Perfect Introductory Adventure for Golarion PCs and GMs alike!

5/5

I just finished running this module for a group of players new to the Golarion setting and they really enjoyed it. This module comes with a strong backstory linking it to some rather interesting Golarion lore and even ties in loosely to one of Golarion's cover stealing Big Bads!

The town of Kassen's Hold is richly developed with mentor NPCs for every player to interact with. If the PC's are willing to have their characters come from Kassen originally, this makes for a strong storytelling tie-in as the characters are participating in the yearly Everflame Ritual. It helps give depth and meaning to everything that is going to happen throughout the course of the adventure.

I found that even when I had PC's that wanted their characters to come from elsewhere, that it was relatively easy to find a reason to make them go to the Crypt of the Everflame. Mind you, they all got the standard, "there is such and such coming from the Crypt of the Everflame call-to-adventure", but it worked and managed to get them all there without any trouble.

I chose this as the starter module for my campaign based on the way it ties in to the other entries in the Price of Immortality series as well as its strong ties to Golarion lore. I've found great joy in tying the module in with other stand alone modules such as The Godsmouth Heresy, Fangwood Keep, Hungry Are the Dead and many more.

Pick up a copy of Crypt of the Everflame and get your players started with a rich campaign backstory that will help them build great adventures for many years to come.

Friendly for first time players and long time power gamers alike. If you get through this in one sitting without roleplaying, you need a new GM.

Caravans + Vehicles = Answer to All Your Mobile Needs!

5/5

Buy this map pack in conjunction with the more recent "Vehicles" pack to have access to everything you're going to need to bring your PCs travels to life. You'll get a wide variety of carriages and carts with horses in this pack that will enable you to transport your characters from one side of Golarion to the other.

Highly recommended! Makes the GM Must Buy list!

Vehicles + Caravan Pack = Perfect Set for Modern Mobile GM!

5/5

Ignore the whiney reviewers below. If you need vehicles for your campaign, here they are! You get a wide selection of mounts from horses to dogs to lizards to chariots, carts and even a steam giant to put on the board!

Yes, you have to cut the pieces apart, but it takes very little time to get them in the shape you need. Some may cut the mounts completely away from the ground included in the pawn/token, but I didn't have a problem with leaving the setting there as a base. The smaller mounts such as the lizards, dogs and spiders would no doubt get damaged or lost if cut away completely from the ground.

Use in conjunction with the Caravans map pack and you'll have everything you need to transport your characters from one side of Golarion to the other.

Versatile Set of Shrine Maps!

5/5

The Shrines map pack makes my recommended list because of the diversity of the tiles included. They are adaptable to almost any fantasy environment as you have woodland shrines, open temples, stone circles and even subterranean shrines at your disposal.

Pick up this pack to add a touch of the divine presence to any environment. Works well in conjunction with forest maps, dungeon maps and even urban sprawls.

Use in conjunction with other forest/jungle map packs to create any green environment that you need.

Recommended.

Skull & Shackles bring more Pawns for the Addicted GM!

5/5

I have a problem. I love pawns and feel the need to buy every single pawn set as it is released, regardless of whether or not I am going to play the adventure path. In the case of Skull & Shackles, I doubt that I will ever play the adventure path, but that didn't stop me from buying the pawn set. This is the set to get when you want to stock up on pirate NPCS and all of the creatures of the sea that your party might encounter.

This is probably the most perfectly made set of pawns out of all that Paizo offers at present. The art is gorgeous and up to the regular Paizo standards, but the ink is not as dark as on some of the pawn sets. This is a common complaint that doesn't bother me, but others seem to harp on about it.

The pawns themselves are all pre-cut from the cardboard and will literally fall out of the sheet once you start looking through them. There will be no problems removing them and none of that annoying cardboard tear that comes from improperly cut pawns. All of the pawns are aligned properly on the sheets and even the characters with the guns have actual guns on the pawn instead of truncated, sawed-off handles.

As stated above, this is Paizo's most perfectly made set to date. If you're addicted to pawns like me, then buy with confidence. If you need your pirate fix, then this is the set for you!

Slums + Rooftops + Marketplace = Triple Threat of GM Map Packs!

5/5

Buy this set in conjunction with the Rooftops and Marketplace map packs and you will be prepared to lay out any village, town or city that your PC's come across. When I first started planning my map pack purchases, I was disappointed to find that it is difficult to lay out a scenario properly using only one map pack.

Once I added a few different packs to my collection, the true power of the map packs were revealed as they combine in a near infinite variety of layouts. Now with my city triple threat of map packs in tow, I can lay out any town, large or small, from Absolam to Kaer Maga without any trouble!

If your PC's are headed into town, get your triple threat of map packs going today and you'll be prepared for anything they throw at you.

Temples Map Pack useful for the GM on the go!

5/5

The Temples Map Pack makes my list of useful map packs due to the diversity of the map pieces contained within. You get a basic columned temple, a stone circle, a cult warehouse and more.

No matter what environment your PC's find themselves in, you will have a temple to match that you can drop on the table any time.

Supplement your Demonic Pawn Collection with this Set!

5/5

The Wrath of the Righteous pawn set brings you a wide variety of demonic pawns and devilish adversaries. If you're planning to run anything with demons, this gives you all the succubi that you're ever going to need!

The art is gorgeous. The characters are bloody and valiant. The monsters are hideously beautiful. Pick it up today!

GameMastery Item Cards: Essentials Deck = Must Buy for GM's!

5/5

If you're a GM looking to expand your resources on a budget, then this is the starter deck of items for you! Just like it says on the box, this deck is filled with the "Essentials" that you need to fill out your adventure.

I just finished plotting out the item drops of the entire Godsmouth Heresy module - using only the cards from this deck (plus one charm for the rune).

Buy the GameMastery Item Cards: Essentials Deck to get started and pick up the other sets as you need them.

Zirnakaynin comes to your campaign!

4/5

This map pack is worth picking up for one reason alone - the large map of Zirnakaynin. You won't find it anywhere else - and if you want to bring it to life, you'll need a proper map of it.

The rest of the maps are mostly encounter maps from the Second Darkness Adventure Path so your mileage may vary.

Worth Getting for the Maps of Varisia and Korvosa.

4/5

This map pack is worth picking up if your campaign takes a detour through Varisia. There is a large map of Varisia and a large map of Korvosa as well. The rest are small reprints of encounter maps from the Curse of the Crimson Throne modules so your mileage may vary.

No GM is New to the City of Strangers - with this Book in Hand!

5/5

The City of Strangers campaign setting book is hands down my favorite of the Golarion setting so far! These 64 pages are filled with more info on the city of scum and villainy than I'll be able to put into practice over the course of ten campaigns.

This is the book you need if your PCs are going to set foot anywhere atop that dreaded city on the Storval Plateau. If you are planning to run The Godsmouth Heresy, Seven Swords of Sin, The Asylum Stone or any of the PFS scenarios set in Kaer Maga, you MUST OWN THIS BOOK!

It will help you fill in the details of the various sectors of Kaer Maga and the factions that populate them. Breathe life into your bloat mages, necromancers of Ankar-Te with their undead servants and the troll augurs by reading up on them first in this setting guide.

Kaer Maga is my favorite setting in Golarion and whole campaigns can be cut from the cloth provided in these pages. Buy it today!!!

Godsmouth Heresy offers Creative GMs a Chance to Shine!

5/5

This module is set in the richest setting of Golarion - Kaer Maga. There are a multiplicity of ways to tie this into other modules and create endless opportunities for roleplaying around the spectacular dungeon crawl presented within.

We played through the first session and over the course of five hours, only just made it inside the first chamber of the Godsmouth Ossuary by the end of the session. The entire day was taken up with the actual journey across Varisia to the foot of the Storval Plateau and up the Halflight Path with the Duskwardens to finding a guide to get them across the city to the Pharasman Cathedral. And all of that happened before page 7 of the module!

The players loved the experience of entering the warrens of Kaer Maga and seeing the bloatmages, troll Augurs, street urchins and necromancers of Ankar-Te with their undead servants in tow.

You have to combine this module with the info in the City of Strangers campaign guide to bring it to life. The material is there for the creative GM to take advantage of, but lazy GMs need not apply for they will only find a vigorous dungeon crawl within with several openings for them to fill creatively. Such GMs might complain of a lack of roleplay - when the onus is on them to make it happen.

If you're up to the challenge, this is one of the best Golarion themed dungeon crawls you're going to find! I used it as a follow up to the Crypt of the Everflame by having the characters go there in search of

Spoiler:
the third piece of Asar's amulet.
That it all fit together without missing a beat is a testament to the strength of the setting that James L. Sutter and the Paizo crew have created.

Find Your Dragon Empires Pawns in this Box!

5/5

If you're a GM looking to save money while you build your resources, then the pawn box collections are simply indispensable. The Bestiary 3 Box features the same high quality work we've come to expect from Paizo with gorgeous illustrations, sturdy pawns and plenty of bases to keep your armies standing until the break of dawn.

This set is the one to pick up when you're looking to populate that Dragon Empires campaign that you're running. You'll find the bulk of the Oriental style creatures contained within.

I don't run Dragon Empires as yet, so I picked this one up for another rare and elusive creature - the Sasquatch! Strangely, the sasquatch art differs from the Bestiary 3 art but it looks absolutely amazing.

Your PCs will be stunned when they see the beast lumbering out of the bushes to greet them. I know mine were!

Pick it up today! Highly recommended!

Bestiary Box 2 Unleashes Planar Friends and Foes Upon Your Pawns!

5/5

If you're a GM building your resources to run your weekly tabletop game, then eventually you're going to want to pick up the Bestiary 2 Box! This is the one you'll need to supplement all of those amazing demonic and planar beasties that aren't covered in the first Bestiary. Pick this one up if you're planning to invade the Worldwound or take a trip around the Great Beyond. You'll find pawns to make all of those otherworldly encounters come to life right before your eyes.

Beautiful artwork. Wide variety of creatures. Sturdy construction. Must have collection! Nicely supplemented by the Wrath of the Righteous pawn set!

Lairs Map Pack Makes the GM Must Have List!

5/5

When I buy a new map pack, I ask myself two questions: Can I use this in my current campaign? Will I be able to use these maps in other scenarios?

If the answer to both questions is "yes", then I scoop the map pack up and put it to work on my tabletop! The Lairs map pack makes my list because it has lair maps for five different environments. That means that no matter where my PCs find themselves, I can slap down a random (or even planned) encounter with a beautifully illustrated map in full color and we're ready to go!

If you are looking to build your map pack resources, make sure the Lairs pack makes its way to your gaming table!

Paizo's Combat Pad Makes Tracking Combat So Much Easier!

5/5

This is a must buy item for GMs. It comes with a set of magnetic labels that you move around the pad. Simply use a dry erase marker to write the PC and NPC names on each label, assign its initiative value and you're all set! Additional counters track the round and more. Indispensable.

First Must Own Set of GameMastery Map Packs!

5/5

I picked up three GameMastery Map Tiles sets last week - and this weekend, only one of them made an appearance on my gaming table - this one! The Ambush Map Pack is the perfect starter set for GM's looking to build their map collections as it comes with several alternate terrains.

This variety ensures that you have an encounter site for your game no matter what kind of terrain your PCs are currently traversing. Players working through a dungeon? No problem, just throw down the sewer encounter tiles and you're all set! Players making their way through an ancient forest, viola! Here are the tiles for the forest ambush!

It doesn't matter where you need an encounter - the ambush sites map pack has you covered!

Bestiary Box is the Answer to GM's Prayers!

5/5

When the clerk at the local game shop told me that the only way I would find a Pathfinder game would be to run one on my own, my mind immediately reeled thinking of the hundreds of miniatures that I would need to properly host a game.

Then I thought about the Pathfinder pawns line and the answer to my problem was in sight! I picked up the Bestiary Box prior to my first session and happily realized that almost every monster that I needed was represented within!

The pawns are sturdy and the artwork is gorgeous. The players really enjoy the added value of seeing the exact creatures they are facing. It makes encounter descriptions a breeze because I just set up the pawns and tell the players "this is what you see"!

You can't beat this selection for the price. Take your game to the next level. This first set is indispensable and will be the only monster box you'll need for a while!

Gorgeous set of pawns for NPCs & PCs alike!!!

5/5

The NPC Codex box contains a stunning selection of individual pawns that may be used for players or NPCs. At the start of every session, I pass the NPC Codex Box around and let the players choose their pawn. The players love digging thru the box almost as much as I love sorting it for NPC pawns. Combine this box with the new Inner Sea Pawn Box for the various factions and cults to have every pawn you'll need to keep your Golarion campaign running fresh for years to come!

Another Gorgeous Set of Pawns with which to populate your Inner Sea!

5/5

This set is fantastic! You get all of the great Inner Sea factions that you've been dying to see such as the Red Mantis assassins, cult of Razmir, Hellknights, Pathfinders and more.

The rest is fantastic and worthy of the normal high quality work of Paizo. Well done.

Now You Too Can "Be Awesome At Dungeon Design!" Thanks to Raging Swan Press

5/5

When you get a free product, you never know what the quality will be, but when you download a Raging Swan Press PDF, you know you're getting the best! Being newly converted to Pathfinder after years away from RPGs thanks to those that destroyed my beloved Greyhawk, I've just recently discovered the joys of third party publishers, and Raging Swan Press is one of the best.

This PDF does exactly what it says on the cover and gives you a basic overview of all of the things you need to think about when designing a dungeon for your next group of PCs. It's 14 pages long with a couple pages of ads but everything in between is packed to the gills with suggestions for every aspect of dungeon design.

The PDF touches on everything from thinking about where the dungeon came from, to ecology, to dressing, history, denizens, so on and so forth. The long and short of it is that it doesn't matter if you're building your new PC blender from the ground up or adapting Paizo's Master of the Fallen Fortress, BAaDD will make you think about everything that goes into it and ensure that you have enough flavor to sprinkle on the crunch before you crush the PCs beneath your feet.

Download it today and give thanks to Raging Swan Press while you do it. If you dig it, pick up a copy of their "Dungeon Dressing" series which helps you build that dungeon from the ground up. Try it today. You won't regret it.
