Darius removes his helm so that the ghoul can clearly see Darius's strong Chelaxian features. "Quite frankly, we're split on your fate. You claim to be a descendant of a once great house. The reigning Thrunes would end you if they knew who you were. The country folk we must pass on our return trip would end you regardless. We must weigh that risk of attention, against the value of what knowledge you possess." "I do happen to work for someone, however, that might find you... Intriguing." Diplomacy to recruit him to the Dark Archive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18 Lmao!!

Take 10 on Kn.(local), get 10. "Yes, it is a troll. I suppose if you grew up in the city, you may never have seen one before. They're generally considered vermin by most country folk." Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 "I don't believe its immediate thought would be to eat us. Probably just to flee and recover from this ordeal elsewhere. It may have been trapped here for some time."

"The leshies above us complained about being hunted. I believe this may be what they feared. Humorous that a ghoul was clever enough to think of such a plot." Since I've played and GMed this, I'll leave the decision up to those who haven't; if we've all played this, Darius would vote to burn it for the good of the country.

I have Woodland Stride, if it helps. Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Darius can also report the contents of the Spellbook after he casts Read Magic.

Druidic:
"My companions do not speak the language of your creators, so to demonstrate my good will I will translate between our two groups." Darius will translate. Druidic:
"The Thrunes are... protective. If you don't cause them trouble, then they won't cause you harm. They do not know you are hear, and we have no reason to tell them, if that is what you wish."
"But we are not Thrunes. We are Pathfinders. We explore hidden places for knowledge, and allies. If this hidden place is your home, perhaps we have found both?" If it looks like the garden could use it, Darius will cast Create Water to show he is "nice".

Darius freezes midstep.
Druidic:
"Apologies if we startled you. This land is owned by people called the "Thrunes". They have given us permission to explore here for lost secrets."
"Do you speak Taldane? The language of men?
"This ruin is... Occupied. They ask for us to lower our weapons." Which Darius does, sheathing his Longsword against his side. Kn.(nature) to identify: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Darius patrols the perimeter on horseback... Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 ...and, assuming everything looks clear, dismounts from Ariaan. "I don't think a crumbling ruin is going to be good for your ankles," Darius says to Ariaan while brushing his snout, "Stay here and enjoy some oats instead." Darius empties the contents of one of Ariaan's feedbags against the southeast wall before leaving the horse to his lunch (Spend 1 minute to Take 20 to push him to Stay). He then arms his Longsword and Shield and proceeds inside. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Since Ariaan is outside it's unlikely Darius will be able to Stealth away, so he'll remain in the shack while the group escorts Mirielle to safety. Darius kneels next to the canine and gently rubs behind his ear while whispering, "Alright old boy, let's see if you can't help out here." Handle Animal to make the dog growl and bark at the door: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 "When Asmodeus beckons the citizens listen! Will be right there soon as we tie this beast up!"

Lybram Tendras wrote: "Darius, this seems to be like your back yard. Are you from this area originally?" "Anybody on a schedule passes through Corentyn if their destination is southern Cheliax. I did not grow up here, but I do know of a deli that we'll have to visit," he chuckles. "My last expedition was north of here, actually. I managed a small team that ultimately uncovered this suit of armor," he says as he thumps the chest piece of his fullplate. "Corentyn sees a lot of travelers through those arches."

Darius, without hesitation, begins unstrapping his arsenal. "You'll find my Lance secured with my steed, unless you would allow me to entertain myself with some of the local jousting scene." He then pulls out a golden unholy symbol of Asmodeus. "I trust I can hold on to this? I will of course record my name. House Leroung. I should already be on the registry." Darius still wears his heavy gauntlets.

Darius will purchase 5 days feed for Ariaan (2 sp, 5 cp). While on the ship, Darius conducts himself more as a military man, setting up a routine watch and patrol. He begins every morning by brushing down Ariaan and performing a ritual prayer to Asmodeus. During conversations he prefers to talk about his homeland and speaks highly of Chelish culture and military traditions. You get the sense that he errs on the side of justice and honor. When the inevitable conversation comes up regarding Hellknights, Darius is clear that, although he was never accepted as a member of any order, he certainly grew up seeing their lawful guidance as a strength of Cheliax, and not a hindrance. "I prefer to remain astride Ariaan while traveling over country. Jousting was a popular sport growing up, and the Lance is my preferred weapon. When we inevitably reach more cramped quarters I can rely on my sword. Asmodeus has blessed me with some minor magical talents, but they are not my strength."

A well groomed Chelaxian man enters the room, holding a riding crop and a pair of deerskin gloves in one hand. With his other, he wipes a bit of sweat off his brow. His clothes match recent trends in Chelish fashion, with the addition of a pair of deerskin riding boots that match his gloves. "Cheliax isn't quite the dry comfort of Hell," he chuckles, "but some call it 'home'." He nods to the assembled group. "Darius, of House Leroung. My family has worked with the Thrunes over the generations and used their finances to fund numerous scholarly expeditions..." Kn.Local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"...House Davian, on the other hand, challenged Thrune for control of Cheliax at the Battle of a Hundred Kings. It devastated Corentyn." "The house’s holdings included much of the nation’s west coast. Thrune retaliated by utterly crushing the Davians. Numerous revisions of Cheliax’s official history have downplayed the Davians’ role during the civil war, such that many don’t even remember the Davian name, much less that the great house almost defeated Thrune." "When I heard tale of this expedition I requested a seat immediately! How often is it you can use your career to find out about the history of your homeland?" He smiles, but there's just something about his mannerisms that's unsettling. "This should be glorious, yes?"

Ummm. So. Lol. Turns out this character has credit for Part 2. Of all things! Looking over his Chronicle history I remember now that I Pregen'd Part 2 when the trilogy was offered locally but there weren't enough players to make a legal table. So if you're fine with me just doing Parts 1 & 3, then awesome. If not, I could technically burn a GM Star and play another character for Part 2 in order to still have all three Chronicles on this character. Or I can step aside and let someone else play all three. Keeping in mind that I have played and GM'd all three in Classic Mode. I am fine with whatever you decide ^_^
