The ruined siege castles outside Absalom have long beckoned adventurers looking to make a name for themselves. Now an earthquake has cracked open one of these fabled ruins, and its lost mysteries and fantastic treasures lie exposed for the first time in centuries. But the tower's empty halls once more echo with living footfalls, and a new master has claimed the Fallen Fortress as his own. Can the PCs find a way to get inside its shattered walls? What ancient dangers and fresh threats will they encounter inside its crumbling chambers? And will the PCs be able to defeat the current Master of the Fallen Fortress?

SkålCon 2019 is moving locations! This year we’ll be at the Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West!

You may be familiar with this venue. It’s been the home of Con of the North for many years now, and we are excited to grow into this new space.

When: September 20-22, 2019

Where: The Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West!

How do i get in?! Register @SkalCon.org

As always we will donate proceeds to our favorite local charity: Tubman

This year’s group of Special Guests contains many of our local favorites, and is growing by the week!

Tonya Woldridge, Organized Play Manager – running retired scenario “Blood at Dralkard Manor” as well as Pathfinder Second Edition kickoff scenario “Origin of the Open Road”

Thurston Hillman, Developer for Starfinder Society – running his very own exclusive scenario “Into the Perplexity: The Second Trial”

Finally... Only Jon can truly wrap up an announcement like this:

Jon Dehning wrote:

I want to take a moment and thank everyone who has helped make our little con be such a success. I think how in the hell are we gonna do better than last con and Every Year y’all show me the spirit of giving is alive and well here. I’ve seen what our efforts do for Tubman and the people they help; knowing we make a difference in someone’s life makes all the work, all the late nights, all the cajoling (“Yer gonna come visit us this year, right?”), all the planning, and everything else involved with putting on a convention so worth it. I am humbled by everyone’s generosity. Truly, thank you so very much!

Lastly, as always...
Lets do this people!

Pathfinder Module: The young heroes of the town of Kassen are ready for their coming-of-age ceremony, an old tradition in which they retrieve a piece of the eternal flame burning in the tomb of the town's founder.

Yet when they arrive there, they find only the corpses of their fellow townsfolk, dead bandits, and mysterious animated skeletons. The novice heroes must brave the traps and perils of the Crypt of the Everflame, discover the source of the corruption that has awakened an ancient evil, and defeat a menace that seeks vengeance against Kassen and its people.

Running this last night, Jack Brown and I thought this was a pretty good scenario.

I would warn GMs - it does seem to expect a bit more improv with the interactions than normal - and there's some really important information not in the red text... such as the first paragraph of the conclusion...

Conclusion:

The red test starts with: Amenopheus catches his breath before walking over to wrap the thrown jewel in a thick cloth. “Unfortunately, this confirms my earlier theory......

but right before that... in black: When Amenopheus attempts to communicate with his ancient colleague’s memories within the sage jewel, it flares angrily, and he casts it across the room instinctively.

Like i said - a solid experience overall from my point of view. The Tier 4-5 DCs not being in every check location was different. I am not one to normally take a highlighter to my scenarios before running but this one i would next time.

Male Human (Minnesota) GM 4 The Disappeared Tactical Map,

This game is by invite only.

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–2.

More than 400 years have transpired since the Pathfinder Society began in a humble tavern that has quietly weathered the centuries without incident. When a routine errand there uncovers a clue left behind by one of the founding Pathfinders, it’s up to the PCs to solve a puzzle whose pieces are scattered across Absalom—and whose prize dates back to the Society’s darkest years.

"The Wounded Wisp" is an evergreen, replayable scenario designed to help introduce players to the history of the Pathfinder Society and Absalom’s greatest sites.

In Kaer Maga, the mysterious and dangerous cliffside City of Strangers in untamed Varisia, the Pathfinder Society will come face to face with a sect of the cult of Lissala who prey upon the city's most vulnerable denizens to increase their own power. To what end do they conduct the ancient Feast of Sigils ritual, and can the Pathfinders stop them before their evil plans come to fruition?

Male Human (Minnesota) GM 4 The Disappeared Tactical Map,

Game by Invite only.

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for level 1-2.
Almost all Pathfinders undergo extensive training for three or more years to learn the tricks of the trade, and their last test before graduating from the ranks of the initiates to the status of a full Pathfinder agent is the Confirmation, a special research project that involves considerable fieldwork and is designed to simulate the initiates' future work as a Pathfinder. Even the noteworthy field commissioned agents sometimes participate in such trials as a way to familiarize themselves with the Pathfinder Society’s rules and expectations. Although Confirmation is typically an individual affair, the society recently discovered a site on the Isle of Kortos that would be perfect for initiates but perhaps too dangerous to handle alone. Successfully uncovering this site’s secrets will not only contribute to the society’s body of knowledge but shape the exciting careers ahead for each of the prospective agents.

Male Human (Minnesota) GM 4 The Disappeared Tactical Map,

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1-5.

Less than a decade ago, the Pathfinder Society established a lodge in Nirmathas, an act that infuriated the nation's expansionist rival Molthune. The latter outlawed the Society soon after, and ever since Pathfinders have relied on smugglers like the Varisian entrepreneur Guaril Karela to slip supplies past the Molthuni blockade for both the lodge and the Society's war-torn neighbors. Something has intercepted those shipments. Can the PCs uncover the culprit and save the Society's reputation in Nirmathas?

Content in "Trouble in Tamran" also ties into a special metaplot element from Pathfinder Society Special #6–98: Serpents Rise. Players who have completed that special event are encouraged to bring its Chronicle sheet when playing this adventure.

I've been looking forward to this scenario for months, and was very pleased with how it turned out.

I love the amount of subtlety utilized, as well as the nature of the introductory scene. One component that may go overlooked by many is the simplicity in the scenario allowing for so much more role-play - loved it.

I suppose the only nit-picks are that the Bard has one too many 1st/2nd level spells per day as eagle's splendor is temporary. I wish the metamagic feat had been a little more useful such as Heighten Spell.

I look forward to GM'ing it thrice over the next week. Very well designed Ron Lundeen!

Followup question:

spoiler:
I know "The Spider" is directly referenced/appeared in S4-14: My Enemy’s Enemy and S2-24: Shadow’s Last Stand Part 2... am i missing any direct reference/appearance?

Nothing is more fun to me than having a highly ineffective near-maxed day job roll.

This led me on a mini-quest....

Now I dare anyone to find a better level one, zero experience character day job bonus than the +22 I have calculated as best possible. (And yes I am including boons and vc-protege)
