Haven't had this happen in a while, but it just did:

Manager worked 2nd shift last night. A guest told him that they were leaving early this morning, and asked if the coffee would be ready by 5. Manager said yes, and told me to make sure it was ready. (I usually start making the coffee at around 4, so 5 is not an issue.) I had just started the first pot of coffee when a guest comes down and gets mad that there isn't any ready. He said "I spoke to the manager last night and he promised me that the coffee would be ready by 5!" I replied "Yes, he told me that. But it is only 4:15." His response? "I'm from Ohio! I live on Eastern time, and it's 5:15 there!" I could only shrug and say "Sorry, but we're on Central time, not Eastern. If you wait 10 minutes it will be ready." He didn't want to wait, said he would be late if he didn't leave immediately, and stormed off promising to never stay here again. It ain't my fault if you are on the wrong time zone for where you are.

I know. When will everyone who doesn't live here realize they are wrong?

What?! I'm sorry I can't hear you in my hot tub surrounded by snow drifts with a milkmaid cozying up next to me.

As a Midwesterner, stay safe at home, get some hot cocoa and a sled and live it up while you have it!

And for perspective, we're supposed to get upwards of a foot of snow in the next week, so at least you aren't here. :-)

Hey, so are we! We can be ice buddies!

40 degrees outside!!! And sunny!!!

4 people marked this as a favorite.

It's currently 7 degrees outside, which makes us 241 degrees warmer than Jupiter.

An ideal winter for me would be 1-3 inches of snow every two to three days with an occasional 6-12 inch storm for excitement, up until mid March and then it can all melt away until November.

Enjoy your blizzard Freehold, you earned it!.

gets out S'mores.

I'll say!

Currently about a quarter inch of ice coating everything.

I will not be playing bumper cars today.

I will however go out to slide around everywhere on foot. :-)

That inch (of snow) on Sunday has now grown to be 1-2 inches (of snow) with more snow forecast for Wednesday. :-)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

80% chance of an inch (of snow) on Sunday.

Just gotta move the five hundred pound bird bath and the backyard will be ready for sledding. :-)

Now I get to go find the tree stand that gets left out in the yard all spring, summer, and fall before the snow hits this afternoon.

And then go get a disc sled for the kids.

Winter is almost here!!!

XD

No, winter is here (we had snow yesterday morning)

Not complaining, that's for sure, at least it waited until almost thanksgiving this year, last year it was on Halloween.

That extra three weeks helps. :-)

Sweet!

I like winter, owning a snowmobile would only ruin that.

It was a nice respite, but yes a bit colder in winter is preferred.

Despite all my complaining in March winter is alright.

As long as it's relatively mild (above zero) has lots of snow, and it wraps by the beginning of April.

I purpose everyone living on the west coast has to spend five days in the rockies, midwest or northeast getting up every morning and going to work.

Whatever perspective they get from such an experience is completely secondary to the hilarity of watching them try to adapt. :-)

I remember our first winter in Seattle, it was 50 degrees in December which was damn near tropical for us, and we're waiting at a bus stop in shorts and and t-shirts waiting to go downtown to see Lord of the Rings and everyone else is in jackets and b*@*#ing about how cold they are, and I ask a lady "is it always this warm in winter" and she gave me a look and said "you're not from around here, are you..."

It's really nice outside today, yet if I enjoy it, that'll just make the deep freeze coming in behind it, all that much worse.

I'm going to anyway.

You never even notice if it's cold.

THE GREATEST THING EVER!!!!

Gonna respectfully disagree. Naked women continue to be listed among the category "thing" of which to be greatest. Can't believe greater.

Have men fought wars and lied and said they like crappy romantic comedies for the remote possibility of maybe seeing thunder snow? Has friend battled friend over thunder snow? Is their a multibillion dollar industry devoted to the exploitation and filming of thunder snow?

I think not.

In the north, you can have both, have you never shagged in the snow.

It's a lot more fun then you may think.

Yay!

A warm up, with a possible blizzard to follow, the monotony of the deep freeze is over.

For now...

The winter mix turned all snow, should get a few inches out of it, the walk to the store later for coffee and toilet paper shall be glorious indeed. :-)

Supposedly, we're going to get hit with a collage of winter weather, rain, sleet, ice, all culminating in an overnight 1-2 inches of snow.

Should be fun. :-)

My wife gets a lot of crap when the weather turns as well, she has rightly assumed they're just pissed because she walks to work. :-)

A wintery mix on tap for today, snow, sleet, and ice, which sounds delightful.

About time we get some action. :-)

I love a good blizzard.

And I have 20 pounds of padding on, the only part of me visible are my eyes.

I don't get cold.

The nice thing about snow is, it makes night brighter, and everything is quieter, more still.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well it got up to a sweltering 52 today with 58 a distinct possibility for early next week, which is about double of what it usually is this time of year, so no complaints here, and a month and half from now when we'll be lucky if it climbs above zero, I'll remember this day wistfully, through a frosted, but rose colored window.

Only if you don't wear 6+ layers, I'm almost never cold when I go outside.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Unrelated, I swear! We're now expecting 5-9 inches (of snow) and a snow emergency has been declared!

Should be fun, and I get to winterize the yard. :-)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Leading up to winter, not a fan.

January onwards I despise it (if it's really cold and desolate, if it's mild and varied, yay!)

Late November until January is epic!

Especially, the first couple snowfalls, and large storms, driving is entirely optional for us as everything including work is close by.

I also hate winter in March and April, when it should be done already!

Like I said, it's complicated.

Arizona is dry.

You don't know horrifying until you've experienced the humidity here. You need a shower by the time you make it to your car.

This is not an exaggeration.

Still, yeah, I don't want to trade our summer for your winter.

I like to keep busy in the winter, the year we had 128 inches of snow was one of the best winters I had. And I made so much money!

Captain Yesterday fun fact: up until last winter, I've run a shoveling crew for 12 years before that.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Yes, thankfully if I want to make my voodoo snowman I either need to start mooching freezer scrapping off the neighbors, or make a trip up north to the family farm... hmm, I wonder if Ice Cubes will work...

Me too. 4pm to midnight all week.

ouch! That's a rough shift, I'm just 5:30-9:30 soon tho the hours, snow and a+!@*%~s will come, also I'm seriously thinking of shoveling again this winter, I had last winter off but I miss it, nothing beats bossing around a bunch of college kids at 2 in the morning in blowing snow.

Ah, good times!
