serving as the door chime. Moments after ringing it, a servant in loose casual attire opens the door, greeting the Pathfinders as if expected. If questioned, the servant remains quiet, only responding when pressed, and then with only a few simple words: “My mistress will answer any questions you have once we reach her quarters.” Led through well-appointed sitting rooms, ballrooms, and a grand stairway granting a view of an elaborate study, you finally (after a brief pause to gather the early arrivals from the waiting room) arrive on the third floor of the house, at the door of Zarta’s personal study, beyond which lies her bedroom. Knocking upon the door and announcing his presence, the servant opens the darkly stained wooden door. A large intricate carpet dominates the marble floor in this sitting room. A chaise sits along the north wall and a desk spans the southeast corner, its chair positioned with its back to the southwest corner of the room. Three comfortable chairs are positioned around a small, low circular table. . Sitting in the chair behind the desk, Paracountess Zarta Dralneen greets you with a wry smile, putting away a few papers before standing to address you.

Beannachtai Lady Alya, Beleg, Curie she greets each of you by name. and a smile which is a touch broader for those of the dark archive

Sorry to drag you away from the Grand lodge. It suits my purpose that those pathfinders on this little errand should be under something of a cloud. I entrusted my notes on Delvehaven and westcrown to a researcher by the name of Ezren. He has taken it upon himself to gain further information from Westcrown itself! Taking my notes with him. I need you to go to Westcrown and retrieve him and my notes. He's probably staying at Vizios Inn as that was indicated as a inn of some safety. Since Egorian became the capital of Cheliax Westcrown as been run tby the five families and is quite crime ridden. Also there is some beasts that roam the streets at night so it is usually wise to observe the curfew. One of the Desmire cousins is in charge at Citadel Rivad the Hell Knight Fortress a half days ride from the town. I'd love to tell you more but without my notes that will be all I can tell you

Just double checking. I'm running the sanctioned content part of council of thieves book 1 This does mean I run as written and can not add more mooks if the party size is more than 4. (also maximum table size remains 6

Maps and slides

For sanctioned content on an adventure path Pcs must be of appropriate level as per the chronicle sheet in this case 2-4

The chronicle sheet issued will give 3 xp and 4 prestige with the society faction of your character

I have also opened up a gameplay thread so you can stealth dot and keep track of the recruitment process (I will do some house keeping to remove failed appliacnts/those choosing to adventure elsewhere before we start)

Time for applications will close 24 hours after initial recruitment post

(mehen and grimdog count as having made applications)

The rules as I currently understand them is we can have a party of up to six with no changes to what is written in the adventure (the recruitment by Zarta is padding I'm putting in to explain why pathfinders are involved)

Maps and slides

Zartas Town house is in the Ivy district and has a butler who will show you to the waiting room for Pathfinders

If the spell succeeds, the subject must also make a Will save. If this second save fails, the creature loses its extraordinary, supernatural, and spell-like abilities, loses its ability to cast spells (if it had the ability), and gains the alignment, special abilities, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores of its new form in place of its own. It still retains its class and level (or HD), as well as all benefits deriving therefrom (such as base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points). So my table (specifically Spica Capella the undine wizard) has come up with a creative solution of a wall of force as I have indicated to my table for your consideration

Now the cage has been weakened the wall of force should work but checking with the other gms as to how this plays out (just because it is now immune to damage in this tier does not make it an automatic solution also may end up being a shelter behind those who have cheesed it to the door can shelter

Thoughts?

Maps and slides

The door refuses to budge

Still working on how the wall of force works

Maps and slides

Deciding this is all taking too long Khurgon and Suusmaar decide to charge to the door only to find it is jammed shut. (Strength check to force it open or describe the cunning plan to open it)

Khugron takes half: 7d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 1, 3, 1, 3) = 22

Khugron half halved again on dc 20 fort: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 1, 6, 3, 2) = 19
so 9 or 4 on successful save
Khugron half halved again on dc 20 fort: 7d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 5, 2, 6, 6) = 28
so 14 or 7 on successful save

suusmar takes a quarter: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 2, 5, 3, 3) = 19

gives 24 total damage for suusmaar
Ninneye takes 19 damage dc20 fort for half

All are up

Zinta and spica appear to be waiting for things to be made safer but may wish to consider what buff spells they can cast

Ninneye gets caught by one of the tendrils as he successfully helps disable the Cage

ethereal blast dc20 fort to halve: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 2, 1, 2, 3) = 19

(Reads notes carefully)

51-100 caught by stray tendril: 1d100 ⇒ 20

not a fan of the straight fifty fifty chance of taking damage just for working on the trap.
One attempt per player per real life day is good. Guessing Rogjameeda is the only one with disable device?

Rogjameda manages to just about reduce some of the energy pulsing from the cage

(1 success reported)

other pathfinders are busily at work on this trap

Maps and slides

I am open to creative solutions for getting to the door But the special gives the door plot armour

Maps and slides

Zinta perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Rogjameda percep: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Khugron perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Ninneye percep: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Suusmaar perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Spica percep: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

Ninneye and Rogjameda realise the thingis blasting out ethereal energy of the energy type regular damage (about 7d6 worth). Those of hardy dispostion will mitigate the worst of it (fort save for half)

Your options are try rush past to a door at the other end (using the standard barbarian eats the damage from the trap) or try and disable it Disable device dc 25

The door is labelled chamber of truths and appears to be warded against teleportation magics

Ok you are in maze of cubicles This huge chamber is entirely tiled with plain gray flagstones. It’s uncannily cold, and only a trickle of light slips through a trio of tiny windows, one set into each adjoining wall, just below the eaves. The room is lined and partitioned with rows of massive stone cubicles. The cubicles stand twice the height of a grown human. Each cubical has an iron door with a brass plate on it. The plates are labeled and numbered with a black wax pencil.

You wonder where all the other pathfinders have got to or even Chavrion for that matter
