Background
Erast is a child of the synthesis of the two sects, one from Rhaelia and one from Kajiata. While openly this merging has been celebrated by the peoples as symbolic of the new future, the higher and most secret and conservative groups of the sects are greatly afraid. Worrying about the future of this war of souls they find themselves enmeshed in, they consulted their seers and oracles and drew on old items and magics of great divining power, and with their aid chose a number of children from the hordes of foundlings presented each year at the various temples. Each one would be raised and given charge of a dominion, and the caring for the souls within that space. One for the land of Rhaelia, one for the sky, one of the cities and so forth for Kajiata as well. Foretelling the construction of the Avanestra, Erast was chosen to care for the Void of space. As foreseen, all of the children developed the beginnings of great powers and abilities, and some are ready to be sent out into the world. Erast is one of that number.

Educated by the sects, Erast acts as a Guide upon the Avanestra, helping his kindred souls along the Path. The sects have sent him so that he might understand his dominion, and through that understanding, one day rule.

Personality
Raised by the inner sanctum of the Sects, Erast comes off as religiously conservative and fanatical, though he has learnt to hide it among the heathens. Since he was raised with the idea that he was destined to be the Pope of Space he can be arrogant and self-important. What effect the infinite majesty of space will have on him is uncertain; it might humble him or drive him to further heights of arrogance.

Appearance
Erast is still young, though his hair is beginning to grey, including his curtly clipped beard. He wears a simple brown robes, with the cut and dyed markings of a Guide. His travelling companion is a small young hawk with speckled black and grey feathers. It appears normal except that it has a small purple gem embedded in its forehead.

Character Sheet

Disillusionment: Encouraged by his best friend, Erast stole out of the dormitories one night to attend a meeting of firebrand mages who yearned for more freedom, to hear what they had to say. Their words were idealistic and persuasive, and Erast found himself agreeing with most of their ideas and proposals. After the meeting broke up, Erast doubled back to eavesdrop on the ringleaders; he heard them speak of stealing lyrium, shattering their phylacteries, and the first suggestions of blood magic, despite everything they had been taught by the senior mages. Erast calmly left and woke the highest-ranking member of the Chantry he could find, and turned in those who had run the meeting and those who had attended.
Blaster not Master: One of the most academically prized schools in the Circle is that of creation, the summoning and control of beasts and creatures, much admired by the masters for its tactical and flexible efficiency. Erast chose to take extra classes studying the 'flashy' school of Evocation, learning how to create and change energy. He felt it far less dangerous to his mind and allegiance than communing with demons and possibly becoming arrogant from his control over his summons.
Ages Past: Erast has spent much of his life haunting the numerous libraries and scroll depositories of the circle, sucking in tales, legends, records and histories of mages, of the grey wardens, of the blight. As a result of this Erast yearned for a time when he can exercise his small freedom and fight alongside some great conflict like a blight.
