Scarab Sages

Dear Dr. Jacobs,

Will we be seeing more Proteans in the future?

Yours truly,

A person on the internet

Scarab Sages

Yeah. That's what I thought. I just think it's odd they don't get anything special to them, like the shadow evolutions from the APG summoner. I was wondering if I was reading things incorrectly

Scarab Sages

I am unsure as to what evolutions the shadow eidolon from "Blood of Shadows" can take. Can they take poison or anything else that is restricted? Or are shadow eidolons limited to the barest bones of evolutions?

Scarab Sages

What will the next Adventure Path hardcover be?

I'm hoping for Kingmaker, considering some of the books are now being sold for $64 online.

Scarab Sages

Thank you for answering my question!

No Kineticist options.

It will contain some previously published content, but the majority of it (which is picked up from the old 3.5 Great Beyond softcover) is recontextualized and updated to match the setting as it exists today. It'll also reprint/update the basic rules for planes and planar traits first published in GameMastery Guide. There's a bunch more information about the core deities which has a little overlap with Inner Sea Gods, but the focus here is more on how the deities interact with each other, what their planar realms are like, and how they can intervene in the affairs of mortals. And a little bit of overlap on Hell, Abaddon, and the Abyss from Book of the Damned (but again, focusing more on the big picture there, rather than only on the fiends and their demigods).

All the archetypes are new.

Most of the spells and magic items and feats are new. (I haven't gotten to that section's development yet, but my guess at this point is that the percentage of reprint/updated stuff here is MABYE 5% or so.)

There's a lot of monsters, but only two reprints (the Vault Builders and Vault Keepers).

As of this time, of course. Subject to change! And all that.

And that probably uses up my spoiler points for the rest of the year... :-P

I spoke with Mark about this at PaizoCon. He's pretty sure there will be blood when he asks again. The team is a bit tired of the question. I reminded him of my open wallet policy, but the honest truth here is that this is a limited interest option that eats an entire book practically and it will likely not fit into the already tight release cycle, despite already being content complete. It's painfully unlikely that anyone will ever get the final version because it was written on Paizo time, so it's Paizo property.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like prime homebrew material, then. I've been mulling over writing it up, but held off for the "official" version.

But if Paizo doesn't want my money, then I won't waste any more time waiting to give it to them.

Thanks for trying, Mark!!! You know how much we'd have loved to see the original product.

Any luck on posting that delicious homebrew?

Edit: Ninja-ed, but I like my answer more, so I guess I'll leave it!

So Jeepers Creepers without the creepy director?

Are you working on any new classes or magic systems? Also have you seen the new Samurai Jack, yet? It's so good.

My summoner is running all summons off of Pokemon. I can't wait for Summon Monster VII and variant summons.
Specifically for this guy:

Can you imagine a t-rex swallowing someone and then disappearing underground?

My eidolon is based off Bulbasaur. I might grab the guardian spirit feat and build a quasit/imp/mephit into Mew or a shocker lizard into Heliolisk.

Beyond that I have plans for Aerodactyl (Pteranadon), Tangela (chaos beast), RhyHorn (rhinoceros), Primeape (Ape), and others.

Scarab Sages

It says the package has been delivered but I've never received it. Could you please look into this or inform me how to?

Scarab Sages

Ms. Davis is the best clockwork owl I know.

Scarab Sages

Can I get an estimated time of when I will receive the package?

Scarab Sages

I'm having the same issue. I received an email on November 4 saying"

"Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I’ve taken a look into your order, and it seems that it’s on a packing list right now, which means that it’s in the batch of orders that our warehouse is working on packing up and shipping out. I can’t say for sure when exactly they will be able to reach it in their queue, but once they do, they should send you a confirmation email to let you know that it’s on the way.

For our subscription orders, we generate them all at the same time and then we generally allow a two-week window to get everything all sent out. Right now, we’re just at the end of week one, so your order should be processed within the next week. Since it’s already on a packing list, that means it’s towards the front of the line. Since it’s now after-hours on a Friday and we’re not here on weekends, it may be that it’ll be processed on Monday or Tuesday.

If you’re ever curious about the order generation and shipping windows, we post monthly shipping threads on our Customer Service forum with details to keep subscribers informed. You can find this month’s shipping thread here.

Please note that we do not actually charge for your order until it ships out, so if you see something that looks like a charge on your account, it is most likely just a temporary authorization. Charges are not finalized until you receive your shipping confirmation email. For more information about our authorization process, please visit our authorization FAQ here.

I hope that this has been helpful! Please don’t hesitate to ask if there are any further questions or concerns that you may have in the meantime, and I will be more than happy to help out as best I can. Thanks, and have a great weekend!"

I've sent a followup email on November 11 and have not received a response.

Note: I'm not upset. Paizo is still awesome.

Scarab Sages

Why is this so expensive everywhere I look? I can't find a copy cheaper than $50!

Scarab Sages

Is there a chance of seeing more of a focus on dinosaur themed adventurers or maybe some prehistoric character options? Maybe a book Blood of the Ancients that details saurian character archetypes and spells? I know some options exist, but I'd like to know if that would ever be considered.

Scarab Sages

I, for one, welcome our new positive and negative energy overlords.

Scarab Sages

Unrelated by do you know of any games that act as spiritual successors?

I am not James Jacobs, but you might take a gander back in this thread to over here for the first one, at least.

1) Do you have a favorite kind of meat? (I count poultry and fish as kinds of meat for the purpose of this question)

2) What's the first song or other piece of music that pops into your head when you read this question?

3) Have you ever pondered on what dark matter and dark energy are within the context of Golarion, or do you prefer it to remain a mystery in case humanity manages to figure them out in the near future?

You are not James Jacobs, but I thank you all the same.

Also, I've bugged Mark a few times about this but do you know when the Harrowed Medium will be seeing a release? All of the AMAs say soon or in the near future. But I was hoping you with your glorious insider knowledge would be able to illuminate the situation.

Also, the last hard cover release was amazing. It was inspirational enough that I subscribed to the adventure paths. I figured the two would work hand and hand.

Will more corruptions be released in the future? Specifically anything like an Abyss-bound or a kyton transformation?

Scarab Sages

On a somewhat related note, I wish Paizo would put out a class book that bases things more on chance such as a gambler base class. Include the Harrowed Medium in that and let them select their class abilities through using the harrow deck each day.

The Harrow Medium can't come soon enough. I missed out at Gencon; I didn't run into anyone on the staff to bug about the Harrow Medium.

Scarab Sages

Are there any new classes on the horizon? Also are there any areas of Pathfinder you'd like to explore more?

Oh oh oh. One more question. Will the ninja receive an unchained version?

Scarab Sages

Mark,

Will we ever see another player-driven book like the Advanced Class Guide or Advanced Players Guide that expands on options for almost all classes?
On another note, will we ever see anymore alternate classes?

Scarab Sages

Will words of power ever receive an update? The system is great, but it could use a bit more love. I understand there is a third party supplement, but word-of-mouth says the document leaves a lot to be desired.
BTW I'm absolutely loving all the great books Paizo has put out recently. I originally hated the idea of Ultimate Intrigue. I read it, and soon it became one of my favorites on the bookshelf.

Scarab Sages

I'd like to think so, but I'm looking for an answer as well.

I was iffy about this book for a while. This post has made me unreasonably excited. The amount of archetypes and details with the class shows that Paizo continues to listen to the players. If only Paizo would release the Harrow-based medium.

I hope the book contains sorcerer bloodlines for Primal, Occult, and the other dragon varieties, especially the lunar, solar and void.

Scarab Sages

Would it be broken to allow a telekineticist to have an upgraded compound blast from their standard instead of choosing force damage? It would be similar to metal infusion if my memory serves me well.

Scarab Sages

Will the aether kineticist receive a level 9 infusion in an upcoming book?

Scarab Sages

I didn't really consider that. It changes my view slightly.

Scarab Sages

From what I've been reading in the other threads, it seems like none of the elements are all that powerful if an NPC class with a bow can out-damage a focused blaster class.

There still isn't a point value for the legless trait.

Scarab Sages

Will the medium ever receive spirits (abilities or whatever the favored terminology is) for each of the harrow cards?

Scarab Sages

Mr. Jacobs,
Is there a race point value for the legless trait?
Also, what is your favorite kind of dinosaur? Mine is a dimetrodon, even though it isn't a dinosaur, but a synapsid.

Scarab Sages

Have you considered making a Sentai class to fight off Kaiju? Also, how long until there are giant robots piloted by gnomes to fight off Not-Godzilla? If this happens, please call their organization Gnome Force 5.

Scarab Sages

If I may, can I have the book on the Squole?
