Ulrich removes his helmet as he steps onto the Dark Tide, having worn it while crossing the void as he always does. He tucks it under his arm and accepts the data slate. His manner is, as usual, more reserved than the typical Space Wolf. He returns the salute with few words, "Knight-Warden, greetings."

Was it a house ruling that the MIU is a wireless connection? The description of the MIU give me the distinct impression that it is explicitly a physical connection: MIU (pg. 178) wrote: These devices, also known as sense-links, allow the owner to directly interface with a machine or technological device. MIUs see widespread use among Techmarines. A basic MIU implant involves a single spinal or cortex connector, while advanced variants include wrist connector probes—and possibly mechadendrite connectors—in addition to the spinal plug.

I would prefer to not nerf the wolf senses. It is supposed to be a thing that boosts any perception based check. (for a wolf scout the wolf senses bonuses also apply to ALL their stealth tests; concealment, move silently, and shadowing) I would say it is not just intended to represent a heightened ability to perceive things (though there is that), but also to assimilate the information more quickly and to gain more from the same amount of data. It transcends the normal limitations of senses; it is instinct, experience, preternaturally keen senses, and the training of a mind accustomed to the influx of data those senses provide. In the case of the ship's augury system, perhaps a high level space wolf can simply discern more from the readouts than a someone with less innate talent or training. A greater ability to notice a pattern in the sensor return, or to discern more differences in colors or to hear a more subtle pattern in an audio feed that indicates a skulking ship's drive. As for the helmet, I had hoped to improve on the wolf skull helm and gain the bonus to medicae that the diagnostor helmet gives. We had talked about it before and you said I could pay the requisition for one and have Varryl combine the two. The way you just talked about it here (dismantle a requisitioned item, etc) makes it seem less like a good idea. Perhaps we can have Brother Kovac study the diagnostor and devise a way to add similar circuitry to the wolf skull helm.

So, based on the ship actions from rogue trader, this should have been a Scrutiny (+0) test. For me that drops the 110 to 90, but Unnatural Perception raises the difficulty by one step so it should have been Scrutiny(+10) so the final target number would have been 100 for 7 DoS. Modify that by the ship's detection value (I don't know what that is).

Correct. Passive scans, +30 awareness, +10 for wolf senses. And now +20 when I have my armor's auto-senses to lean on. And unnatural Perception x2. And +10 if it is sight, smell, or hearing.

Ulrich quietly gives the command for maximum passive scans, then turns to Vartas, "Sensors are clear. We are running passive scans only. Active sensors are standing by your command." Perception vs 90: 1d100 ⇒ 64, 4 DoS.

Side by side with Valens, Ulrich soaks up knowledge of the Necron. He has not forgotten the deception of the Chaos sorcerer, and is keen to understand the ways in which the necrons can practice similar deceptions. The records and details of Brother Pardis' previous encounters with this new, old enemy Ulrich pores over at length. When a break happens between sessions with Pardis, Ulrich often spends it having some of the practice cages updated to mimic the fighting styles of the necron foes and practicing against them.

Ulrich ponders the Ancient's question for a time before responding, "I would normally have answered that precise application of overwhelming firepower would be the best response to the presence of any xenos. While that approach is often effective, I have come to understand that with an enemy as obscure as the Necrons, knowing more of the enemy, their strengths and weaknesses, is cruicial in understanding where best to apply the overwhelming firepower."

Ulrich stands quietly in his black power armor. One hand absently petting the shoulders of a massive, cybernetically enhanced wolf and what looks like a combination of Astartes helmet and huge wolf skull is tucked under the other. The Crozius Arcanum of a Chaplain rests at his side, and the two ends of a power sword are visible behind his lower back. A storm bolter is worked into an arm mounting on his left arm, and an exquisite but oddly patterned assault shotgun rests at his other side. He nods gravely to the newcomer when Pyros mentions him, murmuring "Welcome, Brother," in a low voice.

197 Spent. I think I will stick with the regular jump pack and grab the techxorcism gun. I really wanted to bring either a melta or the barrage pattern plasma, but I think I will work with this.

BayouSnowman wrote: You'll already have thunderhawks, Emp and haywire do have some effect, full extent unknown.. You're correct about the cheap ammo... Better quality jump pack?... Hmm....not sure how it could improve, except maybe increase range or speed? Gotcha. What about other vehicles, bikes, speeder, etc? Maybe I will take a techxorcism gun? Might be interesting. Or Melta. Perhaps the jump pack has a better/longer flyer rating, quieter operation, larger movement multiplier or some such.

Let's Try this again: Keeping my storm bolter as my signature wargear. 10 Great Wolf Pelt
151 Spent. Most of the ammo I need costs less than 15 requisition. If I understand correctly, requisition of 1-14 will be more or less readily available. So the ammo I need to bring is just the more expensive kinds? Also, I am curious if there is a better-craftsmanship jump pack and what, if any, the better performance would be. If we all contribute some requisition, we can probably get and take a thunderhawk with us. It costs a total of 80 requisition. Depending on the answers above, I will bring some Kraken Rounds or metal storm for the storm bolter. From what Pardis said, Necrons are vulnerable to haywire effects?
Space Wolves Grey Hunter (Tactical Marine 7)
Alright. Here is most of my requisition. Sorry it took so long. I want to swap out my signature wargear. I will use it to obtain artificer armor. It kind of works with my induction into Wolf Priest too. 10 Great Wolf Pelt
181 Spent. I will look at and finalize ammo tomorrow.

So I thought you cannot use semi or full auto in melee anyway. Just standard attacks. The normal pistol rules actually cover both rate of fire and the scatter quality when engaged in melee. Pistol Class, pg 140 wrote: Pistol weapons are fired one-handed and can be used to make a Standard Attack while engaged in melee. When a pistol is used in this fashion, the pistol still Tests on Ballistic Skill and continues to count as a ranged weapon for all other purposes, including the application of Talents. However, the firer gains no bonuses or penalties to hit for range or targeting equipment such as Sights. Pistols with the Scatter Quality fired in melee are considered to be firing at Point-Blank range for the purpose of determining number of hits only. So as I understand it, in melee I would get a single attack, and if I hit with no range bonuses I could count 3 extra DoS (from the point blank bonus) to determine number of hits. Would the RoF and having scatter in melee be acceptable in light of this?

Here is my first stab at making a relic... Hagelskur - Relic Astartes Assault Shotgun:
Hagelskur - A word in the native tongue of Fenris meaning Hailstorm
Shorter Barrel gives 30% less range but can be counted as "Pistol" or "Basic" class, whichever is more advantageous for a given situation. Integrated Fire Selector. Can receive the Arm Weapon Mounting upgrade with no further impact on range, however this will double any reload times. Mastercrafted (included in stat line) Improved Rate of Fire as long as the weapon has the Scatter quality. If using slug or any other ammunition that removes the scatter quality, Hagelskur uses the standard rate of fire for an Assault Shotgun. Range 20, RoF S/4/6, 1d10+12, Pen 4, Clip 24, Reload Full (2 Full if arm mounted), Scatter, Rep Hero, Req 25 (approx 3x normal assault shotgun) I will flesh out the history more later, but the bare bones of it is that this was the personal sidearm of a Rune Priest who fell while serving the Deathwatch. The Space Wolves chapter passed ownership of the relic to the Deathwatch for use by future Space Wolves in the Deathwatch. Though Deathwatch tech-priests and techmarines have pored over the weapon in exhausting detail, no explanation for its enhanced rate of fire can be found. We have been using the errata profiles.

Ulrich nods to Pardis respectfully, "We will be prepared, Honored Brother, there is no other alternative." A troubled look crosses Ulrich's features, "The Necron we encountered spoke of factions within the Necrons, perhaps a fact we can use to our advantage? Do you know of these factions? Are they internally contentious, or do they seem as unified in purpose as the Tau?"

Mother's Day destroyed my time for requisition. I did get some notes written down for the shotgun. I will get them transferred into a spoiler or some such today. Not sure if it will be during my work day or later this evening. I will get requisition squared away early this week.

@Wanderer - I have compared Raven Guard and Wolf Scout rather extensively .. you should take a look at the Wolf Scout if you are not opposed to Space Wolves. The key with them is that ALL of the "stealth" skills are based on perception with some pretty hefty bonuses. You want to look at the Wolf Senses solo mode ability (it is passive so you ALWAYS get to use it) while keeping in mind that your stealth rolls will use many of those same rules...

Ulrich steps inside the room, glad to be back in the company of his full squad once more. The sight of the mighty Ancient Pardis strikes him as deeply as ever do those who continue to serve past the endurance of even one of the Adeptus Astartes. He bows deeply to the ancient one, "Greetings, Honored Brother. I know very little about these foes, only that which can be learned in a single contact with them. Know you from whence do they come, and why they are only now rising to be a threat to humanity?"

Brother Varryl:
In transit, during one of the few breaks that he has, Ulrich seeks out Brother Varryl. Ulrich has with him an extra helmet. He sets the extra helmet, one with the special sensors of a diagnostor helmet on a workbench, and sets his own wolf skull helm beside it. "Brother Varryl, I would seek your council on this matter. I have had an idea, and I would know if it is possible and if it would be acceptable to the machines within to integrate the diagnostic sensors within this helm into my own helm." In the weeks that follow, Ulrich is seen in every part of the ship, studying its strengths and weaknesses with a tactical eye both for offense and defense. He observes the tactical drills of the ships defense force, participating in and eventually conducting them under the merciless eye of Guard Captain Rogen. Though Rogen seems to take no pleasure in teaching and giving orders to one of the Adeptus Astartes, neither does he afford Ulrich any of the deference he has come to expect from mortals. Rogen knows the intricacies of attacking and defending starships better than any Ulrich has thus far met. Before long Ulrich and Pyros are practicing wargame exercises with Captain Rogen in a variety of permutations; two on one attacking, defending, one on one attacking and defending, Space Marines against Naval security, and every combination imaginable in every part of the ship. Relevant Skill Checks?:
Tactics: Assault Doctrine 45: 1d100 ⇒ 81.
Tactics: Defense Doctrine 45: 1d100 ⇒ 69. Command 80: 1d100 ⇒ 35. Awareness 80: 1d100 ⇒ 1. Search 70: 1d100 ⇒ 61. Tracking 80: 1d100 ⇒ 28. Intimidate 72: 1d100 ⇒ 16. Though his tactics are almost never up to the standard of the experienced spacer, Ulrich's ability to find his 'enemies' and to detect an ambush are unmatched. His forces' morale is unshakeable, and Ulrich's ferocity is unnerving to the 'enemy'. Lori, once she understands that they are playing at war as she once did as a pup, is almost gleeful in her participation; much to the alarm of the 'combatants'. She is quickly accepted, however, as her uncommon playful demeanor endears her to the crew; once they understand that the wolf bigger than they are will not actually eat them.

Ulrich watches Asudai, Sabira, and Rogan impassively while they speak. Once they have given their introductions, he nods to them one by one, "Greetings to you all, and may the Emperor watch over us all. It will be good to understand the duties and responsibilities we shall have in the months to come. I thank you for interrupting your normal routines enough to share this knowledge with us." *** Ulrich steps forward, flanked by the huge form of Lori on one side, and the armored bulk of Pyros on the other. He is silent for several long moments as he meets the eye of each Marine present. When he speaks, it is in a conversational tone, just loud enough to reach them all, "Each one of us has dedicated his life to the defense of Imperium of Man. Each one of us has proven himself in the fires of War. Each Marine here is of unimpeachable character, possessed of ferocious loyalty, and hand picked for a duty for which we have been told next to nothing. In this, we are all Brothers. We hail from many different Chapters. I am a Space Wolf. Brother Pyros is a Salamander. I see Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, Dark Templars, Dark Ravens, White Scars, Space Wolves, Salamanders, and many others before me. We who have sworn the Apocryphon Oath belong now to the Deathwatch Guard!" Ulrich pauses, glancing down at the left pauldron of his own armor before returning his gaze to the assembled Marines and reciting a part of the Apocryphon Oath, "On the honor of your chapter, your Primarch, and the Emperor, you are sworn to destroy the Alien, confront the myriad enemies of the imperium, and obey the most solemn vows of the Apocryphon Conclave. You will watch in the dark places, you will safeguard the night, and annihilate the vile xenos and bring unto them the judgment of mankind. You will stand as the bulwark upon which the Imperium persists, from now, unto the ending of the universe." He pauses once more, letting the last echoes of that portion of the Apocryphon Oath fade before continuing, "This is the oath that binds us into a single body; a single purpose. We stand shoulder to shoulder, an unbreakable wall of the Emperor's will made manifest to protect the worlds of Man from the predations of the foul Xenos. I do not need to tell you what we will do, for Brother Pyros has said it very well, and each of you knows your duty in your very bones. It is undoubted that some of us will not return from this mission, for such is the strength of the foe we march to face. We march to war steadfast, with eyes open and bolters ready, and I am honored to lead you, stand beside you, and if necessary, die beside you." Ulrich's voice rises to a thunderous shout, "We are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, the war gods and terrible swift sword of our Emperor! We are His will, and we have always been so! For the Emperor!"

Sounds good. I will take felling for my storm bolter with the arcane weaponry. I will requisition the diagnostor helm and work with Varryl IC to combine the two. I will also get some ideas for a relic shotgun to you.
Space Wolves Grey Hunter (Tactical Marine 7)
A few questions for Bayou: Would you consider making a Relic shotgun? I was looking for interesting things to take, and I started sifting through the Emperor's Chosen, and I think it would be interesting to take the Mantle of the Silver Lion while not knowing its particular history. Also, it would be interesting to try to purify the Defiled Mantle of the Crusader. The thing that turns me off to those relics is the fact that a significant portion of their power depends of the possession and use of the Heroic Legacies. Also, would you be willing to allow a combination of a diagnostor helmet with a wolf skull helmet? I would like to take the Inquisitorial Asset 'Arcane Weaponry', and add either felling or something that blocks regeneration to one of my weapons. I would prefer the thing that blocks regeneration; can that be done? Requisition Items so far:
