Though it seems less important in PF2, I like to set book-based casters an opportunity to share spells. Please sign up on the recruitment thread for Gameday VIII. Then reply to one of the next two posts (since 1 thread is for both games).
Enjoy!

I will also accept one or two non-casters just to keep the party alive and wish to play with as full a table as possible.

Greetings all. :)

This will be the discussion thread for my next PbP. We had one request for 'season 5 Worldwound stuff' and another for 1-5 tiers. Our first step is to decide what to play. Hopefully you are on Session Tracker, so please say so and if you have a request for scenario you can post that as well.

If you followed the link I provided please post below & list other characters if the one you post with is flexible. (this may change depending on what scenario we decide upon.
If this thread is one you simply happened across, feel free to post, but realize you are on the wait list at best. :)

Players please ninja dot this thread.

Scars of the Third Crusade (5-22)
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.

The fiery inquisitions that raged through Mendev during the Third Mendevian Crusade may have been damped but never truly extinguished. Fanatics have reignited the witch-hunts in eastern Mendev, and in doing so they have captured and accused allies of the Pathfinder Society. Unless the PCs intercede and put a stop to this mob justice, their allies' deaths will spark a new wave of internecine executions throughout the crusader nation.

    Hao Jin Heirophant (10-11)
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5-9.

Seven years ago, the Pathfinder Society acquired the Hao Jin Tapestry, a powerful artifact and gateway to a wondrous yet slowly disintegrating museum-like demiplane. Despite the sacrifices made to preserve the Hao-Jin Tapestry by one of the Pathfinder Society's most influential members, the realm's collapse seems inevitable. The Society has dispatched teams to high-value sites to salvage what they can of the historical treasures and knowledge, and the PCs are one of these first groups. However, their study of an ancient Tian site becomes far more complex thanks to not one but two burgeoning religions. It's up to the PCs to navigate this landscape riddled with hazards both extraplanar and political.

    Thanks for joining my table!

Please list the following as you dot in. No need to repeat the line itself, just fill in your information. If the information is in a single line, I can cut and paste this quickly when creating chronicles,

Similarly, please wait to make a second post until everyone has had a chance to check in. You can make the post as long as you like, but is much easier if the first few posts are only the ones I need to search for chronicles. :)

This game is to begin August 13 as it is a part of Gameday VII. I started something last year that I hope to make a Gameday tradition. I had had a wizard at a PaizoCon table with my wizard who didn't wish to share spells (because he had been burned in the past). I was a little shocked, and didn't think it felt like the Explore, Report, and specifically COOPERATE I had previously experienced in PFS. So we are going to set up a game especially for those PCs who would like to share spells. So....

I am recruiting an entire group of book-casters! Wizards, arcanists, and magi.

To throw the net to its widest, I have chosen the evergreen scenario Beyond the Halflight Path and will run it twice.

Please sign up with character class and level. The first 12 will be split by tier into two tables and the next three folks will be on reserve.

Since this doesn't start for over a month, I have a few suggestions.

  • Play one more game in that month.
  • Purchase a couple of spells.
  • Purchase a scroll or wand to prevent running out of combat effectiveness.
  • If you can afford a blessed book consider purchasing it as well.
  • Whether through leveling or purchase, choose a spell that IS CRB.
  • Whether through leveling or purchase, choose a spell that IS NOT in the CRB.
  • Maximize Spellcraft ranks so you can take 10.
  • Do not panic if I ignore this thread until we are closer to Gameday (August 1).
  • Alchemists, shamans, witches are one-way on trading spells, but with a huge con like PbP Gameday, you can probably create your own scenario. :)

The city of Padiskar near the northern tip of the Isle of Jalmeray is not so much a city as a ring of small villages surrounding a massive, howling ruin, from which terrifying screams of whatever the Vudrani Maharaja Khiben-Sald left there in ancient times can still be heard. Outside Absalom, the mighty City a the Center of the World, lies the treacherous Cairnlands. Countless ruins of failed conquerors litter the plains outside the city's walls and many have longed to explore them.

Rumors say that one of the sealed siege castles has been laid open by a minor earthquake. Word on the street is that no one has yet entered the tower, which folks are calling the "Fallen Fortress." What better way to start a life of excitement and adventure than by exploring its long-abandoned, dusty halls and perhaps claiming its ancient treasures?

    KN (local) DC 11:
The description of the place is enough to find its location. It is only a journey of a few hours from the city's walls to where the fallen Fortress lies open for exploration.

Welcome and thank you for giving me a chance to conduct an experiment I have wanted to try for a very long time.

    1. Please dot in so I can clarify who is coming (Name & class).
    2. Please choose: Confirmation or Master's of the Fallen Fortress. The latter is a bit more dungeon crawl, though whether that makes it better or worse for a conclave of bookish casters I can't say.
    3. Please make sure your spellbook is in your profile. (I will post my wizard for an example).
    4. If you can take advantage of the 1st level rebuild rules, please do so to rechoose your starting spells. I recommend choosing at least one CRB spell and at least one spell from another sourcebook. If everyone chooses color spray, magic missile, burning hands shocking grasp, we will have very little chance to actually trade spells. FTR I try to choose an obscure splat book for a spell when I get to choose spells and one from the CRB for this very reason.
    5. I will post my PbP expectations a little later, but I think most of them are in my GM profile.
EDIT: 6. I don't want to tell someone how to build their character, but please make sure you can learn spells (have high enough Spellcraft skill & DayJob).

    A part of Gameday VI.

It says wizards, but magus, arcanists, and even the random spell-book carrying rogue are welcome as well.

I would like to collect a number of spellbook casters together for a scenario. Spellbooks are hard enough to come by in a scenario, but when a group of Pathfinders get together, copying new spells can be quite affordable. After a recent bad experience with a spellcaster, I want to encourage this kind of cooperation among Pathfinders.

Ostensibly I am listing Sanos Abduction, but we will find the scenario that works the best for the most people. Potentially a collection of arcane casters will be unbalanced and I may base scenario choice to accommodate. I may run more than one if the numbers work out. I hope to have a mix of levels, too many low level wizards and there will not be enough new spells, too many high-level wizards and there will not be enough gold.

We will start a bit later than the 25th of August, just to get passed the rush, so if your wizard is committed elsewhere for the beginning of Gameday VI, we can still try and accommodate you. There will be a big break Mid-September, when my computer access will be limited. Otherwise, near-daily posting is expected.

Sound good? Please list your caster(s) by name, class level (including school if there is one), PFS number, and whether or not you are listed on PFS Sessiontracker.

As the door opens to Venture-Captain Esmayl ibn Qaradi’s office, he sits behind an imposing desk and concludes an elegantly penned letter with a flourish of calligraphy. He smiles, stands, and spreads his arms in welcome. “Welcome, my guests and colleagues. Let my family’s hospitality be your pleasure in this time we have together.” He fans the wet ink on the letter before setting it aside and taking a seat.

Thank you for giving me a second chance. I will do a much better job this time around. :)

    Several questions to start.

    1. Are you on the PFS Session Tracker? If so please post your ID number.
    2. What CHARACTER & TIER do you want to play? If you have multiple please list your FIRST choice and then (and only then) list other tiers as available. We can do the fine art of character soduko after we narrow the scenario choices a bit.
    3. (optional) Do you have a specific scenario you want to play? Do you have a specific faction you want to play? Season?

Please limit replies to these questions for the first little bit. I expect it to be a week before we begin play, some folks may be unavailable due to the season so we will work around that.
This may not show up in your campaigns thread even if you have dotted in. I have not created a campaign thread yet, but you will know for sure as soon as you dot in.

This letter reached the Pathfinders not long ago.

    Esteemed Pathfinders,

I trust this letter reaches you without incident. I remain in Kenabres, assessing the damage dealt by the demonic offensive that struck all along Mendev’s western border. Although the city is devastated, the fiends lost momentum and failed to maintain their advantage, and several particularly brave crusaders have rallied the scattered forces for a counterattack.

Since the siege of Nerosyan, I have mulled over a most troubling discovery. I received reports from Pathfinders involved in the siege implicating Thurl, Nerosyan’s other venture-captain, of knowing that the
demons would attack and when. What little evidence I have goes so far as to suggest that Thurl assisted the demons in planning the assault against us.

Following the attack, I sent several Pathfinders to investigate Thurl’s lodge, and though the ground floor was bare of any further incriminating evidence, the lower level were inaccessible. Thurl left many magical wards to keep out intruders, and until we could investigate further and confirm whether or not my dwarven colleague had engaged in dire mischief, the Decemvirate has ordered that I not publicize my suspicions. I received word only an hour ago that those wards appear to have faded.

I have kept you at Starrise Spire not for mundane guard duty but because I can trust you to finish the investigation of Thurl’s lodge. Go there, enter its basement, and find what evidence you can that implicates Thurl in activities against the Society. Once you have explored his lodge thoroughly, report back to Starrise Spire and await my return.

The Pathfinder Society must know for certain whether Thurl has betrayed us and to what extent our trek to Jormurdun—to say nothing of the Mendevian Crusade—has been compromised. Our efforts shall mean nothing if sabotaged by a traitor, and the sooner we know, the less damage he can inflict.

    Inheritor guide your hand,
    Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury

This scenario assumes you were present at the Seige of the Diamond City (end of season 4 interactive scenario 5.??). I need to know if anyone has a chronicle for this particular adventure. I am likely to only be lurking tomorrow and the next day, jump in and ask questions, introduce yourself and the like. :)

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7.

During the recent attack on Nerosyan, Pathfinders sought out a local venture-captain to aid in the city’s defense. What they found instead suggested the leader had not only fled recently but had played a part in the demons’ offensive. Venture-Captain Jorsal has determined that the safety and integrity of the Pathfinder Society requires that a team delve into the sealed basement beneath the abandoned lodge to determine what other plans his turncoat colleague may have set in motion.

Real Name (Paizo avatar is OK), PFS Number, Faction (which will show up if you have it set on your Avatar.)
Please put perception and AC plus anything else I might have to look up frequently into the sex/race slots of the character's profile (see Seaweed for an example). If you have a T-shirt or folio free reroll please say so and where you are most likely to use it (example: "Reflex save when d20 is below 10"). This is only because PbP means a lot of quiet time between a roll and a response compared to a table-top game. I want to keep the game moving, but do not want to push through someone's choices.

In order to keep things moving I may occasionally take an action for your character. Define your characters default attack option. Then also make an attack of opportunity for me. I would rather not wait two days to complete a single action.

If you are OK with me making the Perception and initiative checks I will. If not, give me three of each & I will use them in the order you rolled them as needed.

This should be set up for a reply to make it easier for you (deleting everything above). Make sure to add the appropriate modifier and the final closed bracket (])to the die rolls.

    RL name:
    PFS number:
Faction: (should flood in, but just in case)
    Re-Roll: Y/N

    Typical combat action:
    Day Job:

    Silver ! Gold

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5–9.

A Pathfinder expedition has uncovered hitherto unknown levels in the Red Redoubt, a millennium-old siege fortress created by the machine-mage Karamoss. A source of Numerian technology in its own backyard piques the Society’s interest, yet informants in the redoubt speak of an aggressive contingent deep below that aims to reactivate Karamoss’s powerful forges. Can the PCs salvage the fortress’s treasure while also preventing a catastrophe that could crush Absalom?

Please take a look at the rules for Mass Combat. There are some other things I can show you and there are a few changes, but with PbP we have the time.

Please introduce yourselves to each other and me. What we see and who you are for example.

A blast of cold wind—the biting chill of the Realm of the Mammoth Lords— rushes into the tent, ruffling scattered papers but not Marcos Farabellus. The Pathfinder Society’s Master of Swords stares intently at a map of the western Worldwound, eyeing wooden playing pieces placed at strategic locations.

“Quite a party we’ve started up here. Did you know they’re calling all this ruckus the Army of the Open Road?” Farabellus asks, never raising his eyes from the map laid out before him. “Well, now it looks like this army is finally ready to move on Jormurdun, the lost Sky Citadel of the dwarves.” He motions to a spot at the far end of the map.

“In case you hadn’t heard, I’ve been appointed warmaster of this growing army of ours. The Decemvirate has politely asked me to knock on Jormurdun’s door and see who answers. The problem is, the walk there is going to take weeks and we know there’re some unwelcome residents already in the region.”

Farabellus points to a group of crimson-stained wooden tokens at the north-western edge of the Worldwound that stand opposed to the tokens of the Society’s forces. “It looks like the Society’s latest adversaries, that deceitful cur Tancred Desimire and the two-faced former Venture-Captain Thurl, have assembled an expedition of their own—and positioned it right in our path.”

Slamming his fist down in a sudden movement that cracks the table, Farabellus sends wooden pieces flying about the tent’s interior. “I’m done with these two meddlers. The demonologist and the traitor are to be brought to justice. But first, we must reach Jormurdun before they do. To that end, I need your assistance in rallying our armies and getting us to the entrance of the Sky Citadel. All our senior agents are out in the field tracking Tancred and Thurl, so I’m promoting you to act as field commanders for the battles ahead. Our allies are waiting to meet with us. Any questions?”

The Pathfinder Society embarks on its expedition to the lost Sky Citadel Jormurdun with a small army of allies in tow, but they are not the only ones seeking the dwarven fortress. Two of the Society’s nemeses have rallied the fiends of Frostmire to crush the Pathfinders, hoping to buy the villains enough time to secure Jormurdun first. If the campaign is to succeed, the Society’s forces will need bold leadership. Can the PCs lead their motley army to victory deep in the Worldwound?

Content in “Assault on the Wound” also contributes directly to the ongoing storylines of the Silver Crusade and Taldor factions.

Characters can benefit from numerous boons earned during other Season 5 scenarios, so players are advised to bring other earned Season 5 Chronicle sheets to the event—even if those Chronicle sheets are assigned to other characters.

...Previous Top 32 can you name?

Without peeking, spoiler a list of what you remember from years past.

After reading Jacob's blog I started thinking about 'superstar items,' I began trying to see how many Top 32 items struck me well enough to still be with me. Those of course are my favorites.

No peaking! Just list what you can remember. For an added challenge finish your list in 59 seconds. :) As a hint there are over 230 Top 32.

This is should be set up for a reply, but remember to add that last closed bracket.

OK I need a handful of things from y'all.

Please put perception and AC plus anything else I might have to look up frequently into the sex/race slots of the character's profile (see Seaweed for an example). I will do the same for the map. Please note Seeker's Folly is for a different scenario and is laden with spoilers.

Define your characters default attack option (for when I need to DMPC).

A handful of dice for later when timing is an issue. These may or may not be used. Be sure to include any special circumstances (sleep immunity, loyalty trait for example). Again these are so I can move things along.

Venture-Captain Amara Li summons the party to the Lantern Lodge in Goka, where they’re ushered into a meeting room adjacent to the lodge’s well-stocked library.

    PbP Gameday 3

    PFS #4-16 Fabric of Reality
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5–9.

For the past year, the Pathfinder Society has used the isolated demiplane contained in the Hao Jin Tapestry as a private adventuring realm and, since discovering a backdoor out of the demiplane, as a shortcut from the tapestry's location to a hidden corner of Varisia. But the tapestry wasn't designed for this purpose, and travel from Absalom to Varisia could be more efficient. Now a team of Pathfinders must discover how the infamous sorcerer known as the Ruby Phoenix created her private demiplane and enter the heart of the tapestry and alter the very nature of the magical realm.

Players must commit to daily posts. This will happen over the holidays so I know there will be some periods of quiet. Likewise I am away from the 'puter one day a week (for sanity reasons), but in general want regular posts.

Preference will be given to folks who have less access to other cons. Please let me know why this might be you. This is not a requirement, so if you are interested please post.

Players must not have played this scenario for credit and must have legal PFS characters seeking PFS credit. Pregen's are an option, but only if you do not have a character in tier. Remember you cannae play this character in any other game during the duration of this PbP.

Players should also list their character/s's levels.

I use google docs for map & chronicle, just FYI.

    PbP Gameday 3

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7.

The Pathfinders are sent to the Sanos Forest in central Varisia to assist an agent researching the fey who inhabit the remote wood. But like many seemingly routine tasks in a Pathfinder's adventuring career, the simple support mission quickly turns into an adventure the PCs aren't soon to forget—presuming they survive.
