"In my world there are two people, those of us who grew up in the cities and those who struggle for surival in a a harsh and uncaring land. I've been been learning the way of those who struggle in the wilderness. When you want to construct a trap..." Malcimex will try to set up a humane trap to catch one without hurting it.

Malcimex carefully regards the halfing before choosing her next words deliberately, "My people have lost much, and we believe that learning about the Pact Worlds will help us rebuild. The Starfinders came to Elytrio and taught us about what we have been cut off from, so now I am here to learn all I can about the universe. I suppose I am what you might call an exchange student."

The starfinder make their way down to the racetrack in Botscrap. The track winds through a junkyard. Some early onlookers have already arrived, camping out on prime spots on top of the junk piles with the best views.

As you approach the pit crew entrance a robot approaches you. "Hello pit crew. Please listen to these rules and then agree to a complete waiver of all legal rights in the case of accidental death or dismemberment during or before the race. Racers and their pit crews are to build and improve their vehicles from the available scrap around the racetrack. Vehicles built at previous junkraces can return. Racers can fire upon other competitors during the race, but firing into the audience is grounds for immediate disqualification. Racer weapons must be nonlethal and may affect only opponents’ vehicles. Your silence has been registered as acceptance of terms of service. Please proceed inside." And with that the pit crew doors slide open.

Inside you see half a dozen junk racers in stalls around a bay. A young woman wearing a lab coat over a paisly dress sees you and waves. She stands by a vehicle that resembles a dune buggy. When you approach her she sighs a little "I'm Laboni and you must be the Starfinder Agents Radazam sent! Thank you so much for coming. I seem to have really gotten myself into a pickle here. These other racers have such nice looking racers, so I think I'm pretty outclassed right now."

Looking around, you see the other racers.

  • *Lemgem, a gnome with blue hair covered in piercings, tattoos, and augmentations. Her round racer resembles a beetle of some sort, and looks heavily armored.
  • *Nyizin, a scarred winterborn rhypohrian. Her racer resembles a pickup truck and bristles with cannons.
  • *Orsis, a stoic dark-haired damaya lashunta. His racer has oversized tires and heavy plates strapped to the roll cage.
  • *Velocity, a beautiful android with silver hair and skin. Their racer is aerodynamic and looks a little too clean for the junkrace.
  • *Ratrod, an ysoki with mottled gray-and-white fur. His racer is bright orange and has a heavy duty rollcage.

The race starts in a couple of hours. Characters will have time for five actions apiece. Obvious actions available to the characters are to Improve Laboni's Junkracer (skills that can be used for this include computers, engineering, perception, and physical science), Investigate the Enemy (skills that can be used for this include sense motive and engineering), Sabotage (this would require both stealth and technical knowhow to execute. It is also strictly against the rules...), Socializing (a character may forego any of the checks above to socialize with their opponents).

Kieu Si points into the room beyond. "Mr. Chompers is in there."

Morvruul's question about forbidden technology seems to be ignored entirely by the children. Kieu Lan offers "Mr. Chompers isn't a bad guy, it just eats funny things. I fed it my homework!"

Kieu Si adds "Forbidden technology is watching TV after bedtime! Dad always says "No, it is forbidden!""

Those of you looking into the room beyond realize that various holes have been chewed through the walls in this area. The holes vaguely resemble the burrows of a rodent.

As near as you can tell, he's actually scared of the weird toothy mandible three eyed creature from the vast who's threatening to harm him.

Literally no one knows.

Paizo was doing an experiment and they just now collecting the data on how Signal of Screams did. They did a batch of 3 book APs and then went back to the safe 6 book APs, which are planned something like 1+ years in advance.

The 'new' campaign is Dawn of Flame which is 6 books. The 'next' campaign is Attack of the Swarm! which is 6 books and was announced before Signal of Screams was finished (and being worked on before it was announced). I wouldn't actually conclude anything about Paizo's future plans with AP book counts until we see the AP after the AP after Attack of the Swarm, AP 31-36!

From what I've heard, the 3 book format has been well received, but did it translate into sales? We'll find out in about a year after AP 25-30 and AP 31-36 are announced, and possible we'll see the release of the next 3 book AP in about 18 months if AP 31-36 are 3 book APs again.

Just got to look at the PDF. It looks like the spell Slithering Chain (Technomancer 1) is missing a range increment. Any errata on what the range should be?

It's supposed to be 101-200 years with an average of 150.5 years. 2d100 would be 2-100 years, with an average of 101 years.

I really enjoyed the options for PC races in this book but now I want to know when we can use them in SFS games

I'm right there with you ;)

Hoping to generally see more ways to get more races playable in some way or another in SFS as they keep exploring. I'd love to see some sort of incremental 'currency' for buying race boons get baked in SFS.
