Starting a discussion thread for the current players to discuss who they like in the recruit thread, and possible choices.

I will shortly be tired of relaying to each individual what each other member of the group is thinking, haha.

I'm very interested in this! A question on the homebrew rules regarding multiclassing and PRCs, I like the trainer idea as it is silly for a dwarf armor master fighter to be a caster all of a sudden, but would you need to seek out a trainer for a natural progression for you class? I.E. my submission will be a rogue, and while not certain, I was contemplating taking assassin at a much higher level, 10+.

No, I don't want it to be something that takes over the game. It would be something more like hiring a trainer that follows you around, or if there is a "downtime" break it can be taken there.

Like I said, it can be something organic, too. Like learning from a friend in the party, or also if you do meditation for a prolonged time and then reach a "breakthrough moment".

I just think it is weird to be at breakfast after a long day and be like "Guess what guys? I know magic now! Check out these 7 spells I now know how to do!!!"

Whabooooyeah! (that is the correct noise while performing a cantrip)

Hey everyone! We are starting up a Serpent's Skull PbP. We will be selecting players towards the end of this week (By Sunday the 19th, if not sooner). We have 2 players currently, and some invites we are waiting to hear back from. We have anywhere from one to four open slots. The players will be selecting, not me. We are expecting an average of 3 posts a day (weekends, holidays and birthdays will be lighter, but you are expected to check in on the weekends and see what is going on) It will be worth it! These players are RP heavy, and it is a lot of fun (With that being said, if you are hack and slash and rush on to the next level up, this game might not be your cup of tea.)

As a GM, I tend to be very RP heavy and a lot less "rules lawyer," though I do play one on tv. The most important thing to me is the story that we create, and I care much less about stats and things of that nature. I am open to suggestions, but I also won't be bossed around. This is something that I do for fun, and to interact with interesting people. I'm not a fan of actual trolling or bullying in any of their forms. (If you have a personality conflict with people that know less than you about the entire codex of things, then you also should probably not apply.)

SO LET'S GET THIS RECRUITMENT GOING!!!

Let me help you know what they are looking for (so you can get picked). They are #1 looking for dependability (responding to inquiries, posting counts, and thread involvement, etc). #2 roleplay and interesting characters with backstories. Everything after that falls into place.

They will be filtering in this thread with the crowd and will pick based on the criteria mentioned above and "good party fit", and I have no intention of telling you who they are. (So therein lies the game!) I will be here to answer any questions about the game or our play style. Thanks for checking us out! (20 point buy, CRB APG on the table, everything else ask for submission - it will most likely be approved . Don't worry so much about picking out traits and stuff now, you will have a few days to fully stat out a character IF selected. We are looking for solid ideas and backstories right now. Spoiler me for any specific questions you don't want anyone else to see.)

GOOD LUCK, AND HAVE FUN!!!

Before we start:

I want new PFS players, not a new "character" from already seasoned PFS vets. 2 reasons for this: The first is that I am new to running PFS (They don't have one in my area, so I basically just woke up one day and wanted to start one - as I watched all the campaigns I gm go slowly to hell with work pressures hitting my gaming group), and want to build up my experience with PFS rules adjustments, etc even when I'm not going through sessions IRL...

Also, I think PFS is a really good thing, and I'd like to bring some people into it that miss gaming, but don't feel like they can make a 2 year every other week commitment to a real life campaign.

PFS was much funner than I thought it was going to be. I can only imagine how fun it would be when the table isn't in a 4 hr time crunch to get it done.

Just an interest check, will update with more info if enough are interested/curious.

Bugsby:
You climb with no problem, and jump down with a roll, taking no damage. As for the ropeswing, you swing across okay, but either your grip slips, or you **mistimed your jump** and you flip to the net, only grappling it at the bottom.

BTW, I didn't mention this, but magic is allowed in the course, so long as nobody really notices. Not sure if that will change the way you play things out :) YOu could have drinken a potion or done something magicky before you start. If this will change anything you have done, let me know and we can apply it.

Otherwise, I need you to make a STR check to avoid falling into the water.

So as promised, we are going to fast forward into 4pm's game time.

- Any conversation that you would like to take place before that can be "flextimed" as "Table Conversation". We are going to move into the game time to keep it flowing.

- I want all "table conversation discussion" (if any) to wrap up by midnight tomorrow night (05/04/12)

We've been playing for 3 days and I haven't even swung a sword at you... :)

The center in front of the plaza seems full of buzz as the games are unveiled. It seems all of Sandpoints residents are here, crowded into the area in front of the chapel. The tables have been moved.

A list tells what the town has to offer as far as games are concerned.

You see:

  • A fencing tournament
  • A magic display
  • A short play being put on by the acting guild in town
  • A "boulder tossing" event
  • A sharpshooting contest
  • A game of dice (18 yrs and up - we have been assured that there will be NO gambling there)
  • Boxing (18 and older)
  • Arm Wrestling competition
  • A "cook-off"
  • A puppet show
  • A kissing booth
  • A race
  • A game of "Who's the toad" (basically who flinches first)
  • A staring contest
  • A kissing contest
  • An obstacle course
  • A bug-eating contest

Yeah, this massive stone catherdral going up is a big deal. This is a big turning around point for the town, as they are trying to shrug off and forget the past

There will be boons for winning any contest(the prizes are set by the people running the games - they are common townsfolk, so don't be expecting +1 magical swords :) ). You can only visit each booth once, and you really only have time to do 5 or 6 of these, not all, by the time you walk to all the various locations, and stand in line if there is one. The dance will be starting around 6 or 7. They want the dance to start approximately an hour before dusk.

While you are standing in line you can talk to whomever you want, and get a feel for the townspeople, and also the games the people are running.

Iodem:
Since you are from town, you won't need to rp all the intros with everyone that you see. I can give you a general list of who is in what line, who is running the game, etc etc.

Zen:
Since you aren't from town, this might be a good opportunity to impress people, and get on their good side. Everyone likes a winner. :) As you stand in line, I will describe roughly who is there, and you are welcome to find out about them as much as you want

You can all decide to go together, or separate. You technically don't even have to do *any* games. You can sneak away and try not to get caught by the rotating guards, if you really want.

Like I said though, there is opportunity to win here, and it isn't all material stuff. You might get diplomacy bonuses with people for winning, taking second, or even playing someone's game.

Have fun!

We'll do this as long as everyone is having fun with it (within reason), but I also don't want it to take forever. My trigger finger is getting itchy to send some "baddies" your way ;)

And, metagame: The faster you play these games in real-time, the more I might let you do.

This post doesn't go to all of you, but I have seen some major complainers on this, and especially other threads about this subject.

A) It makes sense

B) I think a lot of you are operating under the misconception that Pathfinder is something to be *conquered,* rather than experienced.

C) If we are operating under the "a turn takes 6 seconds and we all take our turns in a round somewhat simultaneous" then the rule makes more sense.

"Here, hold still while I hit you with this hammer 5 more times in approximately 6 seconds with my dominant hand..." just doesn't work in my mind.

Flurry of blows is more like THIS in my mind (starts at approx :40 seconds). Each blow sets up the next blow. Like in boxing, you hit the ribs to open up the hands, etc.

D) Kind of like "B" above, don't get mad at the people that are creating an environment for you to have fun. You are the ones limiting yourselves to having fun, thinking that the "xp" at the end of a fight is the only good moment. I tell my players that the fun is just showing up, snacking, and hanging out with people that get you. If you do that, you are already winning, even if/when you "lose."
