Hey folks!

I was looking this up specifically for the Everstand Stance feat, and came to the realization that the Remaster has officially fixed this issue.

Player Core pg. 139 wrote:
Stance: A stance is a general combat strategy that you enter by using an action with the stance trait, and you remain in for some time. A stance lasts until you get knocked out, until its requirements (if any) are violated, until the encounter ends, or until you use a stance action again, whichever comes first. After you take an action with the stance trait, you can’t take another one for 1 round. You can enter or be in a stance only in encounter mode. You can Dismiss a stance.
Dismiss wrote:
Action: 1; You end an effect that states you can Dismiss it. Dismissing ends the entire effect unless noted otherwise.

Thought that I would share this information after coming across this post.

Just curious, has anyone come up with a means for players to track their Branch Benefits? Something like a simplified extra sheet where they can track which additional skills/feats/etc that they get when they reach the appropriate level for their Primary and Secondary branches.

Slightly bent over at the waist and leaning against the hallway wall, Amaya nods in understanding, obviously looking a little haggard from her revelation, but she tries to smile at her friend in return. Henric nods in agreement. "I didn't detect any kind of ill intent or malicious effect from the gauntlets," he adds, "but better to be safe."

He grabs the sack from the dwarf, and carefully places the gauntlets inside, then stows the bag away in his backpack.

If no one else minds, I'll hang onto the Bag of Holding. I've been keeping track of loot anyways. :)

Amaya sleeps easily that night, but is interrupted by something that she hears at the back of her consciousness. Not really sure what draws her, she makes her way from her small room in the Great Dreamhouse, and makes her way to the garden, and the fountain within. As she sits on the edge, looking into the water, a form starts to take shape of the water itself. Oddly, the shape starts to look like it is no longer crafted from water, but coral, with a pearlescent sheen to it. She knows immediate, though without any clue as to how, that she is looking on the physical manifestation of Lysianassa, the Empress of the Torrent.

No words are spoken, as the shape, that of a sailfish, holds her attention as if she were physically being grasped. There is a sense of pride, but urgency. The path is being layed out, she only needs to trust and walk. Learn to use the gifts give, and do not fear them. A trust in those around you as well. They will be pivotal to success.

Amaya wakes up, with the sun shining through the open ceiling, finding herself still in the garden, asleep on the edge of the fountain. The night before is still fresh in her memory, but was she truly awake for it?

The young oracle suddenly realizes that there is something pressing against her palm, and she opens it to see a small carved sailfish, made of some unusual mix of coral and mother-of-pearl. She tucks the trinket away with a smile on her face, and heads back to her room to get ready for the day.

Figured that I should get something out there for her Pilgrim's Token feat. Elemental Lords don't usually have too many holy sites, at least not in civilized areas.

-------------------

Amaya greets everyone with a warm smile when they all join up. She responds to Bea, "That may be best. We were hired by them, after all, and they will want to know that the goblins are safe." Amaya seems to hold herself with a confidence that wasn't evident the day before. The tone in her voice also belies the same. Perhaps the day before had just exhausted her.

Henric's self-inflicted spell is broken at the sound of light-hearted conversation. When he sees Kiley without her coverings, and the others smiling at her, Henric can't help but to join in.

He comes up beside her and nudges her shoulder with his, "See," he tells her, a little smugly, "I told you that you'd be fine, didn't I?"

It takes her a moment to register Bea's words, but finally she responds, "Something like that, I suppose. I am merely a vessel, but one that is imperfect; flawed. Like a cracked vase bits of water finds it's way out, but when the pressure is increased, so is the size of the cracks." The winds surrounding Amaya are more detectable, even to the point of affecting Beatrix's clothes and hair. She wraps her arms about herself, though the summer warmth left no room to be cold. "I didn't ask for this; it was thrust on me. But I do what I can, trying to learn how to control what I can and make it something useful. Half the time, though, it seems to have a will of it's own."

Counteracting is a bit of an odd one.

There's technically two things to keep in mind. First, did the roll succeed or fail?

So, just like any roll in 2e, there are the four different results.

So If I rolled an 20, but the DC was an 18, then it was a success. Straight forward, right?

The trick part comes in figuring out the result.

So, as you said, Darkness is a 2nd level spell, and Dancing Lights is currently considered a 1st level spell.

If, as noted above, the roll was a success, the result says "Counteract the target if its counteract level is no more than 1 level higher than your effect’s counteract level." This means that the 1st-level Dancing Lights counteracts a spell of 2nd level or lower.

If, say, the result was a Failure, the Dancing Lights could only counteract a spell of a lower level (which technically doesn't exist, of course, because it's currently 1st level).

At this point, it's been and done, so it doesn't matter, but I'm more than willing to help with the learning curve, if you like. I feel like I'm getting a pretty good handle on it, these days. :)

I may have mention this before, but I highly recommend checking out How it's Played (Used to be called Basics of Gaming). He does a great job of explaining specific rules of the game.

A burly dwarf struts up to the gathering, his blond beard seeming to be barely held together in it's braid, and the draconic-looking plate mail seems to be in need of a bit of buffing. A heavy looking warhammer hangs from his belt, along with a few smaller hammers, and a large metal shield sits comfortably on his arm. Hey fam.

So I've been tossing around the idea for some time of opening up the can of running Forgotten Realms using Pathfinder 1e. Specifically, I have the trio of adventures that starts with Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave.

I've tried running this campaign at least a couple times, and it's always fallen through for one reason or another, so I'd like to see if it works any better then the great people here in the Paizo Forums.

So, first and foremost, I'm looking to see how many people might be interested in this endeavor.

Secondly, before running this series, I've been tossing around the idea of running something to fill the gap at the beginning (Cormyr starts the players at lvl 4).

While there's a lot of Pathfinder modules that I could use and adapt, I'd like to keep the flavor very FR, and so I've been looking at Murder at Baldur's Gate (which is listed as levels 1-3. I've heard good things about it, but reading through it seems really daunting. I'm wondering if there is anyone that has experience with it that would be able to provide some insight as to whether it's worth it, or if I should look in another direction.

Needless to say, this is currently just exactly what it's labeled as: Interest and Info. How the thread plays out (and people's input) may dictate whether or not I'm even going to do this, or when.

Finally, thanks in advanced for taking the time to help me with this. :)

Despite his thoughts on the contrary, Henric didn't last more than an hour before succumbing to sleep himself. Luckily, he'd learned the talent of not moving when he slept early on. Even the book was still held in his hands, if loosely. The only signs that he was asleep was his drooping head and half-closed eyes.

That, of course, came to an abrupt end when Kiley woke up. "Wha?! Who!?" he startles awake, jolting just enough to cause his book to fall out of his hands to the floor. It takes him a moment to jostle his brain back to wakefulness before he realizes what's going on. "It's okay. You don't need to apologize so much. If it was a problem, then I would have said something...... probably." he gives her a grin that speaks volumes of irony.

Henric stands up and stretches the cramps out of his muscles before he picks up the book he dropped. "I wasn't exactly going to kick you out. So don't worry so much. We're friends, remember?" He offers Kiley his hand, and helps her to stand.

"We should get some breakfast, then do some shopping the the square. We seem to have gathered a collection of equipment and supplies."

That sounds just fine. I was just curious about the 'story behind the story' so to speak.

Would it be safe to say that your character spent some time learning to be a cleric in a different place? Say, the City of Brass, or somewhere similar?

I was just looking at the link you shared.

Temples and shrines:

Many of the empire's outposts hosted temples and shrines to Onos. Its largest temples can be found in planar settlements like the City of Brass, where they host extraplanar visitors.

Seems Onos cares more about the planes of the Inner Sphere, and Nirvana is part of the Outer Sphere.

Also, which Domains/subdomains are you thinking about going with?

Whatever sleep was clouding his senses before, the sight of a woman - his friend! - crying in front of him brought everything to crystal clarity.
A sense of (probably unfounded) chivalry comes over him and pushes all other concerns into the depths of his brain. "Oh gods! Of course, Kiley. Please, come in." He drops his staff, all but forgotten, from his hand as he swings the door open wider, nearly tripping over it as he does so. While he recovers his poise, he grabs the blanket from his bed, almost reflexively, and offers to drape it over her shoulders as she enters the room.

"Please. Take a seat where ever you like," then, seeing the state of his room, starts picking up discarded books, stacking them on the little writing desk, and pulling his discarded shirt over his head, all at the same time. The act nearly causes him to run into the stool and go crashing to the floor.

While much of that may be true, that doesn't mean that the information isn't useful. It just depends on how you look at things and process the information. I'm sure, if the GM doesn't find it useful, then it'll be bypassed. I know, for me, when I was accepting applications for a game that I'm running, someone did something similar and I found it helpful. If nothing else, it breaks them down into some kind of groupings, even if the grouping are very basic, and that information can be augmented in whatever way is most helpful for the person to which it matters.

At the very least, it lets people see commonalities and variances in the different submissions, again, at a basic level.

Fort Save DC 18 vs. Curse: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 (I didn't want to assume, but if it's considered Magic, then there should also be an additional +2 to this role for Dwarven Magic Resistance.)

... Doesn't look like it should matter anyways. :)

Walking along beside the dwarf, Toadlicker looks at Dorian as if he's missed the obvious. He holds an open hand in front of him, and very deliberately punches it with the other. "Natural."

I think Ripfang's Battle Medicine check was actually for Brogag, not himself.

Recruitment is now officially closed!

Thanks to everyone that showed interest in joining. I've enjoyed going through all the entries.

I've already made a cursory scan through everything, but I'm going to take at least the weekend to go through everything thoroughly before I make my final decision.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Figured that this would be a good time to update the current submission list.

Futin, the Catfolk Sorcerer (Angelic Bloodline), with the Haunting Vision Background.

Freda Fairfield (Twilik); Half-Elf; Reputation Seeker; Alchemist [Bomber]

Klim Murdoon (Subparhiggins); Human [Versatile]; Local Scion; Ranger
Sindarin Elessar (Esha); Half-Elf; Haunting Vision; Ranger

A good list of characters, and I've been enjoying reading what people have written.

When looking at the list grouped by 'categories' (and I use this term loosely), it looks something like this:

Skilled
Morinn (Dwarf Rogue [Ruffian])
Luz (Human Investigator [Interrogator])
Milo (Halfling Rogue [Thief])
Ottor (Goblin Rogue [Thief])
Kurk (Human Bard [Polymath])
Eliza (Elf/Duskwalker Ranger)
Natalia (Human Bard [Maestro])
Klim (Human Ranger)
Sindarin (Half-Elf Ranger)

Rangers are arguably Martial characters, and Bards are arguably casters, but think they both sit in this area nicely.

Martial
Nico (Human Fighter)
Joran (Human Barbarian [Giant])
Cobb (Human Fighter)
Limere (Halfling Champion [Liberator])
Talina (Human Fighter)
Takara (Tengu Swashbuckler [Fencer])

Caster
Inathel (Elf Wizard [Enchanter])
Freda (Half-Elf Alchemist [Bomber])
Ruhka (Iruxi Druid [Storm])
Haechi (Kobold Wizard [Evocation])

Again, Alchemists could be argued to be a Skilled character, but as a Bomber, I think being a Pseudo-caster makes about as much sense.

Also, the current breakdown of Ancestries:
Dwarf - 1
Elf - 2
Goblin - 1
Halfling -2
Human - 10 (Half-Elves technically count as human)
Others (including Variant Ancestires) - 4

Lastly, Backgrounds:
Dragon Scholar - 1
Emancipated - 1
Haunting Vision - 3
Hellknight Historian - 2
Local Scion - 3
Out-of-Towner - 1
Reputation Seeker - 2
Returning Descendant - 2
Others - 4

I actually altered Limere slightly and he's now a Hillock Halfling. The ability to heal extra from creature comforts seemed more in theme with his character than Gutsy! Nothing like a nip of wine to settle the blood while getting patched up.

Also added background to his sheet, as you requested!

Super! :)

Just making sure you saw, Nico Maletesta is Human (Versatile) with the Hellknight Historian background

Sure did. It's on my personal list, I just forgot to update it here. :)

That wasn't something that we had done actively, in our group, but probably the most logical/appropriate name for Zylah would be Dolly. :)

Heh. Yeah. Zylah is more of a 'doll-like' halfling, so this one just seemed to be the closest I could come to.

Very rough idea of what Zyhla looks like.

I just realized. We haven't discussed how HP are done for level ups. Roll? Average? Max? Other?
