So, we have a ghoran mechanic in our AP.

He wanted to take the 'bud drone' feature, and I said, cool, and he's got a plant, rather than aberration drone. Here's the unaltered benefit text for the feat:

"Your drone has living components. You can use Medicine instead of Engineering to repair it, and your drone naturally heals to full Hit Points when you rest for 8 hours. A drone modified in this way is considered an aberration rather than a construct for the purpose of spells and effects targeting it. In addition, Life Science and Medicine become class skills for you."

Last session, in the thick of combat the drone goes down. He wanted to use a Mk 1 healing serum to bring it back up... I said "No" because it's still a construct, and healing serums don't work on constructs.

But... is the healing serum causing an "effect" ?

If not... since the drone a construct which is considered a plant, "mend" shouldn't work on it. So... how else would you fix the drone during combat?

Thoughts from the table?

So... we are in the back half of ATTACK! and have concluded THREEFOLD. I am looking at what to do next, and I was looking at running DEVASTATION ARK where our crew could select PCs from either of the prior APs (or create new ones). I played in a high-level Starfinder AP years back (we TPK'd at level 15) and it was a lot of fun, and I would like to have my players revisit their old THREEFOLD PCs.

But... I'd really like to run an AP with some solid, recurring NPCs. Preferably like a homebase location? Where we aren't jumping from one planet to another without ever looking back.

Does Devastation fit this requirement?

So we were running a combat, and the party's intrepid technomancer got himself grappled by a horrific flying fungus monster.

Things were looking pretty bad when he used FLASH TELEPORT to escape the creature's clutches.

As the DM, reading that the magic hack didn't provoke an AOO, and going with Rule-of-Cool, I let him teleport and escape the monster.

Thoughts on if this was, strictly speaking, by the book?

I think I ordered the last set! These look great and I'm going to use them tonight.

Just bought it on the DriveThruRPG sale, and wondering what people thought of it?

So I'm starting a new campaign, and I really like some of the features which Astral has to offer.

Has anyone else used the platform?

so... I think that I am going to propose to my group - should they decide to do a Pathfinder AP next year - that I GM Tyrant's Grasp. I've read through the AP, really like it, and think I could do a good job with it.

The one thing that really bothers me is the inclusion of:

Spoiler:
Arazni, which I think is kinda peripheral to the plot, and kinda just complicates things.

So... I was just going to remove her stuff entirely. She doesn't show up, she doesn't steal the items from Lastwall, she doesn't explode.

Instead, I think I'll just have one of the Empyreal lords, or an angel or something, gift the PCs the key artifacts in book 4, and have a host of angels arrive to fight the Whispering Tyrant, and as is described in the back matter of book 4, just have Barzhak throw the PCs to Arcadia.

I dunno, but thoughts?

So... and I'm sure I'm missing something, but didn't 'Divination' magic work prior to the death of Aroden?

So... wouldn't there have been an 8th School of Magic, and thus, possibly, an 8th School of Sin Magic... and thus an 8th Runelord?

Are we missing something fun?

A cursory look for an '8th Deadly Sin' came up with 2 popular options: cowardice and despair. I think Cowardice is the better option, but Despair is arguably the better fit for 'Divination'

Thoughts? Is this just silly and already ruled out?

From the description it seems like just a worse version of Fear. Am I missing something?

Found this great Actual Play podcast of Carrion Crown:

https://hideouslaughterpodcast.podbean.com

the Hideous Laughter podcast, is so far, I'm on episode 4, a really good actual play. Sound quality is good, rules so far (only one fight) are pretty well adhered to, and they started off the funeral the way that it should be done.

Just for awareness.

Figured I'd start a thread on the patreon-supporter only play through the good folks at the GCP are doing.

I'm really liking the idea of swapping out players as they become available. Dunno how it'll work in some of the later books, but man, it definitely is going to be a source of friction between some of the characters.

Question: I purchased the Starfinder Core Rulebook (it's shipped) but I've decided I want to subscribe to the line today.

If I subscribe now, it looks like I'm still getting charged the full price for a new hardcover, but I don't need a second hardcover, just the pdf.

So... can I subscribe, get just the pdf, and not buy a second hardcover?

Thanks,

YAKMAN

is this an homage to a JLA or X-Men cover?

it seems like it might be, but I just can't place it.

Just gotta say that this is one of my favorite characters in the AP - and she's just in it to get lit up!

That being said, I like the idea of weird eastern snake people cults of Asmodeus. Has there been any other stuff about these types of cults/adherents to Asmodeus in the past?

Going through THE DIVINITY DRIVE again, and once again, those darn gargoyles stuck out like a sore thumb to me. They just don't really fit, and using flying creatures in the confined spaces of Divinity don't really take advantage of that ability.

I kinda like the cybernetic gargoyle aesthetic, and it might make sense to throw a few of them at the party in THE PALACE OF FALLEN STARS either as allies of the Technic League or as Unity's direct agents, but again, having them in the spaceship is a bit off putting.

Any thoughts about replacing them with a more alien / robot type menace for the party?

I'll admit that I was (and, somewhat still am) skeptical of the premise of the Evil AP.

I've always disliked the "evil" campaign, which to me, is just players being jerks and doing awful things to elves. None of that is compelling, at least to me.

So, when this was announced, I briefly considered skipping the AP and saving a few bucks in 2016. But, I want to give Paizo the benefit of the doubt.

Going through the descriptions of the first four volumes of the AP that have been released as of this post I am extremely interested in Hell's Vengeance, and am eager to see how Paizo handles this campaign to save the evil empire from the plucky good guys.

Anybody else undergone or undergoing a similar change of heart?

Our two iconics are tossing some nice jink down a volcano's caldera!

WHY!!?!

SELL SELL SELL!!!!

For our resident rogue and swashbuckler, I am extremely concerned! Have they taken some kind of potion of Reverse Alignment? Are they cursed with a foul geas to act against their natures?

Explanations are demanded.

Okay, great adventure path, but the extreme age of everything is kind of getting to me.

Our AI / Android heroine has been hiding away for 500 years. Yup. 500 years. We have a ship that crashed 5 millenia ago, if not more.

Is there a compelling region for this kind of age? After all, the Numeria we see isn't like the Land of the Mammoth Lords to the North, where things are pretty standard Kellish. It's the irradiated, dessicated husk of super science vs. barbarism.

Moreover, it's pretty clear from the last part of the AP that the Silver Mount isn't thoroughly explored - but the Technic League has been going strong for thousands of years???

It just doesn't jive right.

What I propose is that Numeria had been bombarded by periodic waves of debris from the Divinity for a long time. Perhaps thousands of years - time distortion and whatnot. But it wasn't the big stuff.

The main husk of the ship falls onto Numeria when all the other stuff is happening around Golarion circa Aroden's demise - the Worldwound, the Eye, etc.

This creates a post-apocalyptic wasteland that's still kind of being explored, explains why there are robotic killers running around, and why the Technic League is still figuring all this stuff out. Starfall built in the rubble in the center of the vast, slowly recovering crater. The city is probably always inundated with water as a lake fills the crater, making exploration of the ship ever more hazardous, and making the city more like Bladerunner than Generic Evil Fantasy City 6.

It also helps out how Unity and the robots and the androids and everything else is still functioning after the crash - it's been 10 decades, not 5 millennia.

Thoughts? So much of Golarion is so old, and it just doesn't seem like it has to be, or that it helps the story along.
