Edvard begins his morning quite early, as he often does, with a cup of earl grey and a book. The one he is currently invested in is titled "Readings in Linguistics: The Development of Descriptive Linguistics in America." When the hotel he is in receives their newspapers he transfers his attention to that for a moment where he finds the two articles. Though Edvard lost a fair bit of respect for the good Doctor during his final speech he still was a colleague so Edvard decides to head to his house and pay his respects.

"Julius, as you colleague and friend" Edvard begins in a much warmer tone "I simply wish to caution you that sometimes in our rasher days we may allow our own passion for our work to blind us to how the world may see it. Remember when we present work we are representing thousands of our fellows and often the world will judge us all on the work of only one." Spot Hidden (25/12/5): 1d100 ⇒ 23

"Interesting is a generous term for baseless speculation" Edvard says in a deadpan. "The speculations of myth are interesting to study but there is no reason to elevate that study to a senseless regurgitation of falsehood to the academic community and beyond." he finishes
As the seminar begins Edvard directs his attention to Prof. Smith he is able to conceal his distaste for the topic in his body fairly well but his eyes betrayed a sense of distrust. As Smith finishes his sermonizing Edvard murmurs under his breath "I thought we were here for a scholarly presentation not the ramblings of a lunatic"

"It's a pleasure to see you as well. Yes, the older houses around the city just started leaning over time from the high winds. Most modern ones won's suffer the same fate though! I haven't been back myself in almost," Edvard pauses a moment to think before continuing, "God, nearly 40 years. Some of the old ones I remember have probably fallen by now. I really should get back out there again soon." as the room fills Edvard grabs a few crackers and a bit of cheese, he'd never been a heavy eater and as his age began to wear him down what little apatite he had before had dwindled. However, his appetite for conversation had followed an opposite trajectory which he demonstrated in the incessant chatter he made conversating with each new guest as they arrived learning their area of specialization, noteworthy research and where they were based.

"Yes, grew up just north of Aalborg in the west. Of course Edvard is no problem usually my students either call me that or Dr. A." he says before they go to tour the halls
Edvard arrived to the lecture quite early to try to get to chatting with the other academics, always interested to learn more about any subject. by the time the dinner is getting ready to start he has been there for nearly 3 hours helping as best he can with set up and talking the ear off of whatever poor intern was nearby. When seating begins he sits near to the new acquaintances he met yesterday but not too close, keeping a person or so between himself and Montague.
Montague wrote:
"Enchanted Monty" Edvard responds taking in the hulking figure, he then continues "Edvard is fine as well, though I never mind the honorific." He then turns to Ynja and explains "An academic doctor, I'd never subject a patient to hands as sloppy as mine." he finishes with a chuckle "I study languages of all types." "Yes, Monty's right, we should at least humor the old man's passions" Edvard says sarcastically looking at Professor Smith who looks to be at least a decade his junior.
Archaeology 10/5/2: 1d100 ⇒ 65 As Edvard returns from his foray none the wiser on the photograph but interested none the less he shuffles back to Professor Smith and responds in a near perfect facsimile of a British accent "I wouldn't miss a lecture from the famed"he adds a touch of friendly pejorative spice to the word "J.R. Smith for the world. How have you been old man?" He then turns to the rest of the small crowd and addresses them as a whole but primarily to Ynja in french Je ne crois pas avoir rencontré Billie, ni aucun d'entre vous d'ailleurs. Mais tu n'as pas à t'inquiéter de problèmes, je suis sûr qu'elle peut se débrouiller seule:
I don't believe I've met Billie, or any of you for that matter. But you needn't worry about any issues, I'm sure she can handle herself he then stumbles over to Montague who completely dwarfs his hunched 5'2" figure and says "Doctor Edvard Asbjørnsen, how do you do?" as he transfers his cane to his left hand and reach his arm up for a handshake.
As the group are making pleasantries Dr. Asbjørnsen enters the room, in stark contrast to Montague Asbjørnsen is dwarfed by the scale of the doorway. He briskly hobbles through relying heavily on his cane. When he notices Prof. Smith he gives a nod to him and continues into the room at first in search of the Maudslay statues.

Sounds great, I'll update the sheet today!
This is Calabanian's first strike at a character! I don't love the icon for him but I think the crunch is good and I like the photo on the profile! I'm a touch worried cause he is fully incapable in combat, but I know that's not atypical in Call so hopefully it'll be alright! Also, GM, are there any languages I don't have that would be very beneficial and make sense? And rdknight I hope you don't mind that I took your formatting! |
