I am a GOD here!!!

5/5

Received this as part of the Worlds of Cypher kickstarter. I've been extremely pleased with the Cypher system. It's an easy system, and character creation is a lot of fun as you pick from four characters (warrior, explorer, speaker and adept), an adjective to describe your character, and a verb which describes what you do, or your focus.

Gods of the Fall brings a different genre to the game than Numenera and The Strange have previously; the opportunity to play a fledgeling god. The old gods have died, and their power now infuses the mortals of the world. As you explore your divine power and explore the world following the Godsfall you can choose to pursue the enactment of the Seven Prophecies in order to ascend to your positions as the new gods of the world, and restore some of the hope lost with the fall of the old ones.

It should be noted that the Cypher System Rulebook is a requirement for this sourcebook. The character classes and benefits from type, descriptor and focus are not repeated in this book as they are in Numenera and The Strange. However there are six new descriptors, 2 new ratial descriptors, and four new foci. It also brings in details such as your divine domain, and a series of Labors you must perform as a god-cub in order to progress along your path of ascension.

The book follows the standard layout present in MCG's other publications; Numenera, The Strange, the Cypher System Rulebook. Marginalia references make tracking things easy. There are, as always, Creatures and NPC's, and as this is built on the standard Cypher System, these creatures are easily transportable into your Numenera, The Strange or whatever othe rgenre of Cypher game you desire. There is also a short startig adventure entitled The Rite of Spring to start your god-cubs out on their path.

All this wrapped up with some beautiful artwork. I am looking forward to playing this with my tabletop group VERY soon.

Player Perspective - AWESOME

5/5

This scenario is right up my alley. I love strategy, and that was really needed in this scenario. Lots of combat for those who like that, but if you don't play the strategic part right, your combat is going to be MUCH more difficult. The final boss was simply awesome.

GM Perspective - Excellent

As a GM, I loved this scenario. Lots of roleplaying! Intrigue! And a slowly revealed underplot! Another great investigatory scenario.

If you like investigation and roleplay, this is a great scenario.

If you like nothing but combat, you will hate this scenario.

GM Perspective - Meh

3/5

While this is not a horrible scenario, this also isn't a great scenario. It is, quite simply, one long running combat. While the environment is neat and I would love more information, not a lot was given. Yes, the big question of "What are these guys doing here?" arises, but as part of the metastory for this season, and all will be revealed.

If you like combat, you will like this.

Totally enjoyable, fun, sneaky romp!

I ran this scenario earlier this year. I thoroughly loved the style of it. I will say, this is not a hack and slash adventure! This is espionage at it's best! Yes there is fighting, but not a lot. Lots or role-playing opportunities. Lots of use of skills which don't normally come into play.

If you like to fight and that is all, this scenario may not be the best for you.

Player Perspective - Fun but Slightly Annoying

4/5

For the most part I enjoyed this scenario. I thought it had good flavor, and felt a sense of urgency to complete in time. It seemed like there were a couple combats that were just designed to suck up resources. Even though we avoided two! Enjoyed the fae aspect of things.

Player Perspective - Short but Sweet

4/5

This scenario seemed very short, but I believe that was because we were a very diplomatic group and talked our way around two situations. The final combat seemed simpler than it should have been, but the environment was interesting. Lots of chance for roleplay here, and the roleplay gets you somewhere. High accords for that!

Player Perspective - Eh.

"All Aboard!"

That means it's a railroad. That said... the location is neat...highest mountain in the world, but other than some writing in Tian, wasn't screaming "THIS IS TIAN XIA!" The environmental dangers were pretty brutal. Apart from the boss combat, the encounters were pretty easy. Boss combat could be brutal if not played wisely.

Good Roleplaying, Good Thinking, OK combats

4/5

I ran this scenario for the Pathfinder Society over on Mythweavers. There is a lot of legwork and roleplaying in this scenario, which I, as a GM like, and the players who went through it under me also enjoyed. Faction missions are easily accomplishable. Combats were OK. I almost had a TPK with the last combat at Subtier 1-2.
