"Sedeb Ianew Kaahbek? Or maybe Kaahbek Sedeb Ianew?"

If she finds no magical auras, Florence begins to try her suggestions - starting with the first one.

"I don't think there's much else around here that'll bleed besides us," Florence points out, nose wrinkled with distaste. "Unholy water or blood? Sounds like necromancy at its finest, but I'm not surprised. Stelle's got a good idea, let's go see if we can figure out what the other three doors are going to require as a toll and then we can go from there."

"Hey! No fair, whatever that was," Florence grumbles as Ain-Mekh simply vanishes from sight. She throws up her hands, clearly put out by this newest development.

"More tests! I'm sick of tests! If Hakotep is supposed to be so powerful you'd think he'd just dispense with the formalities and get down to business!"

But Florence knows that complaining won't get them anywhere and she sighs.

"But it seems like we don't have a choice so we might as well get to it."

Once Stelle, Kosei, and Zilchus manage to scope out the pyramid and pinpoint the four different doors, Florence thinks for a moment.

"Well...it'd probably make the most sense to either start at the very top or the very bottom and work our way in the opposite direction from there. We could start with the lowest since it's the easiest to reach."

"Let's definitely see if we can get a look from the air," Florence agrees. "Once we actually find a way to get in, then we can decide what to do next. I should be okay to press forward now if we want, but I know that was an exhausting battle we just had, too."

"It is stunning..." Florence murmurs as they watch the pyramid descend out of the sky and set down a short distance from the Slave Trenches. "When I left home I never thought that this is where I'd end up, but...I...um...."

She shakes her head and looks away as Tef-Naju comes to speak with them, overcome with emotions too complex for her to put into words.

"I don't really know what I would want," Florence finally says after a lengthy pause. "Um, because I haven't really given much thought to the future or about what might happen if we succeed. Sometimes I'm still amazed that my story didn't end again back in one of those tombs in Wati."

Florence smiles slightly. "Guess I'll have to think on it, if that's okay."

Deciding to wait until the other incoming ossumentals arrive before throwing out more spellwork, Florence descends down to where she can reach Kosei. As she does, she places a hand on his shoulder and infuses him with regenerative power.

Though her Ring of Blinking and quick reflexes spare her from the majority of the battering electricity, it's still enough to finally push through the remainder of Florence's temporary health and leave her with real, legitimate scratches and scorch marks.

From her position up in the sky she falls back a pace, hovering near the Blue Chaosodile, and hauls off and flings a conjured snowball down at Pink.

Taking advantage of the break in the battle, Florence first moves to Stelle and grants her the benefits of Regenerative Sinew as well. Then she produces one of the many healing wands the group has at their disposal and gives Kosei a quick tap with it.

CLW Wand (Kosei): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Charges remaining on current wand (19).

Finally, she focuses her mind and slowly rises into the air - not too high, considering the howling winds above, but to a height of about 10 or 15 ft.

Florence's Round 4 (Redux), Initiative 9+

Prior to the new Air Ossumental showing up...

With no immediate immediate threats, Florence decides to help Nidhi with keeping everyone alive and fighting. She moves over to the injured croc friend and, a bit haltingly, places her hand on its flank. As she does, she pours a bit of her magic into the creature and some of the wounds it's suffered slowly begin to close.

Regenerative Sinew hex on the Blue Croc; it gains Fast Healing 5 for 7 rounds.

Florence's Round 5, Initiative 9+

Reflex (DC 18): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 Another 6 damage; Flo's G. False Life is almost spent.

"I don't know but I hope so!" Flo calls in answer to Kosei's question as she's battered again by electricity. She then moves to Zilchus and grants him the same regenerative healing that she did to his pet crocodile.

...but it fires just as she blinks into the Ethereal Plane, having no affect on the Material at all.

"Well, I knew it had to happen sometime...HEY! Keep the skeletons away from the Sun Disk; they're trying to take the Key!"

Half of 24 is 12; successful save so half of 12 is 6 damage. Correct?

Reflex vs. Water Breath (DC 18): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Half of 21 is 10/11; failed save so full damage of 10/11. I believe a quarter of the blast from last round would've been 6 damage. So most of Flo's Greater False Life HP has been eaten through at this point.

Florence suffers a little more pain this time around as she's pummeled with stinging acid and then a watery blast but she still manages to come out relatively unscathed.

Best. investment. ever!

Deciding to take a risk she ducks past Kosei and around the Sun Disk, potentially leaving herself open to a swipe from Fire if he's still standing. Once in position, she begins casting yet again....

...and a bolt of lightning arcs from her hand to Water! Then it jumps to Air, then to Earth, then maybe even back around to Fire if it's close enough.

As per Blink Flo only takes half damage from area attacks anyway so with her successful save I think she takes no damage at all?

Florence flinches as the barrage of pummeling lightning washes over her, instinctively ducking to avoid some of the damage. Her eyes pop open when she realizes that she's barely even scratched.

Whew! Expensive but worth the investment!

As Stelle turns her attention to the Fire Ossumental Florence decides to do the same, circling around until she has a clear shot and then conjuring a blast of cold and ice against it!

Happy Halloween! The temperature tanked here today; it was mid 60s when I got home from work this morning and now it's mid 30s and spitting precipitation.

Oh and as of 2:30 this afternoon we officially own our own (and first) home. Can't move in just yet as the sellers requested another two weeks to get moved out but still - we own a home :D

"Gah! Since when can you conjure things??" Florence jumps as the great elemental crocodiles appear to join them. She almost asks if he learned that trick from Ben but thinks better of it. "Not that I'm complaining, mind you..."

As Florence speaks she begins to cast a spell and then a small area of rubbery, black tentacles snakes up out of the ground all around the Earthen Ossumental, attempting to grab it and hold it - and any skeletons in the vicinity - fast.

"Hopefully that will slow a few of them down!"

Then, with everyone conveniently packed close together, she casts another spell to bless everyone with battle fervor.

I used to have a black cat named Spook. I got him when I was 7 and we had him with us for 15 years. He was a very good kitty.

(And yeah, as an adult I now know that the name can also be used as a racial slur. My 7 year old self was not aware of that at the time that I named him.)

At any rate, now that we're going to have our own home I am SUPER excited about the potential to have pets. I've already been scoping out the closest animal shelter (online) to learn more about them and to have a look at the critters they have.

There's a bonded pair currently there (one black cat, one gray & white, both male, not quite a year old) that look adorable. I already told my husband that if they're still there after Christmas then they might be coming home with me :3

He wasn't particularly impressed.

Also Him: "Hey wait, when did we go from getting 'a' cat to getting 'two' cats??"

(The original idea was that we'd get a cat for me and a dog for him since he's more of a dog person.)

Me: "Well, I mean, we don't *have* to get two but if there's a bonded pair then you can't just split them up...or if we wanted a kitten, getting two would mean they'd be able to keep each other entertained..."

Florence closes her eyes and thinks back, back, back, to what Zizzira the bee seer had told them about the Slave Trenches and how to activate them.

"Okay...we have to wake the Khepsutanem - which is the proper name given for the Slave Trenches themselves," she says slowly, trying to work her way through each step. "To do that, we have to place the Life Lantern, which we did. Then I think we're supposed to activate the Sekrepheres - we do that from here in the Monument Vault by dousing them in the proper order with holy or unholy water."

"Then, once THAT is done, I think we can go place the Pharaoh's Key in the center of the Sun Disk to finally call down Hakotep's pyramid."

She frowns. "There's nothing mentioned anywhere about using electricity, but...we did find that Wand of Lightning Bolt earlier...so you know what? Let's give it a try. Everyone, stand clear..."

Once everyone has given her some space Florence draws out the wand and points it at the first symbol in the sequence, which is that of Horus, and activates the wand...

"Good job Bynx, good job," Florence smiles, making sure to give the cat some head-scritches as he finally lets her take the squirming beetle. "Just goes to show that each member of the team is important, no matter how big or small. Or furry!"

She gingerly holds the beetle in her fingers, clearly not thrilled to be holding a live bug. "Okay, I'm going to pop this into place. Ready?"

And once everyone indicates their readiness, Florence attempts to slot the beetle into place on the far doors.

"W-wait...we have to catch ONE particular beetle in all this mess?" Florence gestures towards what appears to be an unending mass of beetles...

...and then blinks as her mind manages to pierce through the illusion and all the beetles seem to fade away.

"Er, never mind. I see the truth now; they're just an illusion like Kosei said. But Zilchus, you say that there's one that's real here, somewhere?"

Florence looks around, trying to see if she can spot it...and if she can spot it, then she tries to catch it...

"Yeah! Stop biting the croc guy! He's our most favoritest croc guy and we can't get another if you break him," Florence agrees with Stelle, giggling a little oddly as she does.

Then, as if realizing how strange that probably sounded coming from her, she stammers, "Er...anyway..." and then reaches out to mend some of Zilchus' wounds.

Florence is swift to take a step back as Red approaches her. Then she gives the now-visible Blue the same sort of look that she just gave his friend.

"Nice try but you can't hide that easily!"

Then she giggles, though it's a bit nervous with Red as close as he is.

"Well now, that wasn't nice at all," Florence remarks as Red warps Zilchus' favorite weapon. She peers at the creature from over Zilchus' shoulder, giving it the evil eye - or at least trying to.

"In fact, I think you need to hold back a bit. To even the odds."

And she gives an odd little laugh.
