As the portal closes, the haze fades from Ember's eyes and she peers around. "...like that time we....Rhyol, why are you hugging me?" Once free from the warm embrace of her companion and brought up to last few moments of closing the portal and her confusion, Ember is quiet for a few moments, then retrieves her chronicling instruments "Just to make sure I'm am recording this correctly and make enspellment hasn't foggied my recollections, allow me to tell our story....." Ember begins telling her rousing version of his events unfolded. "We met in the city....varied band of intrepid adventurers...." "Given our mission....we found an able captain.....took a little persuading...." "Able bodied captain delivered us....area of concern....set adrift... If possible, he scaly skin flushes as she is immersed in her tale. Storm in the distance! Catastrophe strikes! Tumbling through the void! Weird wyrds stealing...no! A game! Peaceful resolution....cool heads prevail!" Tower in the distance. Beautiful. Crystals....Frightening cyclone. Intrepid band prevails! A portal to chaos!" "Brave band enters despite the danger! A chaos wyrm! Poor Rhyol! Seasoned adventurers work together and overcome!" Still chaos, confusion...portal to..oh yeah..have to close the portal. Poor Ember! Warm Rhyol!" "At last the portal is closed and here we are. Did I miss anything?" Ember asks as she concludes her tale. GM:
"Stupid... stupid Ember!. This is no blanket. It's a constrictor snake camoflagued as a blanket!" Ember mutters to herself and she struggles weakly against Rhyol.
Ember looks at Rhyol with unfocused eyes. "Is it bedtime? Such a warm blanket...."
Suddenly her eyes narrow and she hisses at Rhyol. "Bad blanket! You're trying to smother me!" Drawing in a deep breath, she exhales a gout of flame at Rhyol.
Emeber sees the portal waver then spew out more chaos! She decides she'd better inspire her companions. "Don't fear friends, this is just like....that.....ti... Wait, what were we talking about?" she says, suddenly shaking her head in confusion.
"...time, time for bananas! Dali! Cozomnaut! The portal is a gateway to fields of gory!"
Ember looks up from her furious scribbling and considers the portal.
"I think adventure will make a great tale! What do you think about this for a start......" Ember remarks absently as she stares at the portal. GM:
"A band of varied, but intrepid adventurers are called upon to to investigate deep mysteries....."
Ember withdraws pen and paper and begins scribbling all she can see as she buzzes toward the portal. "Coming!"
Ember buzzes worriedly in circle, and peers at Rhyol in concern. "Is that it? Should we do anything else before we try to close the portal? What about the bubbles? I'm so unsure....! Can someone heal dear Rhyol?"
Ember's wings buzz frantically as she watches her lava friend get squeezed. Concentrating as she continues to inspire her friends, she casts a spell, then immediately follows with another, the latter directed at Rhyol.
Moment of Greatness: Range 50 ft. Target The caster and allies within a 50-ft. burst centered on the caster Duration 1 minute/level or until discharged Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes (harmless) Each creature affected by this spell is given the potential for greater success and glory. If the affected creature is benefiting from a morale bonus of any type, it can double that morale bonus on one roll or check, before making the roll. Once an affected creature uses this spell's effect, the spell is discharged for that subject.
"This reminds me of a story I once heard......" Ember says as she begins to relate a story a courageous maid who overcomes adversity and triumphs in cleaning a chaotic, disorderly mansion.....
Ember tosses away her spent wand as she flies up into the vortex. Her wings droop as she enters the chaotic area and she drops a foot in the air as she fights through vertigo.
Unfurling a small scroll, Ember casts a spell.
Ember flitter past her party, continuing to inspire competence. "We can do this team!" Coming to the last crystal, she tries to disable it.
"Eh...a little help over here...."

Ember's wings stutter and she falls a foot as the electricity washes over her. Lifting, she tries to deactivate a crystal.
After trying, she swoops out into the central core, continuing to inspire the competence of her companions and checks to see the progress.
Realizing she can make it into a room with a crystal, Ember darts forward and begins reciting a rousing story of overcoming great odds as she moves through the tower.
Ember apparently gets lost/sidetracked as the party enters the tower as she stares at the sky and contemplates the meaning of life and esoteric reasoning behind only four elements. Looking around to ask her companions' opinion she is startled to find herself alone. Buzzing into the tower she calls out. "Hello? Anyone here?" Hearing a commotion she flutters toward the sound only to she her new friends scrambling out of a room. "Oh dear...oh dear...oh dear! What is going on?! What have you all done?" She quickly follows after Rhyol.
I am sorry for my absence. Between starting a new job and being unable to log on or post anything of length had kept me away.
Ember pauses thinking about her possessions and says. "No, those are not for you, but I bet we do have some gifts for you!" Turning too Jamila and Zephyr, she says. "Right guys?!"
Ember flies straight up to avoid any debris, then with a barrel roll, speeds toward the astrolab. "Please, eh, excuse me. That is ours!"
Started a new job thus week and the learning curve has left me little time to post. Will have up tonight after work. Sorry for the slow posting.
Ember does looping barrel roll, then buzzes up the captain. " You won't regret it, Captain!" Alighting on the nearest rail, she grabs her journal and pen and begins scribbling furiously. "Captain, what is your full name? Where do you hail from? Oh! And when do we disembark?"
"Bbbut, Captain! Think of the fame! The fortune! All the recognition and standing you will have after we successfully complete this mission!" Ember pleads with the captain.
Ember buzzes toward the captain and performs a bow midair. "Completely understandable captain and I respect your position, which in turn makes you the best captain to take us! You have such a level head on your shoulders! Surely we can work something out in containing my magmatic friend, and just as surely you skills as captain should allows us to navigate any obstacles we encounter!"
Ember ponders the question as she takes the measure of the ships. Finally in a stage whisper she says. "I'd vote for Captain Shrivel. I like the look of that boat."
Ember frowns then buzzes forward and begins picking up fruit and placing back on the cloth. "Complete accident with no one at fault. Saw the whole thing from over there. Desna smile on us because now we all get to make each others' acquaintances. I'm Ember, Chronicler of the Planes! Good to meet you! Wonderful day today, no?"
Ember's wings buzz loudly as he circles the table. "Yes! Let us be on our way!"
Ember continues to buzz around the table, then rises quickly. "Oh, oh! I thought of a question, maybe two! Does the region we are going to have a name? Will we have to hire a captain....I mean will we need to pay them? Is there a spending allowance we will be given?"
Wings buzzing to the point of being merely a blur, Ember does a backward somersault midair, the exclaims. "Oh dear me, dear me. I am simply too excited about the prospect of adventure to think of any pertinent questions! Does anyone have any good questions?! Should we just be off to start our adventure!?"
A tiny dragon flutters and buzzes into the inn, following the party. At the table, the creature hovers midair, listening intently. "I will take a tiny ssssslice of pie, pleasssse!" She says.
"I am called Ember, and I am the Chronicler of the Planes, so if you could please speak clearly I would much appreciate it!"
Had unexpected company this weekend. Transposing all of Ember's stats this evening. |
